That roundabout concept is good, the implementation is lacking, which is made worse by US drivers in general being uneasy around roundabouts. You spent a lot of time freaking out about where you should line up early on during most of them, which shows that better signage is needed. In the Netherlands I see those types of roundabouts from time to time, and you really just need to get a bit of familiarity with their design to stop being uneasy around them even when you discover them somewhere you haven't been before.
The problem is US drivers getting a chance to build up that familiarity. Seeing one every six months will not help you learn shit; you need to see them weekly for a while to build that familiarity.
You are where I live.. I know it is confusing we ALL hate that Round about. ALOT of AR trucks like to flip on its side on that round about.. we shamed the Hell out of the "architects" of that roundabout. My 13 year old son could have done a better job.
I don't do truck driving anymore I went back into steel fabrication but I still love watching your videos.. every now and then you pass my home and I've even seen you pass my work. I know you've taken a break but if you get back into it and come back around this area throw A wave out there Cause I watch the Hell out of you my man. Also every Online truck that I see I wave at. Not knowing if it's you or not while also not trying to be too distracting..

Oh this is hilarious. I live near Jeffersonville and have used that specific way you went just once, never again. They put those in a few years back for just the heck of it - no real reasoning for them. That 30MPH zone is patrolled by the Utica town marshal & volunteer officers - they're super big on issuing tickets in these zones, be careful ha!
It's a turbo roundabout, at least that's what we call them in the Netherlands. The idea is that you can follow the markings on the road and they will guide you from the inside to the outside. Biggest advantage for you is that you don't have to worry about cars on your sides. (Except for the one which had 2 lanes for left turns which seems poorly designed, but Ican understand why they did it. )
Technically it's not a turbo roundabout because it lacks physical lane seperation on the roundabout (not just a solid line for road markings but an actual hump about 3 inches high inbetween the lanes).
@@keokiracerhalsteren Yeah, that would make it easier to follow the lane correctly on the circle itself, but impossible to change lanes of you make a mistake and get in the wrong lane.
@@kempo_95 Yes, but the whole point of the turbo roundabout is to make it impossible to change lanes while in the roundabout, forcing drivers to pick the correct lane before entering. It's the lack of lane changing on the roundabout that makes them safer than regular multi-lane roundabouts.
It’s a turbo roundabout, cause you’re supposed to get close then stomp on the gas and just jump into any lane you want to. That’s what I always see everyone doing 😂🤷♂️
Lets be fair, even a simple roundabout is difficult to Americans and sometimes even for Europeans. 😅
we have a roundabout in Australia it's 2 or 3 roundabouts they all link in with one another watching people who don't understand it is always stressful.

thats why i always use the left lane in a round about, then your trailer rides the round about and doesn't go into the other lane.
I don't see how u can go to sleep at 1 or 2 in the afternoon and start in the middle of the night lol I usually try to shut down around 4 or 5 and start around 4 am

When sliding tandems and they reach the back, I always release my trailer brake to push the pins out, then pull down on my johnson bar to make sure the trailer wheels don't move then I go in reverse so ensure those pins knock into those last holes. Then you can just release the johnson bar and continue your way to the dock.
Merry Christmas Dave! Enjoy your break from trucking this winter! I've been driving for 5 and a half years now but only in the last three months have I officially been doing more regional OTR type stuff. Driving straight truck flatbeds (6mos), day cabs with 36' and 48' reefers (3.5 yrs), and hauling US Mail with a sleeper and a 53' but slip seating and home every night (1 yr). Just worked 11 days in a row, working on recap hours and the whole thing. I finally feel like a real trucker haha. Any advice for someone that's wanting to start their own TH-cam channel recording their daily adventures? I have my go pro and a few mounts, but I think I'm just scared to actually put content out there haha

Hey Dave (and all of Dave's fans/subscribers). Ive got a rookie-question; How often do y'all put a padlock on the trailer? Is it pretty common to leave the trailer-doors unlocked (& if its pretty common, how often does stuff get stolen?)?
I put a lock on mine all the time even when I’m empty just in case someone decides to hop in at a truck stop. Also, I keep one on when I’m loaded to help prevent tampering and general peace of mind on my end that I’m delivering the load as it was loaded. I haven’t ever had anything stolen, but I imagine it does and can happen if you’re careless about it. Hope that helps!
@@happinessiskey2858 Thanks. I only lasted a week with my first trucking-company (havent been able to find a good trucking fig since). For that week, I had the DC's seals and my deadbolt on the trailer; Of the three delivery locations, they said i was the first driver that that theyve seen put a lock on the trailer, and they were glad that i did because it told them that i didnt want their stuff stolen or tampered with

That’s good you put one on there for extra insurance. I know they’re pretty easy to get into if you try, but they still provide enough protection to make people avoid them. Plus, most of the time the stuff in those trailers is too heavy or big to move without causing an obvious sign something’s going on.

For the most part your video is accurate but once you made turn at end of the road. It's not real. I live in Indiana same area you was in but content isn't correct is all fake
