I have been looking at various grain mils on and off for the last 10 years and wasn't convinced on any of the mills I came across..
Thank you for the review and for making my decision easy. I ordered my #99 yesterday.
    Cheers

Good to see you and mom working together as a team. I think a lot of people loose sight of how important team work is. With a team you can play to each others strong suits. Two heads are better than one. Nice having an expert and master cook in the house! Can't wait to eat some of her home cooking. Love you guys.

And one day, the mill will be your inheritance. That's such a fortune.

Wow!! I Just discovered your videos today and I just want to say what a nice job you have done on them. You and your wife are both very helpful in how you explained everything about the GrainMaker grain mill and the bread making. Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to make such wonderful, informative videos! Bonnie Jones

Great video. Thanks for taking the time to post it. I have an antique grinding mill which I use with a hit and miss antique engine. It's good to see that the old technology is still being reproduced and appreciated.

Excellent review of the mill. Thanks for sharing. After seeing your review I went ahead and ordered one for myself. I decided to get the no. 116, even though the no. 99 is all I would ever need.

Very informative, step by step video. This mill is a "BEAST"! It is a solid, well made piece of equipment which can no doubt be passed on to future generations if our country should continue to exist as it currently is. (Good luck with that)

I thought my Country Living grinder was expensive. Very nice video. Burring wheels keep the heat down to maintain nutrients.

Gainmaker mill is way better built than countryliving grainmill. Gainmaker mill has sealed bearing where are countryliving has shielded bearing. The machining quality and engineering of grainmaker mill is the best of the best. I have both mills and there is no comparison.

Comparing this machine to the wonder junior is like comparing a concrete driveway to an asphalt drive. No comparison. The quality of the machining is obvious. Yes more expensive but the difference in everything, sealed bearings the broad vertical stand fully welded, a base which can be bolted down. Remember all the torque that is created in the engagement of the auger has to be transferred through the mount. A fragile mount is the end of the machine. Very glad to have happened on your video. I know what I am going to get.

I know your video is 4 years old, but it was very informative. I want to buy a grain mill that will last decades/generations, not like the plastic/throw-away garbage they want us to re-buy every two years. Just my opinion. Peace.

First, let me say what an appreciation I have for the fact that you have shelves of books everywhere... and not a television in site.
Appreciate the review. I would have liked to see some of the internal parts or the process to take it apart for cleaning etc.
It looks like a well made machine but what is that horrible noise when you turn it with nothing left in it? It sounds like it uses dry rubber bushings or something...
I've always loved and wanted the Diamant and like the fact that it's cast iron. This is the first one that could maybe change my mind, but not too sure.

Thank you for your video! I researched grain mills and your video was the deciding factor. One question, when you mount it on the cutting board, is the mill stable enough to mill on its own or do you have to hold or attach the cutting board to something?

I like the bicycle attachment idea. Maybe a truck belt as drive belt? I dunno how thick truck belts are. Just throwing the idea out there. Make a steel stand (out of old office desk legs for example) to elevate the front of the bicycle.

    Hello
Could anybody suggest what spare parts it is convenient to buy with the mill? I was thinking perhaps: an extra set of burr and shaft & bearings. I am not sure about the auger..
Also, have you got any experience with the Homestead Huller kit? How often is it necessary to change the huller replacement pads?
I am based in Italy and perhaps it is more cost-effective to order extra parts with the mill...
    Thank you very much!

I have been shopping online everywhere I can to try to find a cheaper grain meal come to find out. I thought I would just try a household blender and it was amazing 5 bucks at my thrift store and it's still grinding after 6 years. I can make cornmeal. I can make it as fine as I want and only 5 bucks.
