Man I’ve played this game forever and nailed hydrogen, harvesting, traveling, ship-to-thruster ratio and just couldn’t nail down room pressurization and you made it absolutely easy to grasp and that helped more than you know. With epilepsy interrupting thoughts it is incredibly difficult to learn simple systems. Thank you so much!!
Even though ive got lots of hours in the game i certainly dont mind seeing how someone else might make a complete airlock. Besides helps any new players that might stop by.
Fantastic tutorial, mate! Straight to the point, filled with useful information, easy to follow but not dumbed down. You've got a good voice, too - it's nice to listen to. All the best!

Your Space Engineers content is great Would love a tutorial on automated cargo ships, I have watched your vid on autopilot, but there are many additional challenges beyond just autopilot when trying to automate transfer of large quantities of ore from mining rig to main base, for example. Thanks for all your guides, keep it up.
Thanks Stonecoat. Are you thinking that the cargo ship would start at the mine site, load up with ore, travel to main base, connect, unload ores then return to mine site, connect and start again. All automatically? That's a pretty complicated thing to set up. I'd have to think about how I'd go about that. Would take a lot of experimenting too. Could be fun though! Would you be happy with ejectors and collectors instead of docking connectors?
@@TallmanBradGameplay Yeah, I was thinking the ship starts at the main base empty, travels to mine site. Docks at connector, waits for some time according to a timer block so it can fill up, flies back home, docks at connector, waits again with probably a second timer block to empty cargo, and repeats. I have tried to set up something like this on my friend's server but haven't perfected it yet. I do believe it is possible though, I am so close to getting it right. Just thought it would be a nice idea for a tutorial, especially because I'm pretty sure it can be done in vanilla and even without scripts.
It is a good idea. It might take me a while to figure a simple system out that would work in a tutorial. I'd need to explain timer blocks and autopilot again. Let me have a bit think about it. How far did you get? Was it the autopilot that was the tricky part?
@@TallmanBradGameplay yeah, I'm not sure if it's a server issue, but even with precision mode, my cargo drone wasn't hitting the GPS markers very eloquently, and ends up crashing wildly into the connector. But I've done other tests with the timer blocks, so I'm fairly confident that part of it will work fine, just have to get the autopilot do not destroy itself heh.
Yes that doesn't sound good. I'll see how I get on for time and I'll have a play with it when I get a chance. Working on the solar alignment tutorial over next couple of days. I'll not forget about this though!
Thank You for video. They should definitely add and airlock in game. I love tinkering with doors and timers etc but don't always have time or space on my ships
You're welcome. If you do t mind mods there is a great auto area rotating airlock door. I'm afraid I don't remember the name or if it had to be vented. I used it quite a bit.
Speaking of airlocks and losing O2, on the Steam Workshop, nukeguard has created a... mod(?) for a "rotary airlock". It looks very interesting, and a whole lot simpler than the double-airlock system. Could you possibly do a video on that? Pros vs. Cons; caveats, gotchas, How to, etc. Thanks.
Hi Gary. Sorry I didn't catch this sooner. I've used that mod on a server before and it works exactly as described. If you're happy with mods and you're looking for an extremely simple solution to getting in and out of your base or ship, as a foot passenger, without loosing air then this mod will work perfectly. The only argument I can see against it is simply that it is a mod. That's absolutely it. If you're comfortable with mods and need a simple solution this is it. If you'd prefer the engineering challenge of creating your own then you should look at least at a control panel to trigger depressurisation, after that sensors to trigger it for you and later, possibly, timer blocks for full automation.
I should add that the mod version takes up the space of 1 block where a manual system is going to take up a minimum of 3 blocks. A manual airlock on a ship is pretty big. But with the mod its the same size as a regular door. In terms of blocks.
@@TallmanBradGameplay I gave up when i saw the blue lights everytime i tried this. Keen may add some more information with the air vents. I’m having issues with my small block ship. I fill the oxygen tank before I leave for space which is attatched directly to the cockpit…cockpit gets oxygen fine. Then I have a small air vent on the conveyor port on the back of the cockpit inside the ship and I can’t get it to work. Any ideas?
I'm really sorry, it's a long time since I played SE. I just can't remember enough about it to trouble shoot this for you. I hope you get it sorted eventually. Sorry again.

@@TallmanBradGameplay One issue I couldn't seem to get right is Airlock. I had 2 doors before leaving but, even so my o2 would empty out into the 1st door so Id lose air before even opening door to the outside my other door would be closed.diagram Base{door}==Airlock={door}outside
Yes. You'll lose a small amount of air into the actual airlock space, which will then get vented outside when you open the outer door. Then, when you return, your airlock is 'empty' or full of alien air(or whatever) and this is dumped into the base when you open the inner door. The smaller the airlock the less air is lost. An automated airlock that depressurises the chamber you are standing in, is the only way not to lose any air. That's tutorial I was suggesting at the end of this video. It can be pretty complicated and personally I don't use them. But! If you enjoy experimenting in SE then it's a good experiment.
@@TallmanBradGameplay Ah ok, The games system of measurement made it seem like there was no air left at. ty for taking the time to type out that reply. Have a great weekend.

if you have large ship airlocks you want to depresurize the airlock instead of letting the air escape. you need an oxygen tank to temporary store the air. the tank should not be connected to anything else, so it doesnt fill up.
I agree with the tank to store the air. That's a great point about not having it connected so it doesn't fill from external sources. I like it. Thanks for mentioning that Timmy.
I have a air tight ship and the air is not flowing in and i have it connected to a H2/O2 generator with ice in it and nothing is happening what do i do?
There could be a few things going wrong there. I'd start by checking your vent is set to pressurise and has no red lights. Can you fill an oxygen tank from the o2 generator? Perhaps add an o2 storage tank to the system so the oxygen is already generated. Sorry if I'm not much help here MrTrex. I hope you get it sorted.
Question, would it be possible to use an advanced rotor/3x3 hinge and solar panel for the oxygen farm (similar to scriptless auto solar panels)? Asking since I decided to start on the moon and ice is quite a bit away from my base and in the mountains and thinking of running similar along side my solar farm.
The script works for oxygen farms. Buy it is only interested in rotors in the 'group' to operate. The hinge would have to be controlled manually. Unless the script has been updated in the last year?
Yes that'd be really useful. It's just such a complicated thing with the awful programmable and timer blocks in SE. Honestly the easiest way is to install a little mod. For example the revolving door style mod. I'm sorry I can't do a tutorial on setting up the programmable blocks Nick. It really is overly complicated and something that should be in the vanilla game.
I'm not sure what you mean. Just a normal door on a room is air tight. If you're wanting an airlock you just need 2 doors with an air vent in between the two. Use the air vent to add or extract air depending on which way you're going. Too much to explain in text here.

This is a handy way to draw air in to a cockpit on a small ship as well. Just attach a small grid vent to the cockpit or an attached conveyor run.
