In 1988 I was working for Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula , MS on BB64 the USS Wisconsin.I was only 24 at the time. We were to pull all the old (WWII) cables out of the ship for a retro fit to new stuff. That experience (I went throughout the whole ship...7 decks I think...maybe more) gave me an incredible respect for our sailors who served in the US navy during that time. I cannot even describe that experience on my life!!!
Keith, proud you made such a significant contact. I have been trying to contact the ISS, and plan to continue until successful. From S.E.Tenn., 73 KQ4IXD
My father served aboard the U.S.S. IOWA during WWII and I would love to have been able to work the station aboard the ship. Right now I can't work anyone anywhere. A lack of material and financial issues. Glad you made contact with them! Congrats! 73, WB4RHA
My grandfather during WWII served on the USS Kenneth M Willett destroyer. They had a station aboard as well and I wish they didn't sink the shop at decommission. Wouldn't loved to see it in person in this life.
Very cool!
