Man, Bill seems shaken. Sucks he and the other guys had to go through this. Sucks that Pieter is a dick, hope he can change. The idea behind adapt is pretty cool. But im afraid he will just see the world against him and possibly victimize himself. Anyway, some people are criticizing the drama reports, but i think its a good thing. The industry is progressing. Riders have been treated badly for long enough. Calling it out and thus damaging a brands reputation sends a sign that you cant do shit like that anymore and just get away with it without consequence. Thanks for bringing out both of these statements for us to hear! I gave Pieter the benefit of the doubt before, but this is the nail in the coffin. Hopefully not just for me. Cheers!

We should all want the community to grow, emotionally and physically. Violence is not acceptable. Threats are not acceptable. Can we forgive? Sure, but steps need to be taken to right the wrong actions. Whatever that takes, it's up to the parties involved, not the court of public opinion. We should completely rally around anyone who has been unjustly treated and support them. This stuff needs to come to light so the victims can heal, and possibly even the aggressor. I hope we can all be adults about this, and seeing the response, I'm pretty confident we can help each other move forward. Personally, I cannot continue to support Adapt after all of these testimonies. They will need to begin grand gestures towards those they've wronged for me to turn an eye to them again. I love this community, lets keep it alive and healthy for the next generations to enjoy

I'd tried on a friends size 9 adapts they fit me perfectly, they said "no you get a size 8, trust us that's right" I told them they won't fit, they still made them and sent as a size 8, I sold them after 2/3 sessions.

There's also a youtube vid from a guy complaining about materials being crap on older ones that got flagged and taken down because Pieter can't take criticism either.

Sad to hear you had this experience. Just to play "the devil's advocate" here: I had a pretty good experience with them and was also really scared they were way too small but I had a pretty helpful conversation about it / made pictures etc. When I tried them for the first time, I thought they were too small because my toes were so close to the front. After some sessions (probably a bit more than 3 though), and later heat moulding, I completely got used to it though and now I'm very happy I chose that size (which is also the "correct" size given the length of my feet but I just wasn't used to it). So maybe they've had occasions in the past where people actually bought them too big and this is where they're coming from. Or at least I hope for them that's the case, in terms of doing business it wouldn't make sense at all to sell somebody the wrong size..

To be fair, this is stuff that could do a lot of damage to your company. Heavily depending on the whole story behind it (which I'm not aware of), but in certain cases I can understand such sentiments. So I'm always very conservative with my own judgments with these things, although I can definitely understand the decisions Bill Stoppard and other people involved took here and I hope the Adapt people will take it as a lesson.

As we get older as an industry this seems to be such a massive issue. You hear stuff about all the brands and I commend the professionalism of some our greatest pros, am, and flow riders for dealing with this for so long. But being quiet doesn't help our industry. I can also get the argument of niche buisness vs the easy going culture we have. We gotta put our dollars behind the companies that do it right. I'd love for there to be a anonymous survey for sponsored pros/riders to rate the companies they ride for. I'd love to see who does it right, wrong, and in between. I would like to put my dollars behind those doing it right to create better standards in our industry. Just a thought.

if they do stop making aggressive skates that would be a shame. But realistically they try to make the Lamborghini of skates, and succeed to a point. Most people can’t afford them and they’re a pain to maintain and completely impractical for daily use. People would get by without them. That said, I don’t want to see that happen the point of all this is for Pietr to take some personal responsibility for treating people like shit. This is far from gossip. Journalism is simple - it is reporting on things that have happened or that are happening. What happened was...two more former Adapt riders spoke on their experience with the brand and the owner. That is being reported on here, in this video. That is journalism. If someone doesn't like it, then they only like journalism that supports their views. And that, as we know, is a huge problem with the world today (and probably always has been). I have been an artist for 50 years, I received many great prizes at the beginning of my career. you skaters think you're artists because you're discussing royalties. I have nothing to say on this but I will share with you my experience on this subject. an artist does not exist without a production company, record company or prestigious concert hall.. alone, even extremely talented, he is nothing and the reverse is true, that is to say that a mediocre artist supported by cronyism or family ties, will be on the front of the stage and recognized. Why am I saying that? well, the skaters who criticize Adapt are only demonstrating for all to see, including their resumes, that they are disloyal and unreliable. they shoot themselves in the foot. do you think big brands will trust them now?

    • @wheelsceneblading

So a skater should remain loyal to a brand even if they disagree with how the brand is run or how they are treated. What you are describing is compliance.
