      MrSupernova111 .I have a question related to admission to Harvard business schools MBA ,if you can answer please. Can I still study MBA ( finance) in Harvard Business schools, despite of not being able to do too well in my normal academic background, if I do much better in other professional courses ( like CMA ,CFA or ACCA ) ?

    • @anirudhhattangadi3534
      @anirudhhattangadi3534 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a question related to studying in Harvard Business schools MBA ( finance),if anyone can please feel free reply .Thank You.
      What is the minimum percentage to be scored at GMAT?
      I have another question in prior to which I would like to give brief information about my background.
      Am studying ICWA ( Institute of cost and work accountancy) course which is one of the well recognized professional management accountancy course after CMA USA and CIMA UK as you know .
      I have completed Bachelor degree in commerce from open university in india with 52% in aggregation after my class 10th( in which I scored 39% aggregation) ,I have worked in SAP for 2 years as software test engineer and am working at Accenture as accountant/ analyst since past 19 months.
      Am 33 years old and likely to complete ICWA final level in next few years and also planning to go for Chartered institute of management accountancy after completion of ICWA final level.
      Now what I would want to basically know is if I do really well in ICWA Final level exam and CIMA UK and GMAT ,will it be considered by Harvard business schools?
      I am basically curious to know, if those students who have poorly performed in their normal academic courses,but did very well in professional courses ( like CIMA ,ACCA, CFA) and GMAT exam ,can they still study MBA finance at Harvard business school?.

      Anirudh Hattangadi . You need a GMAT of 700+ and typically a GPA close to 4.0 to get into Harvard. I'm not familiar with the academic grading of other countries but if you can't get a 700+ in your GMAT then you need to be realistic about getting into Harvard.
      There are plenty of US schools that will accept students with lower grades. Its my opinion that certifications and other educational achievements outside of traditional institutions like a 4 year university are not a significant factor at a school like Harvard. I think GMAT, GPA, and any required essay weight more than anything else in regards to admissions.
      You should use Google to find out how other foreign students did to be admitted into Harvard.

    Well, I'm getting an MBA in Michigan but I came here for 8:12. I don't about any of you, but that is a BIG reasons of why I came here. My advice to you all, I like this school but the best thing is to start a company and then come back and get start in an MBA program. It gives a full working knowledge of how a business really works from beginning though execution of marketing a product properly and profit.

    All graduate business programs are pretty much the same. You read the same text books and academic papers and examine the same case studies. Every investments class is going to read Bodie-Kane-Marcus and every derivatives class is going to read Hull, guaranteed. The "case method" is not unique to HBS, pretty much every school does it (not to mention that it is not really all that effective). In fact, I had to purchase all of my case studies from the HBS publishing website.
    An MBA in general is a joke degree and I have seen some real dummies come out of HBS with MBA's. Hell, I have met Harvard grads who had no clue how the Federal Reserve works. The hardest part about most high powered grad programs is getting in. Once you are in, it is almost impossible not to make it through.
    Marketing and management classes are going to be little more than long winded explanations of what you already intuitively know while MIS classes won't go into enough depth to be of any use. Finance and accounting classes are the only classes were you will learn anything of importance, however, you are better off just dual majoring in these subjects as an undergrad than going to an MBA program as they are significantly watered down. Stay clear of any economics related classes (this includes the economic related portions of finance classes) as they will just fill your brain with useless knowledge that you will have to spend years unlearning as you realize how the world actually works.
    Finally, fancy-pants graduate school is only worth it if you have parents who are rich enough to pay for it and you want to put off having to get a real job for a couple of years. If you have to go into debt in order to pay the absurd price tag for this scam-they-call-an-education then you might as well just become a bartender (I bet that the majority of HBS MBA grads couldn't even explain why tuition prices are so disgustingly high to begin with).

    • @MrSupernova111
      @MrSupernova111 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree with much of what you said regarding the curriculum. But an MBA from Harvard is absolutely worth the money. Just look at their average salary of graduates and that's all you need to know.
      Other than that, yes, I am finance major with a minor in statistics and I can agree that the equations are all the same no matter what school you go to. I've been a salary manager for many years before returning to college and I can agree that most of the marketing and management course are long winded and almost useless to someone with even a couple of years worth of management experience.
      I don't agree with the double finance/accounting majors because I can't think of any scenario where you graduate from school and use both fields in your line of work. Unless perhaps, you become a consultant straight out of college. But who the hell would hire a college graduate with no work experience as a consultant?
      Math or English would be better options for a double major with finance/accounting.

      Kiks' . Develop some confidence and don"t worry about what someone else thinks.
      The information is the same no matter what school you go to so do your best and eventually you will succeed.
      People think success is a straight line to be followed. It could not be more wrong. You will make mistakes- but will you get back up and try again?

    You go to HBS because its a capital rich environment in attempt to buy an MBA with cash.Much of which is used to buy brand presents and connections.The program based on case study is seen to become more and more irrelevant across the world which needs a wider base of learning to achieve balanced successful outcomes.Although the HBS is hung up on long business numbers which hide under performance many of their competitors use the more relevant structured learning and real life research.The Global depression has spawned the view. What is relevant in an ever evolving market place is a yearly notching up of the requirement of diverse experience requirements of candidates.Many global companies now take the view that MBA's are best served by people who have second careers having gained 15-20 years experience in other professional rolls.Gone are the days where graduates go onto get an MBA without senior industry experience.

    It is awesome, no doubt about that, everything we hear, listen and see about Harvard is just Marvellous, but for international Students:
    The Fees is the hardest concern to think of, its a massive : $84,000 + certain other expenses.
    Harvard is one of the best Business School in the World, but 1 thing I still stick to, not because I can't get into it as of now due to financial constraints is that: Success doesn't come only from such Schools... We need to make up for ourself and work on our life!..

    How are you measuring performers. I've been working in IT and it was always measured by who is considered "coolest" by the manager. The people the manager would prefer to hang out with on his/her spare time is going to make the grade regardless of skills. It would be great to hear that a manager has a tool that is better than "coolness" and how "enjoyable" someone is to be around. What about the person who works twice the hours as everyone else and makes or saves the company thousands?

    I do agree that IITs lack some of those facilities.But,with the funds they receive that's the best they can do.And as far as research and stuff is concerned,you have got to know that 17% of the NASA scientists are IITians...and if you can search the names associated with some of the big companies in Silicon valley..u will again find IITians..for eg cofounder of JAVA was an IITian....Even though IITs lack all that research facilities..it doesnt seem to matter much,

  • @crazyderp38
    @crazyderp38 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well..there is too much of difference with respect to the funds received by the IITs and Harward.IITs didn't make into that top 100 list because of the lack of infrastructure and other facilities.But,as far as quality of students is concerned,IITs are one of the best.Many people who fail to crack IIT are now in MIT.Silicon valley has got many IITians.This year Royals Royce and Mercedes Benz came for that placement stuff..so yes there is something special about an IIT.

    I'd love to go to HBS, but it seems like a lot of these people don't realise there's more to life than academic success and your career. I'm in business because I genuinely enjoy everything to do with it, but it's the sort of career where you can become consumed by the desire for money and status. If I ever let myself become too involved, I will leave the industry without a second thought. At the end of your life, this pursuit for HBS selection, money and power will seem futile.

    This video offers step by step guide to apply in a business school, while it is so clumsily made up. Links, side info and conversation at the same time, pretty confusing. Now, my only concern is, how clear and easy to understand the step by step guide would be.
