May I ask you something? I have a Honda Accord 2.4L (2009), it got a DTC code U0151, what could it be?
What Autel scan tool are you using in the video because I don’t see it in the links for tools used in the video
Scotty's energy is just astonishing.
I barely have any willing to talk to anybody, and this 70-year-old dude still have spirit! Good for him.
I think back when I had to change a bad oil cooler in a Ford ambulance with the 365 International Harvester diesel. Said cooler exploded and pumped oil into the cooling system.
That was an ugly mess that took me 25? hours to do. I would have rather done that than to touch a Volkswagen convertible.
If the check engine light isn't on you're not driving a VW.
@@robskyle Oh, you own one...lol
It means check your engine so pull over open the hood and check it before you keep driving
@@ginog5037 no, was told this by a friend of mine who was a VW mechanic and owned a bunch of them. Doesn't mean they're necessarily bad cars, just filled with unnecessary sensors.
@@SalSanchez-dy6cn I checked it- it was there.
@robskyle NO, they are overpriced and over engineered junk. I don't know anyone that buys a second VW/Audi. Their Stealerships are the worst!
I LOVED MY 2010 EOS! And loved the sunroof on the convertible. I had 34k miles on mine sold it at 102k never had a single issue!
My Passat had a factory defect in the engine.
Only 54,000 miles
Engine failure and the dealership said join the lawsuit or pay $10,000 for a NEW Engine!
I joined the lawsuit, the group one and I was never given mine to fix the vehicle.
They claimed I fell into a loop hole because The law suit was for those who already repaired their vehicle!
I waited one year to find this out and Paid for storage the entire time 😢
Never again will I by a Audi Volkswagen car!
I made the mistake of buying one of those for my daughter's first car. Total nightmare money pit.
I was expecting the news to be something like Chrysler buying Toyota. Yeah, that would be one big nightmare.
Remember the first convertible that did this was Ford 1957 to 1959
It was a 'hardtop' convertible
I saw one used in a very old movie, 60s I believe it was... not sure what make but it was cool then, it is cool now.
Like you said, this is just like the Tiger tank that was over-engineered and broke down constantly
Too many moving parts. I like simple engineering. I spent 14 years at sea in US Navy ships running the conventional (non-nuclear) propulsion plants. They were fun to operate, even when we were shot at. 😑
The dual clutch transmission on the Bugatti Veyron could shift in 100 milliseconds. I can imagine the maintenance on the transmission itself. But the Veyron had 10 radiators and a 16 cylinder engine which was a gas hog. It only got 8 miles to the gallon on highway.
We had a 2007 VW EOS from new and aside from two sets of ignitions coils it was the least costly car I have owned in 40+ years of driving - a couple dozen cars. The VW/Audi ignition coils are pure crap. Aftermarket far better and a 1/3 the price. Put nearly 80K miles on it over 12 years and it was fun and the roof was trouble free. And DCT shifted better than my C7 Corvette with paddle shifters - they are so slow by comparison with torque converter. EOS is not a bad car at all regardless how excited Scotty gets.
It is just how expensive a German car is to fix, when things do go wrong. That is the main problem.
@@johnandrus3901 This also has a notoriously problematic engine in it. As someone who owns a different car with the same engine, I've learned all about the timing chain tensioner, intake manifold, PCV system, HPFP, diverter valve, water pump, ignition coils, turbo waste gate, cam cover gasket, and more that all are known to have problems.
So, while some are expensive to fix, others are just poorly designed.
@@MishtahPoogfor sure. Was that the mk4 or mk5? Heard they had problems. The engine in mk7 and mk7.5 are known to be more reliable and better engineered. Except for the water pump / thermostat housing which you really have to be on top of. Still a fussy German car at the end of the day, but very fun to drive
@@rashkov2003 Mk. 6, actually. The first generations of the EA888 were like that until they updated it for the Mk. 7.
that convertible will be expensive to fix when and if it stops working. Big , big bucks to fix that
I saw one of these on a Canadian car detailer’s show. It was a convertible too and a pretty light blue. It didn’t run and had been sitting for years.
I bought a 88 ford escort that the engine and transmission-went out at 50 k miles. I had an extended warranty with a 25.00 deductible. The engine and transmission had to be replaced on ford. 8:16
I'll stick with my Chevy Impala that has never had a problem.
I had a 94 GM Barina five door & it was made in Spain (assembled of course from parts made in Germany.)
Remember the Mercedes convertables like that that would spray hydrolic fluid all over people and the car interior ?
The problem with the 2.0 L VW Turbo engines is replacing the water pump. This is not something a driveway mechanic can do...I've replaced waterpumps on many American made vehicles, and none of them are as complicated as the 2.0L VW Turbo waterpump...
Yes, the timing belt, alternator and engine mounts have to come off. The crank pully bolts are round with a hex shaped hole that will strip into a circle when you try to remove the bolts. One thing to another is the definition of insanity.
I have 2 of them. One is the 3.2 VR6. Blew the head gasket on that last year. Then bought my friends 2010 with the engine the one in the video has. When my friend bought it in 2020 I replaced all the timing chains, guides, and tensioners. Love the car but it always needs something. You have to be or know a mechanic to own one of these. My old 2002 Jetta TDI is a much better car. Wish I had one of the rare 6 speed manual Eos. The mechatronic unit has been acting up in the transmission since my friend bought it with 99k miles. Almost to 128k now.
*That's* your worst nightmare?
Mine is being buried up to my neck in wet concrete with a cage over my face and a burlap sack of angry rats dumped into said cage for them to eat my face while it's being sprayed with lemon-juice.
Scotty 👋 I need help! Whats the best used car to buy right now for around 15-20k?
Toyota or Honda, or Mazda too is what he'd say.
It shifts fast and is fun to drive
My first brand new car was a 2001 VW Jetta VR6. I kept that car for 12 years and 274K miles. i lived in NYS at the time and after having it for years it developed many problems, many I worked on myself. Talk about plastic, even back the the fuel injectors became brittle and cracked, so I replaced those myself. NYS emissions and the check engine light being on was always fun. Reset and drive enough miles and re-test. LOL
Those we're nice cara especially the interiors which looked luxury. Too bad they would fall apart crap window regulators ,coilpacks
@@CRAPO2011 yes, I had the 12 valve VR6, they also later made a 24 valve.
@@ayoung2112 I rather the 12v even if it only had 172hp
@@CRAPO2011 yep, that's why the motor lasted. Never gave out.
Then you wonder why these plastic intakes, all the plastics in the engine compartment...then the plastic dash, console cover, foam seats...plastic trunk floor, and of course the large plastic covers on rhe bottom of the car ..so ...if there is a fire...bring the marshmallows!
im done with automobiles after discovering motorcycles at age 37. They are still pure and the electric push has been thoroughly rejected by consumers.
Did you film this in the fall? Trees.....
Goodness how much could go wrong with that car! 😂
It sucks that they no longer offer the standard transmission, in the 2025 golf R
Really might be a mistake there a reason why Honda only makes the type r in manual
Turn radio on and wipers start moving on 2011 Caravan l got from kenny Upull lol
My biggest fear is 4 more years of this classless regime in DC.
Yikes....your comment is beyond nightmare
@@erniemorris9991 Isn’t it.
So you are a Southern Revisionist Yall Queda Goon? Hot Damn man, can I see your paperwork cause you don't sound like you belong the US.
Trump
@@stooges5729 Why?
What's your opinion on german car's quality? I heard that germans, Japanese, anything from them is of good quality.
Sure, Scotty mock the guy out while he is standing there.
All cars today are trash for the money. Costly and over complicated with loads of plastic and multi computers.
There I just did a year's worth of reviews!!
Looks like we're going back to horses because I'm not driving an ev only for the government to spy on me 🏇
Ya don't need an EV for that! The Apple car play WILL tell on ya if anyone else drives your car!
I only owned one VW in my life. That was 40 years ago. Lesson learned.
Everybody knows you wouldn’t buy a car from a dealer or any car over near $5000. 🤣🤣🤣
"My Worst Nightmare Has Come True"
What, you can't move your arms anymore? ;-)
A sports car will be a forever car, if it comes with manual transmission.
I have a 2011 Jetta 2.5, stick shift. I love it, my dad bought a 2019 jetta, automatic, and I drove it the other day. Yuck. Cheap plastic in the newer car, the transmission makes a vibration, it clicks. I was appalled. WHAT HAPPENED VW!!! My 2011 has twice the mileage and drives 5x better!
The cylinder head cracked on the 2.6L Mitsubishi engine in my 1978 Dodge (by Mitsubishi) Challenger just under 50,000 miles. Systemic problem, heads were unobtainium from salvage yards. And head gasket leaked on another cylinder. Avoided Mitsubishi ever since.
The 2.6L was widely used in Chrysler vehicles in later years.
I do not want one.
Omg the laughing and the animal memes is absolutely the best....
28seconds Looks Like 😊ALex Steins 😮Brother ?
Scotty’s first guest appearance! A customer. 😅
Am I nuts? I have never had any of my cars/trucks ever over 4k rpm.
I'm really enjoying all the videos you're making about Toyota's turbo engine shavings fiasco. Yes I am.
Where are they again..?
You know, after you picked on "Geun-diey" for so many years I thought you'd at least be fair.
BETA MALE ALERT...the Toyota probably is small and rare cry harder
he's already mentioned about it multiple times in the live videos.
I would get rid of this car now while there is still some value!
Agreed
I had a 2006 VW tdi . Diesel engine pile of crap😢
Hi, Scotty. I don't want an EV, but people keep telling me that I won't be able to drive after 2030 unless I get one. Should I buy a Tesla or should I wait to see what Toyota comes up with?
Wait
@@rachelqueen7310 Thanks, I'll probably wait a year or two.
u can wait and u dont really need a tesla only, there plenty of better brands depending on what you are looking for.
Lol dude gas cars are not going away by 2030. They don't even have half the infrastructure needed to pull that off
wait for the election AND THINK VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU VOTE! UNDERSTAND?
Scotty, we live in New Hampshire but we would look for our next used car in RI specifically to get you to do the pre-purchase inspection on it. There are so few people a guy can trust any more. How can I arrange for you to help us? Thanks.
I had to watch the transformation 2x lol
This reminds me of the 1975 VW rabbit my family bought new. It almost fell apart. Parts put in backwards at the factory, detective oil seals and no dealership could seem to do the much needed repairs. If you put your foot into the gas pedal the thing would stall. We had to put oil in it if we wanted to go anywhere.
Brand new VW is Very Wonderful. VW with 100,000 miles is Very Woeful.
Knew it was a vw
The shaky cam made me want to throw up wtf the camera was shaking to count the screws
Neat convertible top. It is amazing that I've never saw one hear near Chicago!
Great car...
@@ginog5037 Yes it is.
I think you should get rid of your Toyota Celica, because you never drive it.
@@DarkForce2024the mileage over the years! But Scotty wouldn’t be Scotty without a 94 Celica
Get a VW, more fun to hear the criticisms!!!! Hahaha
@@murrmansreef3944 Haha, true! Then again Jeff Bezos owns literal mansions that he's never stepped foot in, so having a car you never drive isn't really that big of a deal! 😅
I think Scotty has it arranged to be buried in the Celica 😅
Lol 😂
I had a Peugeot 308 hardtop. Never more... Problems with engine. Could not be repair. The hardtop will one day collaps😢 Be ready to pay..🎉
Woow crazy roof🤖 and its cool too😳
It's the only Convertible with a sunroof. Which is the largest one in a production car...
I have barely even seen you turn one wrench. You dont show us how to do anything. You just talk fast and move your hands and arms all the time. You dont even explain anything in depth.
Have you watched the guy's channel???
Over 6 million viewers disagree with you.
Hi Scotty, thank you for the fantastic daily videos, learning all the time. My son now wants to be a mechanic when he leaves school because of your content.
Scotty doesn't know 🎵🎵🎵
Hey scotty. I fix many dual clutch transmissions. At least 10 mitsubishis. They are actually cheap and easy if you know what your doing
Those screws on the air filter reminds me of the entrance of the Titanic submersible.
So is his dishonesty.
A licon town cars blow heads before 100000 miles and u called them reliable as long as u worked on ur own car
I saw a Volkswagen Classico the other day 😅 I’ve never seen one before
It's a modernized MK4 Jetta, better cars back then.
I'm trying to find new beige seat covers for my 2007 2.0 Turbocharged VW EOS. Anyone have advice where I can find them?
manichi seat covers are sweet
Fun until it breaks!
which seems to be a few years after purchase😵💫
Rip 🙏
Didn't Ford make a hardtop convertible where a similar roof came out of the trunk?
wow scotty is lit
Scotty Kilmer, your a trusted mechanic and good person thanks for helping me understand about different car brands. 🗣️
Great info 😊
I just saw a Tesla Cybertruck in the wild pulling into a gas station.
My light turned green so I couldn’t stick around to see what he was doing. Looking at it though I wondered what would happen if he could get a 1.21 gigiwatt jolt.
Hot wheels has more metal then VW
I wouldn’t give 20$ for a VW. Junk
All that money we're spending to protect Europe . German cars should be free
You mean the old supplies we give to Ukraine so we can make new supplies for ourselves? 🤨
0:42 reminds me of my dad’s AMG’s flakey foldaway roof.
Scotty
Have you done a video on the volkswagon Thing?
These are pretty and stylish cars. Just wish they were as good as the old Bugs.
VW reminds me of the 1957 Ford Skyliner.
That's really your worst nightmare????? Tell the truth Scotty.
Scotty wishes he’d love this car 😂
They're bad cars,AVOID! That's advice coming from the UK.
A VW. Better be an ASE certified master mechanic with $100 G's worth of tools and 50 years of experience.
Have a great day Scotty!
“Almost like a transformer”……Nobody sums things up like Scotty 😂
I liked the Audi TT as well.
I wish I had as much fun working as you do Scotty.
I will never buy a Volkswagen again. Crap
My retired mechanic hated VW because of all the specialty tools required to work on them. Towards the end of his career he refused to work on them.
That roof system is insane
Elon's Worst Nightmare has happened. A 94 Celica is Better than the Model S or Plaid.. Being fast doesn't mean Squat if it doesn't last. Just ask the Tortoise 🐢 and Hare. 🐇
My 2.0 TDi Eos has 190,000miles on it and, touch wood, no major issues!
Do you have a manual transmission?
Diesel engine runs forever.
@@AndrewFaust-dh7kg yeh proper ;-)

Scotty just buy a ford then retire , you have been around forever.
Scotty, you're killing me with the splashy headlines. I don't even know what you're going to talk about, so I stopped watching your channel. Just a heads up. I know you're going to do you no matter what! 😉
"What the heck is this" 😂😂
I saw those, and thought it would be cool to have one, but horrid as soon as the first thing on it broke.
