Well as you can tell by my exquisite taste in the clothing I choose to wear bears proof to my concerns of coordinating my accessories....LOL Sorry Martin, couldn't resist buddy. Thanks for the compliment on the project sir.
Nice job! ( of course it is! ) I too have used those tanks and as well out-of-date propane tanks for this purpose and also made engine oil drain tanks etc. Great ideas come along on this channel. 'Tanks' for this!
Thanks Reg for the cool comment today. I've made portable BBQ pits for camping and have turned them into auto-watering tanks for the dogs with old humidifier floats....Other things too, just can't think of them off hand. Hey man....I'm just a cheapskate with a torch and a welder.....LOL
I hate to see things go to waste. Using the heavier refrigerant tanks gives me enough gas capacity to actually use the tractors for work if necessary while the normal tank is being serviced and coated. Glad to see you are enjoying the efforts Bobby...thank you.
There's guys that'll argue that point. Sometimes it will stop a tiny seep though so it does act as a 'sealant'. A good thing to know is if you have a problematic drip on black iron pipe, you can 'salt' your regular brushed on pipe dope and reassemble. In a few days, the salt will cause the joint to rust just enough to stop the drip...Now don't tell any one you did that.....LOL Thanks Richard for the comment. Oh yeah, you might consider trying the blue Monster Tape. It's a teflon based tape that liquifies or molds itself together as soon as its put under pressure by the threads being tightened. It will not un-wrap like the white tape. A very superior product and it comes in 1/2'', 3/4'' and 1'' widths.
That purdy pink gas tank will look good on the old Farmall. Nice mounting setup too. I knew a couple boys that used a gallon glass jug on an old galopy and had to hold the fuel line in it as they ran it around the farm. Fun, but maybe not so safe for kids. Enjoyed the video.
That is too fancy for me. I have a 79 Ford with a 5 quart oil jug gas tank. Just as an FYI the refrigerant that the newer vehicles use, R1234YF is flammable.
