Thomas, you are first class and the #1 reviewer. I just ordered the 2021 Targa 4, it is in Gentian Blue with Chalk/Slate grey interior. I test drove the car on a windy day on the highway, going 70 MPH, top down, windows down and no wind noise - everyone that says there is wind noise in the cabin is incorrect, even my Master Brand Ambassador said its not true with claims of wind noise. My car goes into production 11/27/20, and take delivery 1/15/21. Greetings from the Financial District (NYC). 😎
My dream car. A dark blue Targa 4S. And not just any reviewer. In full HD, full screen and full length. Lets go! I've never clicked on a YT video quicker. Another great video Thomas. Cheers!
Transparency note: Autogefühl videos are independent and free from editorial influence on opinion and rating. But since manufacturers enable us to do the reviews in the first place, for legal reasons this video is marked as _advertisement_.
But if you gave your honest opinion about certain German cars and the opinion would be true, but negative, manufacturers would stop giving you cars for the review, so your claim to be independent is not true. Exclusive rights to you from manufacturers bends your review towards manufacturers benefit and therefore your own benefit and this is essentially a paid promotion, not independent review.
honestly, after 996, porsche haven't done anything interesting, that was the last time they did good design, but the "purists" said they want rounded headlights and that's how it lasted, so we have 20 years of porsche looking the same, but getting fatter. they could have done so much better, but they won't
Agreed. The Targa is still sports car even with its added size. The handling defines that especially with rear wheel steering agility and response. So much technology packed into a short package.
Nice comprehensive detailed intelligent reviews, taking time and attention to look at every aspect of the car with a dash of humour interjected here and there. Nice comparison and nod to the original Targa.
Hello dear Thomas and thank you so much for your professionalism and passion that you bring in your videos ! However and unless I'm mistaken, I think that the dual exhaust pipes are actually the optional PSE (Porsche Sound Exhaust) whereas the 4 pipes exhausts are the normal. Maybe could you make it verified ? A fan from France
Hi Thomas and Autogefuhl team. I'm from Hungary and a most like your car channel from all of them. The style of the presenter is very fiendly, clear and he is also expert. Please go ahead and continue this type of car movies. Tamas
The Targa makes sense if you live in a cold contry (with salt etc) and want to drive it all year around - as some people to with Porsches - especially AWD versions.
Thomas, truly this is the best looking 911. The Targa is the best of both worlds, in my opinion. Blue is my first choice for color! Excellent in-depth review! Thank you Thomas!!
Greetings from Canada! 🇨🇦 The 992 911 Targa (with a manual) is now my dream car! 🥰Thomas, you can keep the Gentian Blue one! I love the Cherry 🍒 Metallic paint on the Heritage Edition, but Guards Red would be plenty fine too. Keep up the great work! You are the coolest automobile reviewer in the world 🌎! 👏🏻👏🏻
I recently had an opportunity to drive a new Targa. Beautiful automobile, no question about that. Truly unique Porsche. That said, IMHO it is CRUCIAL that prospective buyers actually drive a new Targa in their usual operating environment, top down, before ordering one. I say that because a significant number of Targa owners I've met at club events ordered their cars without having driven one, and they were, quite frankly, disappointed -- in some instances, exceptionally disappointed -- to experience the "harshness" of the 4S ride (20 in./21 in. tires, remember), even on "normal" pavement and even with the suspension in a comfort setting. Also, the noise in the cabin with the roof open is very conspicuous at 50 mph or more. VERY conspicuous. Thomas mentions these aspects of the car in his road test. My impression is that he does not want to dwell on them out of respect for the manufacturer. I understand that. Consequently, I strongly recommend that prospective owners experience these aspects/characteristics of the Targa for themselves, rather than relying on the perceptions of others, and certainly before ordering one, to avoid later disappointment with what, for many, may be their first Porsche automobile.
Greetings! Great work Thomas and Team. Many thanks for all your videos. Targa is great for style! Great colour combo. As we know, it turned out convertibles weren’t forbidden in 1965; for example safety conscious Mercedes proceeded with their SL’s, the 1963 Pagoda and the 1971 R107. Sorry, I didn’t see the silver Alfa spyder, there were less views forward through the windscreen this time! Best wishes.
Thus is the nicest 911 since the original 60/70‘. I’d chose the targa for looks, heritage and the mix of coupe and convertible. I see it as a coupe with a big sunroof exactly my taste and logical for me They did an awesome job as you with this great Review. Like the sense of humor and details. When reviewing the 330 e touring please keep an eye to the difference to the sedan in terms of the Suspension? What changes dynamic m suspension
Great overview. Regarding the "wind noise" and buffeting effect; you drove mostly with your window up - camera attached to the glass. I think you'll find with the windows both full down there is more of a difference with the windshield top deflector.
I would like to add a comment regarding the coupe vs targa vs convertible. For some people, like me, Targa could add a bit more privacy to the open top experience. I hate to be in the center of attention, so a Targa with tinted rear window will give me the open top experience as well as the privacy. I think that's the logic.
Deal with the wind noise, Targe could be used as a cruiser up to 60mpg which is basically in any city or suburb driving, then the top needs to be closed for highway higher speed driving. I think the great styling will outweight this minor inconvenience. Frankly, how many people we have ever seen while we are traveling on Interstate with the top down in any brand of convertable cars?
OMG, what a beautiful car. Much thanks for such a good review. I have enjoyed your show for a few years now. I was hoping to buy a 911 Turbo S one day, but this car is making me reevaluate...
11:13 I wonder what that extra latch is at the center bottom of the door. Looks like it goes into the opening in the sill. Thanks for another great review, Thomas!
Wow why so late it mean we in Europe cannot watch it until the ending because working tomorrow morning it’s already 12 am in the Netherlands, next time up loaded your video earlier so I could watch it till the ending Mr T
Hab schon lange auf dieses Video gewartet, sehr nett von der AG den Wagen in Thomas blau zu schicken. Jetzt noch eine lederfreie Stoff Version mit Karositzen!
Great review! Angle of the rear seats seems less severe than in the cabriolet, correct? And no one talks about the extra storage under the back glass, with the top up!
Always, always, always........ such exceptional presentation. Many times because of same it becomes not so much the vehicle, but your presentation......... The level of intelligence, elan, aesthetic you demonstrate is, of and by itself, "the show". Take care always!!! Du bist alleine in einer Klasse. Mein respekt an dich und die menschen bei Porsche
18:59 I have this kind of cupholder in my Toyota Auris :D And it's not weird but it's one of the best things in this car besides reliability :D Great Review Thomas & team Autogefühl !
You're making the most detailed and professional car reviews on yotube. The only thing I can't stand is how a German guy says Mersidis instead of Mercedes :)
Beautiful... a little heavy though (the Targa is structurally heavy to being with, but they could reduce the weight by removing all the over stuffed & fattened amenities) ... then dump the ICE too, & go with 1000hp 4 wheel drive ev-lcg power! Will you allow 2 more drivers in your Porsche ? NO NO NO. That's why I did NOT choose the memory seats. But having said that, you might need it for Summer and Winter because there will be a difference in your driving position when you are seated with a T-shirts and a wool sweater.
You are right about the different noises you are hearing during the drive with the top on. Maybe the closing mechanism is the source of that noise who knows. Anyway, the more complex the car the more risks that some mechanism, feature to break down or to cause some inconcenience. The same with the software. If a software can be fixed with a patch or a new version, here, the recall is the option which is at least time consuming. Hey Porsche, don't change the receipe please!
This ride is about riding around town. For high speeds you would have the Top up for Wind and Sound . I'd have interest for another ride outside of the GT3 Manual and 911 S Manual.
Porsche targa is one of the most beautifual cars on the road and I would give my eye teeth to own one one day. This blue colour is also very pretty - would probably pick a different colour interior. To wrap or not that is the question !
The ‘Normal Exhaust’ in the video which looks like an Audi RS exhaust (meh) is actually the more expensive sport exhaust. The ‘Sport Exhaust’ on the aventurin targa is the less expensive (better looking) sport exhaust. Of course due to the turbo none of them really sound great, but personally I feel like the double tips on both sides look much better.
What a beautiful colour. The dark colour almost hides that hunchback. And why do I get such joy watching you turn into a pretzel sitting in the back of this car??? I actually only have 1 question. What happens to the roof if you are parked in a parking garage or a parking spot with a concrete wall behind your car. Does the roof sense the wall or does it just crash into the wall? That roof extends behind the rear bumper.
Thomas, how much noisier is the Targa - with the roof on - than a normal coupe? I have no problem with wind turbulence with the lid off, because a Targa with the top off is for low speed cruising around the town or ocean side boulevards. Slow enough to be seen! I'd never go faster than 40mph with the top off. Ha!
Enjoyed the video and really like the Targa which makes me ask the question. If wind noise is a problem, why haven't Porsche offered a wind deflector to attach to the Targa bar similar to that which Mercedes offers with their SL models?
Targa = Beautiful Convertible. Very logical to buy this if you find softtop convertibles hideous (like me). I would buy a 911 Targa, Ferrari Portofino ... but would not buy a 911 convertible.
Tech, power and craftsmanship is amazing. But 911's are getting big, put one next to a 930 and the difference is shocking - same thing if you put them on a scale. I think that more people would have more fun with a new 911 if it was lighter and smaller, it would even be so if power was down as long as the power to weight ratio is good.
Yeeeaaah, that rear design really does have something on it. But when you sit in it, you realize you get basically the same gear selector like any other VW car.
38:20 Loads of people complain about rattles, squeaks, too much noises etc. in modern day Porsches ... totally unacceptable, certainly at this price point.
How much lighter is it compared to the old model? (2019 model)I have heard that the glass roof was heavy in the old model and caused the car to roll more in the corners. Any improvement in the new model?

From the 993-to-991, doesn’t changed much. The 964 is still my favorite.

Highly appreciated!
Another great video. Thanks. The windshield spoiler also exists on the 991 and works well.
Thomas you and the 911 are both legends! Great review especially loved you trying to get into the back seat!
I don’t know how you do it but keep the Thomas blue reviews coming! Another beautiful car! Another great review!

First one to congratulate on this massive video drop within the last days/hours. Keep it up, yo!

Good old school 911 and quality buildt. Air cool is the one and only!
The gray on blue looks phenomenal
Chalk interior looks the best, thats what I ordered.
992 is retro n fresh and the Targa is pretty.

Absolute steering brilliance , for sure
I just got the Carrera 4s. What a car! Love your reviews btw, they are so detailed and relaxing.
Very in deep review. I would say the best in the net.
Great review! Angle of the rear seats seems less severe than in the cabriolet, correct? And no one talks about the extra storage under the back glass, with the top up!
Exactly, I was looking for that comment regarding the additional storage, accessible also by opening the rear glass compartment only.
Always a beautiful car, always a good review.
The most gorgeous 911 variant

Fantastic car. Out of all models, except the Turbo and Turbo S, i'd get this over anything else in the 912 lineup.
Danke schon Thomas! Still an Audi fan : ]
Thank you for pointing out the wind noise. I will buy the convertable.
🤘better choice.
I don’t like the looks of the convertible as much, that hump on the rear. Targa a better looking car
Swivelling, the new Shibboleth for German car journalists. Swivelling Squirells.
I think the wind turbulence feature was added by the designer on the way home from the Christmas party
Bought one. Took on the highway. Returned it. The wind buffeting is absurd.

The whole chassis is much stiffer in the 992. The Targa gained a lot in this year's model.
