Originally aired on CBS: 1/8/1986; repeated airing on #TPIRBarker {A week after New Year '86} (The highest priced prize ever offered on the show during #GoldenRoad🛣️)
3:35 *YES!!!* All right, Denise! She has done it! She is $47,000, plus that one dollar, in prizes *richer!* Wow! Congratulations, Denise! Way to go, *baby!!!*
Agreed. But a Porsche is even more expensive ito buy n New York City then even in all of the state of California, since New York City has higher taxes then California, but not by much.
@@StLawrencePlace It was set by Pamela, despite missing out on a Pontiac Sunbird playing Temptation. She was the only person to not win their game that day, but she made up for it big time, winning $11,000 in the Showcase Showdown and winning a Jaguar XJ7 in the showcases. Pamela was in shock when Bob told her the good news. An almost $44,000 Porsche! I'll bet those showcases that day were dinky, and there was a chance the runner-up won it, or was it a double overbid? And as for Card Game... did they lose the car??
how quickly did her smile go away when they told her backstage that she has to pay state and federal taxes up front on the $44k porsche before she can pick it up at her local dealership ?
Well, I do know that somebody won a motorhome on Golden Road, while her opponent won her showcase with a convertible, a guy won a Buick Regal and then took home two new Blazers from Chevrolet, a lady came away with a Buick Skylark and Motorhome in the showcase, and a guy won a Buick park Avenue after having won a Fiero.
Notice between the 4th to the 11th season of this show has the final prize being limited to just under $20,000, 12th-13th season limited to $25,000 but the latter part of season 13 to present it’s sky’s the limit!
This episode alone had contestants winning a total of $82,224 in prizes which is a record for 1986 ,which is $235,700 in 2024.

If she went all the way she would have won $75,000+
Rich Jeffries was not a good match for the show. So glad Rod Roddy was ultimately chosen to replace Johnny O.
Thank you. I say the same thing!
Rich Jeffries wasn’t that bad. He did alright but Rod was the ultimate next announcer and he was there for about 15 seasons.
Actually he was there for 17 years.
@@rhyancoleman6462 Correct. 1986-2003
Agreed. Even Gene Wood was slightly a little better then Rich Jeffries. Even though Gene Wood was ok as a sub voice for TPIR.
If the Porsche costed $43,917 way back in 1986, imagine how much that it would cost today in 2024!
The 2024 model starts at $131,000!

"cost" (not "costed")
Her record wouldn’t last long however - it was surpassed on Rod’s first permanent episode with $54,772.
That’s a month and a half away!

@@jnadle1 They in fact set a new record for the most winnings given away on an episode. Card Game was the only game lost that day.
I was upset at the fact that Michelle had ruined a perfect record breaking show!
Before Someone got total more than $60,000 in later years....
There were two $50K+ wins in the Kennedy version. A $60,000+ Golden Road win, and a $50,000+ Showcase win. Wonder if GSN has shown them?

What did Denise win in the first IUFB?
A computer
@@StLawrencePlace The price?
@tyrese3745 $1,000
Hope she still has the car
Question: when did the Golden Road receive its updated new signage?
We don't know yet - but it's definitely there by the time Rod became the permanent announcer.
