    I always put some aluminum foil over the exhaust pipe so the oil from the oil filter does not get on the pipe. And I would have used a 3 inch extension on the socket when removing the drain plug so I would not come in contact with the hot exhaust pipe. Also would put a little film of oil on the O ring of the filter cap before replacing it. Better to be lubed, dry against dry more chance of wearing out the O ring sooner.

    Great video love the details. One little trick I Learned was wrapping aluminum foil around the exhaust pipe so it doesn't get oily when draining.

      federal law requires that warranty be maintained even if you never take it to a dealer for service.

      If you forgot to tighten the drain plug and lost the oil, there would be no warranty for that.

      @@jiujitsu2000 I am actually going to trade my 2019 Iron 883 and get a Monkey. I am a beginner and I feel like the 883 is just too much bike for me. I love the way the Monkey looks. Had I known about them before getting my 883 I would have gotten that instead.

    Thanks for the excellent video. straight forward instructions. I do have a question on another matter. there is some kind of moisture trap ( clear plastic cylinder) that needs to be checked and or drained. do you know what it is called and where it is located. 2022 monkey. dealer had to drain mine, did not see it done. thanks

      i just put a Gold Bolt magnetic on my 2024 monkey add the plug it never hurts

    On the 2019-21 models the oil spinner would get grime and metal shavings accumulated there on the first oil change. Would you need to clean the spinner on the 22+ models or is it not required at all?

      @@jiujitsu2000 I always check the valves at the first oil change whether it's required in the manual or not. Better safe than sorry. You don't know if the idiot at the factory actually set them correctly. It's smarter to check them within the first 300 miles.

    What about guarantee, in US you can change the oil by yourself? In Poland you can not do the oil change on your own otherwise your guarantee is canceled. And they ask for oil change 550 zł! ($ 125!).

    I followed everything exactly and I'm not seeing anything in my sight glass? I've ran it for a few minutes and still nothing? And a few times now, still nothing, totally dry :(... I put in the whole quart :(...IDK... I'll go ask the Face Book group ;)
