Hey everyone, Welcome to my Total War: Warhammer 2 Dark Elves campaign. This early access copy has been provided to me by Creative Assembly to share with all of you. Also I will properly use the rotation for spells in part two, thank you for reminding me. It's an old Warhammer 1 habit. I will be providing every battle timestamp below since it's a fairly long video. Part two of this let's play will be up 9/25/17 (September 25th) at 3 P.M. BST / 10 A.M. EST / 9 A.M. CST / 7 A.M. PST. 08:25 - vs Skaven (Land Battle) 31:15 - vs Skaven (Land Battle) 50:10 - vs Chaos (Quest Battle: Circlet of Iron) With the crazy changes to TH-cam. Your interaction with a video is more important than ever. Your likes and comments will help me out immensely!
Man i've noticed your channel since your first VC campaign and i've gotta say..where have you been my whole life? You have the highest quality campaigns i've ever seen,we learn about the lore and enjoy the battles at the same time because of you,do keep it up man!
I concur - thanks! Your campaigns are really mostly fun to watch, though I'd prefer if you paused occasionally to show the new modded maps you meet in the VC campaigns, plus it would be nice to be able to go a little more into detail about tactical battle choices and strategical campaign choices. I should add, that I only play single player, and I like to take my time going into details, so playing the battles and the strategic campaign turns through so quickly is not my own style. Besides the very interesting campaign and battle stories you add some extremely exiting stuff from the lores - more, of this, please. Much more! Also please add more about gaming/short-cut tricks like how to attack-when-meeting-enemy-units when on the move. That is quite educational, actually. Cool! I would suggest adding a list of the short-cuts you use in the text under every video where you use them, if you are not already doing this. And something irrelevant to the quality of your videos, but I cannot help asking you if you are a very religious person? Try to count the number of 'oh my god' and 'my god', etc., etc. in your videos. It is really staggering how many times you express these phrases... Anyway, overall it is splendid work, much like watching exciting fantasy movies, really - cool - and hopefully fun for you as well. Thank you for providing top quality content to TH-cam. :-)
The Doubts of the Dark Captain, First Stage of the War of the Vortex The Altar of Ultimate Darkness had a positively creepy atmosphere to it. Considering that this was where the Everchosen were gifted with the Mark of Chaos Undivided, a place of veneration of the Ruinous Powers, Slaanesh included, so it was understandable that Elves, even Druchii, would feel uneasy in those ruins. That said, the Witch-King was not like most Elves. Malekith meditated on the last events that took place in his kingdom. A twin-tailed comet soaring above the skies, like a herald from sent by the heavens. Skaven invading. And more concerning of all, more and more royal families and factions of Druchii started to openly oppose Malekith, but not without reason, unfortunately, since time and time again, the Witch-King had failed to take over Ulthuan. Prior to arriving at the Altar, he had to quell a rebellion near Naggarond. A pathetic attempt against throne that was swiftly dealt with. Even more foolish were the actions of the Skaven from Clan Septik. In less than a week, Malekith successfully wiped the entire Clan, those who were not slain were made into slaves. He would need all the advantages he could take in order to achieve mastery over Caledor's Vortex. Allies being amongst these advantages, and that being a resource that was dwindling. He remembered discussing what should be his next step with Kouran Darkhand, the Captain of the Blackguard and his personal bodyguard, and one of his oldest and most loyal allies, possibly the cloesest thing Malekith currently had for a genuine and honest friend. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Your Majesty, the fools of Hag Graef still go against your attempts at negotiation. But they are weak, should you decide to use your military might to bring them to their knees, they will fall quickly" Kouran said. "Fools indeed. From what I heard, it seems that some upstart noblewoman wrestled power of the city from Darkblade. It has been a long time since I last heard from him." Malekith commented. "Regardless, they will be brought to heel. Now, there is another subject to deal with. You are to split from the army and stay in Naggarond and act as a steward in my name. I have to ensure that nothingn like this happens again." Kouran tensed slightly, nonetheless he bowed to Malekith. "Don't worry, Malekith. Go in peace, knowing that Naggarond will remain the same way that you left it." He straighted up after Malekith gestured him to do so. "One must be always careful, Kouran. To watch out for their enemies and for their allies." Malekith said. "That is true, my lord. If I may speak..." Kouran paused, and only continued after Malekith gestured him to do so. "You should watch out for the Sorceress Heartkeeper. I imagine that after this is all done, the moment she gets her soul back, she will betray you. If anything, this whole ploy to get control of the Vortex could be one massive scheme." "No, if she plans to betray me, it will be after, not now, while her soul still belongs to me." Malekith said, waving his hand in an indifferent gesture. "Anything else you should like to share with me?" "Well, there is one thing..." Kouran paused, as if hesitating. "I think that you might want to keep an eye for the Hag Sorceress." "My mother? Why?" Malekith asked, sounding genuinely curious. "Yes, well. She may seem loyal to you, my lord. But she also was involved no short of schemes against you. Let's not forget her involvement in the death of Alissara." Kouran responded. Malekith didn't speak a word. The only sound that left his mouth was a guttural growl, as he remembered of the day when he learned of his wife's death. "Trust me, Kouran. There are things that can't be forgotten nor forgiven. Otherwise, we wouldn't continue to fight." Malekith turned his back to Kouran and made his way out of the tower. "In the end. It won't matter. My friends and allies will be handsomely rewarded. And the enemies and traitors will burn by the fires of my hatred."
He eventually discovered. Publicly, he forgave her, but when the Wood Elves appeared at Grond's doorstep looking for revenge, Malekith forbade everyone from sending military support to Morathi, as revenge for her part in the murder of Alissara and just laughed at his mom's plight.
Only to the Dark Elves and the Lizardmen. I considered doing for the High Elves, as well, but there is another guy who will write those, anyway. I also considered writing one for the Skaven, but I'm struggling a little on the way that they talk. I sent a sample to a friend of mine, he said that the dialogue was too well structured to be something spoken by a Skaven.
I'm really late to notice your channel and i just began playing this game with the dark elves. I have to note how "professional" and precise you sound in your videos. You should be a teacher for all fellow youtubers out there. Good job
I don't know how to explain your awesome campaign commentary except this. You're like a car salesman. I know what I came here for, but you talk about it so smooth, I'm even more glad I came.
Ohh man just found this and love it .Enjoy watching your battles i would love to see Malekith take on the Tomb Kings those battles would be epic.. Keep up the great work
you can change the trajectory of chillwind while you hold alt I think, give it a try off camera and see if it works. also amazig playthrough surreal. Also thanks for the lore info much appreciated
You know Malekith has a lot of experience fighting chaos I mean he led a 100 year crusade against them in the north where he found the iron circlet which let him manipulate magic in ways he wasn't before.
Hey surreal! Great video, I dont know if u noticed u can direct spells now by holding left mouse button, this way u dont need to move ur lord to cast spells effectively, PS sorry for the bad writing i dont usually write english that much... byee
Very good, Just got the game but have played lots of STW and am a big warhammer fan. i like the approach. i think i will try it your way as im used to playing as undead.
So basically Sauron, or even Morgoth. Can't wait to play a mortal empires campaign, conquer ulthuan, and use it as a springboard to invade the old world; starting with the orcs.
I guess you could try to get a second army in Naggarond and just raid it for rebellions, you will loose some growth and maybe go into negative income, but you could ramp up your economy with the slaves, and level up a new general. Also with the post battle loot, you might get more money per turn, than you loose. At least I would try that. :D
Did they update the way enemy units behave? On that first attack on Very Hard the Skaven DO NOT run at me (because they are defending) and they DO NOT clump up like that. They wait for me to get close to them and then spread out into two massive flanks and surround me...
My game the Skaven stuck themselves into a corner, made me move forward, and when I got into range they completely split their armies and used a numbers advantage to immediately offline my missiles....and rhen malekith got shit on in a 1 v 1 with their lord which I think was because RNG gave their lord poison attacks. Started again and their lord no longer has poison
I got too frustrated playing Teclis so I thought hey, why not try a witch king? Surely his all-powerful armies will have no problem crushing his opponents. Then I got to that temple thing after destroying the Skaven and learned how bad I am at TW. Every time I've played this battle out, I have a superior force and they just gnaw through my front line, split it in half and hammer/anvil either side. I'm usually close to dead before his reinforcements make it onto the field. I'm going to try your strategy, though. I guess using a witch king should be much less conservative as I've been using him. Though this battle has seen my witch king slain a few times already. Thank goodness for quick saves.
Because the sheer aggressive spellcasting and power levels of the Druchii make the HE a questionable bet. I bet Teclis gets more playthroughs than his brother. I have a suggestion tho... save the Druchii for last. I have a feeling aprt from the tomb Kings they will be the most interesting faction by far, besides faction updates will be coming in soon. Wait for the new units. Trust me I waited for Vlad and Isabella- loved the hell out of both those campaigns. Slog through the more boring campaigns- that waqy you'll have b3etter stuff to look forward to. Oh and 1 suggestion- for Lizardmen pick Kroq-Gar. Maz and Tyr can be that idle playthrough you start later on- kinda like Thorgrim- altho Grom did add some flavor.
I noticed even in your first battle you have an army ability over to the right that starts on a 60 second timer. I do not have that when I play the DE's.
I know I'm a few weeks late with this but that army ability is a regional one for naggarond only...any battles you fight in naggarond should have it but not any others. It functions a lot like the net spell from the lore of light
31:41 - if it were possible, I'd place the troops higher on those hills. Why? You want to waste the vigor of the enemy troops so they become "Very Tired". They'll rout quicker and easily.
Oh how I can´t wait to play this myself :D And how I hope there will be a talented mod-creator making Malus Darkblade as a legendary Lord or at least Hero^^"
Malus will inevitably come as a proper legendary lord in time. He's a very popular character and was a lord choice in the latest edition of the tabletop.
That would be great! Though I´d argue that Gotrek&Felix are even more popular than Malus and still had no appearance in the first game. I mean, yes, they are not Lord-material, they would never lead an army, but they would have fit the role of heros for the dwarfs or empire :(
Well we don't actually have legendary heroes in the game, and Gotrek and Felix weren't actually playable on tabletop for years. Malus by contrast is not only an iconic character but is one of only 2 DE special lords, apart from Malekith and Morathi, the rest of the special characters were all heroes. Malus will come, either as dlc or flc, I'd be money on it.
he is so op with magic. Is magic more important in Total War Warhammer 2? also where do you get your lore facts from? But all and all another great gaming campaign from you.
Its a REAPER bolt thrower, not REPEATER. Sorry was bugging me the whole time. Im gonna be watching every playthrough although i must say Dark Elves are my least favourite of the lot, Lizardmen are by far my favourites in terms of lore, armies etc etc. Skaven and high elves joint second.
@@latarshahall7618 one of two ways. 1. These cold ones are indigenous to Naggaroth and are therefore a different breed than those indigenous to Lustria. 2. Over time Dark Elves raided Lustrian shores and at some point captured some cold ones and took them back to Naggaroth where they then bred them to the point where they became part of the ecosystem.

will you do cult of pleasure next?
Hey Surreal, when it comes out or enters open beta, will you play Mordhau? Think Chivalry but much, MUCH, more refined.
You can now CHANGE the direction of your Wind Spells! Keep holding left click! Check out in Custom battles!

@Eric Kenzo are you a bot
"You notice an unfamiliar band of scavengers..."
How many bands of scavengers are Malekith familiar with??
A few out of sheer dark elf probability. Given how old he is and how long elves live. Even dark ones
"Yeah, I like to keep track of all the bands of scavengers in the world, just in cast the plot requires it."
@@Joemantler not that. But he has to know at least one
Malekith's pre-battle speech reminds me of Pin Head. "We have such sights to show you", and all that.
Finally someone that shows how to play as Dark Elves even tho it was more of a walkthrough but learned more about them now so thanks :)
Nigga are you doing every single one and recording and learning all the lore? You are so underrated
Frontline Medic Seriously
Frontline Medic Ik it's crazy

That ring of dead skaven around where Malekith was standing is so fucking satisfying to see...
And now we have begun
you know what i like about is that you r going straight to the point no more excessive talk

Malekith should actually be Morathi's mount option.

Malekith is absolutely powerful. That conduit ability literally wiped out about 100 or more Skaven. That was insane.
This is some S-tier content. Entertaining personality, gameplay and even educating on lore at the same time👌🏼
Thank you Joe! I'm happy to hear that.

You have some really amazing and high quality content. I'm new to the total warhammer series but really enjoying your stuff! thanks!
I just bought the game and was so lost hahaha. Now that I’ve seen someone play that gives me an idea. I’ve already gotten better. Thnx
Don't forget you can aim wind spells now! left click and hold.
Yup! It's a Warhammer 1 habit.

Wow that magic around 33:00 just mass-destroyed the light skaven units lol. That was pretty incredible. Fitting for the dark elves hahaha
It really did.
I love how you always mix bits of background information and knowledge into your playthroughs. Thanks for yet another great start of a new series. :)
I like your videos man... hope to see every faction gran campaign.. keep it going! cheers from Portugal!.

I'm glad! Let me know if you have any questions.
Dark elves are my favorite campaign you're playing right now. Malekith can destroy an entire army all on his own within seconds.
He's pretty powerful for sure.
I don't actually have the game. My computer can't run the first game so I can't get the second game until I get an upgrade.
Very enjoyable to watch and learned a bunch of tricks, thanks!
Very good, Just got the game but have played lots of STW and am a big warhammer fan. i like the approach. i think i will try it your way as im used to playing as undead.

I think it would be smart to decide who to fight next based on who owns the cities that provide scrolls per turn...
Started a campaign with these guys recently. Slave mechanic is interesting. Constant need for battle/raiding to perform rituals.

There is a High Elf campaign too!

Bet money, I mean
They weren´t?o.o I´m kinda shocked, but ok, that does make sense. And again, I hope you´re right :)
Im new to this even tough i do not understand everything i find this very interesting
You can use one of the commandments to get rid of slaves if you have to.
YA JUST GOT A NEW SUB MAN
I am so new to this game :(
It is a lot to take in :O
he is so op with magic. Is magic more important in Total War Warhammer 2? also where do you get your lore facts from? But all and all another great gaming campaign from you.
Magic is much more important. I get my info from my army books.
Not bad!
- Would it not be awesome as the dark elves to a commander called Sauron and a city called Mordor!? :D
Guess that also works for the orcs. Though not as good.
I hope they add chaos dwarves
You probably already know this but.
Total war warhammer 3 adds chaos dwarves and a shit more
When you make a Morathi campaign? :(
oh cant wait to play the shit out of it when it comes out
Its a REAPER bolt thrower, not REPEATER. Sorry was bugging me the whole time. Im gonna be watching every playthrough although i must say Dark Elves are my least favourite of the lot, Lizardmen are by far my favourites in terms of lore, armies etc etc. Skaven and high elves joint second.
Yeah, I realized afterwards.
Damn you play so well :D
you know you can rotate your chill wind?
Has he recruited a hero in this video? Im struggling with that. I get thr quest very early but never have any available heroes to recruit :D
i just started this campaign, and don't have the army abilities just malekith's spells. what am i missing?
How did Dark Elves get Cold-Ones?
Was asking myself the same
@@latarshahall7618 one of two ways.
Malekith is like darth vader
