I never realized how witty the Prof. Arguelles could be. Really great, practical information here.

As I listened to Professor Arguelles I couldn't help but think of Cal Newport's "Deep Work". The Professor is living proof of this deep work concept in practice.

Excellent point - I like professor Alex's quote: "You just have to show up and do the work."

I could listen to Prof. Arguelles all day long. He and Lydia Machová are my favourite polyglots.

He has such a lovely voice. I could listen to him reading the phone book... preferably in Russian.

I actually agree. He has a curiously inviting voice, a very light baritone.

That as well as his charming, articulate accent.

He did read Assimil Russian in one if his videos

I think otherwise: his observations and ideas are so interesting but he has such a nervous style of speaking that it is hard to follow and not become nervous, too. I was astonished that he spoke about meditation and breathing exercises because this I would have been suggesting him to do

I used to watch Professor Arguelles' videos years ago! I was afraid something terrible happened to him because I haven't seen anything from him in such a long time. Glad to know he is around and about still :)

He is purring because he is a cat. I am learning languages because I'm a polyglot. So true, but I haven't realised it before. Thank you for giving me this insight!

Same here - I really enjoyed his videos and his explanations are straight forward and so clear. He was one of the first people I heard explain how to do the shadowing method. I like to rewatch his videos sometimes as well.

About the stamina and the routine: be a house wife and a mother😂😂, it is typically men that talk about creating routines (in language learning)

summary: he wanted to be a polyglot he resisted the commitment to it for 30 years, even more than that he wanted to be a writer which he started doing after 50 years. he felt that same resistance again but it was pretty easy for him because he had already developed the auto didactic skills needed to pursuit something like that.
