Wally Backman is a manager that anyone would love playing for. I wish I had a manager like that in my playing career. He could yell at you and destroy you one day and the next pick you up and give you the motivation any player needs to succeed. Old school and no nonsense.
I had a coach that was like that my freshman year. He got results. The next coach that came in was everyone’s friend. He did not get great results, but he’s beloved. I would’ve preferred the first.
I know baseball and softball are 2 completely different sports... But I played softball from the time I was 4 years old until the end of my senior year of high school. I loved my coach and all, don't get me wrong, but I would have LOVED to have this guy coaching me. Or someone like him.
When I played back in HS. I just (at times) went with my own baseball-minded instincts. I bunted, stole a base and hit whenever the situation allowed. I was never any good at reading signs. But after watching the coach explain the signs that are going to be used, I kinda regret not knowing it back then. But now I have a better understanding of what to do in a game by following the signs, correctly.
I had to chuckle at Wally in the background... "Is there any way that we are gonna get our pants dried before game?" "How do you start this dryer?" "Fuck, our stuff's dry already."
Yup, if you played softball young lady then its the same as baseball. I watch softball all the time and you ladies are just as skilled as men are. Wally Backman was a really great player and Im sure he's a great manager. And this is comikng from a Red Sox fan!! ha

Your dad didn’t yell at you enough?
A manager that actually preaches fundamentals
Wally Backman needs to come manage the Mets....
"Do the partying that you need to party but be ready when you come to the baseball field".. Legit
He knows all about that being with the '86 Mets
Wally Backman was a hella player. He was playing semi pro at 14. Never played middle league youth ball. Way advanced. Best bunter of his era.
Definitely
I love Backman! He should be in the majors
All the videos I've seen, He's not just some coach who rants at the umpire.
Love Wally Backman 1986 New York Mets World Series Champion 🏆 1986 🇺🇸⚾✝️🙏❤️🇺🇸
Haha the ending is hilarious. Guy 1: "Go Nuts." Guy 2: "...Go Nut sack"
Haha. I actually never noticed that until you pointed it out. Thanks!
Wally has the smile of a veteran major league manager

thats crazy that his championship ring came from the same world series as the one with the Buckner incident.

Once his former 86 Mets bullpen catcher John Gibbons gets fired this summer by the Blue Jay's, I hope Toronto hires this guy.
great baseball club
Sorry if this is late and you have probably figured this out, but the South Georgia Peanuts are an independent team.
No one's. They are independent. You could probably see why.

Only the Skipper can curse. Anyone else and the clubhouse will turn you off. It's how the hierarchy works.
You should sit in a college baseball dugout.
Who's minor league team is this?
South Georgia Peanuts in Albany, GA
Yeah but for what majors team?
It was an independent league.
What league are they playing in?
@@dalemcilwainsouth coast league, folded after a year due to poor higher management
Man I miss professional baseball. Coach Blackman reminds me of my Jucco coach so much.
