MORGAN is a hermaphrodite, something she told her partner Curtis before they first met. "I was born an intersex woman, and that is when you are born with female and male parts," she explained. They had matched and been chatting on a dating app, then instantly clicked once they met up that same evening. Five days later they were engaged, and they have been together ever since. However, after the couple began posting about their romance online, people would question Curtis's sexual identity: "Sometimes people think that my husband is gay because I'm intersex," Morgan explained. But she disregards these comments from strangers who don't understand his love for her: "He's just OK with me being different and understanding that I have both parts. That I am more feminine than anything else." Trolls on social media also don't believe that Morgan's condition is real. She is bombarded with remarks like "that's a man, we know", "girl go seek help", and "dude in a dress with a gut". Despite these claims, the couple stand firm with who they are and know they are on the right path. "If people don't like who I'm with and who I'm dating, all I can do is ignore them or pray for them," Curtis said.

My kid sister was born with congenital adrenal hyperplasia and it causes ambiguous genitalia. She lived to be 26, she had just turned 26 a couple of months before she passed away. People can’t help how they’re born. She was bullied relentlessly because she looked very masculine in a lot of ways, but she was female. People accused her of being trans but she wasn’t. People please be kind. You never know someone’s story.

What pisses me off most is that she couldn’t get proper prenatal care. She lives in the USA not some third world country. There should’ve been at least 1 clinic who could’ve referred her to the right hospital or obgyn. She’s so strong for having gone through that and still be able to smile.

That’s because the old belief was that an intersex person couldn’t get anyone pregnant or get pregnant. So there aren’t doctors out there with the experience to really care for a patient in her condition. A lot times it comes to protecting themselves as professionals until someone goes out on the limb to actually try.

This is a real thing. I know someone who was intersexed as well. Some parents choose to get surgery on the intersexed child before they can choose for themselves, and this is one of the reasons why we think it's not as common. However, we are learning that a lot of intersexed children are angry and upset because they may lean more towards one gender over the other, or they'd rather just be the way that they are born. My point is that there isn't just male and female, and we shouldn't judge the people who just so happen to be both nor should be force them to choose to be one or the other. I wish them all the best!

Unfortunately, it is not illegal. As a physician myself, I would NEVER deny anyone from receiving healthcare, especially from me. In the medical community I have been criticized for my view, but I believe healthcare is a HUMAN RIGHT.

My mom said she went school with a girl that was intersex. They didn’t know terms like that then. It was the 40s in the country. She said the girl raised her skirt and showed everyone. I know life had to be hard for them growing up during Jim Crow in the south. My mom is now close to 90 and still remembers seeing that girl with both parts asa 7 year old

I grew up and one of my classmates her sister was born this way she was raised a girl. This is why we need to stop judging people love your life and let others live theirs. Thank you for sharing your story I pray that you will be able to conceive again and enjoy your family.
About 50 yrs ago I was working in a hospital and I was sitting in on a nurse shift change and they were talking about a lady that just delivered a baby with both parts the parents made the decision to have raised the child as a boy, a few years ago I saw thos child on a documentary and he was telling how he found out about his issues is when he started his period in the boys locker room.I was hard broken listening to his life growing up because the parents never told him.

I think it’s up to the parents, but when puberty happens parents should disclose the majority of things even family history of medical conditions & addictions. It will save your children in the long run.

Doctors had to be careful because gradually one sex will dominate. A similar case happened when the child was raised as a child but grew up to be a child.

When I lived in Jonesboro Arkansas was the first time I heard of that being common because if you don’t establish care early in your pregnancy doctors there would not see you and women were driving 2 hours to Little Rock just to see a doctor if possible. It may be various reasons other than that but its possible for doctors to choose to not see you. I asked why to the women I came across and they said the doctors said it was high risk and they didn’t want to be held liable if something went wrong due to lack of proper care previously or something like that. So thinking of that reason I’m assuming in her case the doctors didn’t have experience with an intersex pregnancy and didn’t want to be liable either.

@@d.d.sherman6502 They definitely went to the the ER to deliver (my youngest sister is one of them this happened to plus a couple coworkers there and said this is common there cause I was shocked) so you’re right but was having a hard time being seen at a doctors office during the pregnancy which is sad since they didn’t establish care early on. I know somone in the same situation. Born a hermaphrodite and raised as a girl. They were very uncomfortable in that role. When they became an adult they made their choice on how they wanted to live. Now married to a beautiful woman he is a great husband and provider to his family.

I’m seeing a lot of comments here referring to her as a “he” and stating that this isn’t possible. I don’t know if you people have been living under a rock, but it’s more than possible, and I know this because I’m one of these people. I was born with a typical male presentation in the lower region, however I later found out after years of abdominal pains that were labelled “IBS” and “gynocomastia” that I had a female reproductive system and female chromosomes. I on the other hand choose to continue living as a male (which comes with a lot of challenges) as that’s how I was raised, but I sadly will always be aware of the fact that I’m biologically female. Knowing is sometimes a curse. Stop making these stupid comments which have no real basis to them. This isn’t something to joke around about, you people have no idea how conflicting the lives are of people born intersex like me. Another recurring comment I’ve seen here I want to address is, Intersex people aren’t transgender, that’s a completely different thing. Transgender people identify as another gender based on feeling, we are born with presentations of both sexes and it has nothing to do with how we identify ourselves. Most who are intersex will stick with the sex they was raised as, as this isn’t a choice we make. We just want to be normal. We have so many troubles in our path that we don’t speak about, and this is why we don’t speak about them. People judge us for something we have no control over. Your misconceptions ruin lives. This isn’t a choice, we’re born like this. It’s cruel and heartless.

That is so unethical and they could have signed her up for a trial at a University. I’m not well versed with pregnancy and labor with intersex people however, there has got to be someone who can help her. I really hope they can conceive again and have their baby.

I had a patient that had the same and she was married to a doctor. Together they had three healthy boys. I know she was loved by all in her family and did not find it anyones business but their own. Your husband loves you for who you are and you are highly favored and blessed.

In middle school there was a girl that had both male and female parts, she was so cool to be around that everyone that knew her loved her fun personality. She hung out with boys because she was athletic, and girls because she had a great personality. I remember they had us change in the locker room for PE and the sixth graders would wait until she left and go “who let a boy in?” “Ew what were they doing in here?” (Making fun of her everyone in school knew). Everyone in our grade (7th) who heard went to defend her instantly. It goes to show that when people are drawn to how great of a person you are, what you have going on in terms of gender, sexuality, whatever doesn’t matter because they like you for you ❤.

Heartbreaking that they lost her baby. It's extremely rare to have ovotesticular syndrome which I'm guessing is case here. And in most of these cases the ovaries are the dominant gonads which makes sense as to why she felt more feminine and as to why she is fertile as a woman. I hope doctors can help her carry a child to term.

I did some reading about this conditions and the breakdowns say what you said...that typically the ovaries are dominant. But along with that, that renders the testes not functional because of the massive production of Estrodial/Estrogen. It says that it is extremely rare and basically non existent to be able to FATHER a child with that particular intersex condition. So if she indeed does have the specific condition you referenced, she would not be able to Father children (as she said here) and also mothering children is also very rare with this condition. The condition itself is extremely rare.

Morgan's words "I exist." That's a powerful statement. I saw Morgan on Instagram some months ago, during her pregnancy. but I didn't know she lost her baby. So sorry to hear this. I was hoping this couple could have the family they dreamed of. And it's a shame that Morgan was denied pre-natal care in her time of need. This was crucial to her baby's health and survival.
