Phil, you're definitely right about having lots of different lures and only using a couple of them im guilty of this. Mostly stick with the same couple ive always used. Enjoyed this thanks 👍
Hi Phil, Steve Crowe has suggested I look at a few of your videos for information and tuition on pike fishing, an area I'm looking to enter soon. I have seen a few videos, thanks very informative, but have a question re crushed barbs. Do you crush all the barbs when lure fishing and also on shad lures as using in this video. I will search out further videos from you as I want to gather as much information as possible. Many thanks. Alan
Hi Afred, We filmed a "how to unhook pike" video with Phil a couple of years back. See the link below. Any questions regarding handling/unhooking them please feel free to ask. th-cam.com/video/o-pyFH-Zpj0/w-d-xo.html
Are these lure types usually used/fished barbed, or is it custom to de barb or replace with de barbed hooks prior to use (majority are sold with barbed hooks).
Hi Jason, lure fishing can be tricky in coloured water. From my experiences choosing a much brighter lure and a lure that kicks out lots of vibration makes a big difference. Good luck Phil,
There are plenty of great lure fishing opportunities lure fishing from the bank 👌 You can search vast areas walking and casting until you find the best spots.

Looked a nice venue. Do you tie the lure straight to the braid or use a wire trace?
It’s a lovely place to fish, we saw bitterns, marsh harriers and buzzards that day too 👌
Yes always use a wire trace when pike fishing 👍

Most ready rigged lures come with barbed hooks. The barbs can easily be crushed with a pair of pliers if you wish. 👌
@AnglingDirectTV thank you.
I have a local canal that is always coloured, any tips for lure fishing in these conditions please? Tight lines.

Good luck
Phil,
is live baiting still ok these days
Yes you can still live bait on some venues, so long as you catch the bait from the venue you’re fishing.
How do you effectively catch if you cant afford a multi thousand pound boat and fish tracker like from the bank
