    Holy crap. That NEC show had better stuff than SEMA! It was like what SEMA used to be around 15 years ago. Now its all Supras, wheels and rocket bunny. Lol (its not but I'm sure you know what I'm saying.)
    Thanks for sharing that footage! If you have any more I'd love to see it.

    Well done Mr Urch, another cracking video.
    Off topic to this video; I subscribed to the channel a week or so ago. Sat with a newborn sleeping on my chest in the early hours, I’ve blitz through your Mongrel build and several other bits.
    Needless to say, your talent, patience, dedication to both your craft and this channel is fantastically inspirational and makes for top notch viewing. I also really appreciate your honesty about where you’re trying to take this all and the rollercoaster of running and aiming to live off a TH-cam channel.
    Having dipped in and out of car related hobbies. Along the way I went to an evening course for gas and mig welding, in an attempt patch up a couple of BMW E30’s. As a result I never got round to weld a car, but have developed a lot of enjoyment of metal fabrication.
    I’ve learnt, to get good at welding the key really is racking up the hours with a welder in your hands. However, the content you have on this channel has saved me many an hour of trial and error.
    This may seem a little self indulged, but it’s really to say well done chap, you’ve given a basic level (part time) metal work enthusiast a lot of joy and fulfilment watching your projects. People that comment on a slow down of content etc. don’t appear to appreciate how much work goes into running a show like this, especially at what looks to be a one-man-band, and that if they wish, they get all this for free.
    There’s a lot of love on this channel, so keeping doing what you’re doing.
    PS, I’ve ordered a tee and have made a contribution to keep that hungry Mongrel fed.
    Greg

    Hi Matt, she’s going to be a flyer! Will be good to see her out and about.
    May I give you a little bit of advice, those rubber bobbins for the exhaust won’t last long, they are designed for compression (mounted to be pushed together) the way you have them mounted they are in extension (pulling them apart) they will split and fail quickly. I have seen this happen on many customers cars, a way round it is to make a bracket that mounts to the top of the bobbin from the exhaust, and the one from the body going to the bottom of the bobbin if you understand what I’m trying to say haha
    Keep up the good work, can’t wait till the Mongrel is back. Cheers

    Were the fuel rail outlet smaller than the inlet, it could cause an unwanted rise in fuel pressure. There's always less restriction in the return than the feed.

  • @oikkuoek
    @oikkuoek 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @samuelcooke502
      @samuelcooke502 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are cheap, put out great power, and are built right from the factory for running turbos reliably!! Adapt easily to upgrading - Oh yeah - are simple as hell, and very easy to work on. Also, even though Saab is no longer, parts are plentiful and inexpensive!!!

    • @Urchfab
      @Urchfab  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They are dirt cheap and make good power. I ran a C20let engine in my last escort and would have liked to run the same but that would have cost me £2000 plus just to get going whereas the saab engines are about £200. If money wasn't an issue I would be running an Na C20xe on throttle bodies but those are crazy money for a decent one.

      bellhousing to fit the gearbox to the engine (probably an adapter plate) and engine mounts to suit mounting points on the engine and the mounting points on the car. theres nothing really any different between FWD and RWD except the direction the engine is mounted, and getting a SAAB engine mated to (presumably) a Ford bellhousing in this case.

    Your NEC seems a lot like our SEMA in the states

      NEC is the National Exibition Centre, in Birmingham, UK. They hold many events covering literally anything you can think of, motoring, home and garden etc. etc. This classic car show included, which I attended, and it was pretty class. Think Sema has more high profile built cars from what I've seen.

    "Why did you install a SAAB engine in a Ford Escort?" A Cosworth 4 cylinder engine would of been much betters. SAAB engine are temperamental and not very reliable. "HECK, a Mazda 3 cylinder rotary engine would be more reliable than a SAAB engine. Stick a 106m.m. GARRET turbo on the Mazda 3 cylinder rotary and get 600 h.p. after a dyno tune, but I guess you used what you had. I'll shut up now.

      The squeal at 14.35 sounds like turbo not lubricated on first start up, should be OK as soon as oil gets into system properly
