      Joel Embiid is 7 ft meaning he only has about 1 or 2 inches on other players in his position. Cousins, Gasol, Towns, Jokic are all 7 ft and they don’t dominate like Embiid does. The shortest center in the nba is 6’9”. Any 6’9” nba player can easily block a 7 ft tall player if he doesn’t have skills.

    • @thatnativeking1333
      @thatnativeking1333 6 ปีที่แล้ว +161

      Well I didn’t play high school but I’m playing college ball at a d2 school. I’m a 6’3 SG so it’s possible to at least play college. I was going to play football but I ruptured my achilles so I had to change Sports. It sucked cause I was a 250lb tight end so I had to lose weight so I practically starved myself for 3 months to get down to 190. I worked out from 5-8am on just basketball drills then went to work/school from 930-6 and would lift weights or play pick up ball from 7-9. You just have to constantly practice. Don’t go in the gym and just shoot, go in and do drills work on dribbling, do sprints, do defensive drills and layups.

    Steve Nash could be mentioned as some of the guys listed in the video only succeeded because of their heigh. Nash trained soccer in his childhood as his father used to be a professional player. His brother who he played with even went pro in soccer. It wasn’t until he turned 13 when he started playing basketball. You could’ve mentioned him alongside Giannis who also began at that age.

      Matas Repecka oh shit I forgot about this lmao, well I’m 17 now going into my senior year. I didn’t make a basketball team my freshman or sophomore year and although part of it if not most of it was due to my lack of skills, it was also the coach’s fault for not giving a 6’3 freshman the chance to improve on a freshman team which I still find dumb. Those coach’s got fired before my junior year and I made the JV team, my biggest problem was I didn’t know or was scared to get hurt or hustle but by the end of the year I was bleeding after every practice and had a lot of fun and I felt I’ve been improving. This is my senior year now and I hope there’s basketball and I hope I haven’t regressed on my aggressiveness since there hasn’t been any practice since the shutdown. I have to make varsity this year obviously cus they aren’t gonna put a senior in JV lol, and I know that as long as I play my heart out I’ll make it. (Also I’m only 6’5 now so I was either lying about being 6’3 or I’ve only grown 2 inches lmao)

    I’m a 6 foot guy from the Philippines where that’s pretty tall by our standards, at the same time, where basketball is wildly popular. I played basketball on and off again, but practically gave up when I didn’t really get the hang of dribbling. Though when it comes to guarding or shooting, I could hold my own.
    Nevertheless, I practically gave up on the sport after I gave up on learning dribbling. Planning to start playing again, so I could settle some unfinished work, that is, learning the sport that I gave up on in the past.
    Thanks for the video for inspiring me.

    People don't realise how much athletic talent there is in africa, only a few people ever get a chance to build on that talent. if u ever go to west africa u will find out that people like giannis basically grows on trees

    • @hristo5689
      @hristo5689 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course there is. Soccer is by far the most popular sport in every single African country and some of the best soccer players, both in history and right now, are from Africa. Goes to show you that if they put efforts in sports they easily become legends. If Hakeem started playing basketball since childhood I’ve no doubt he’d become a top 3 player of all time but like he said in his Hall of Fame speech he only used to play soccer like every kid in Nigeria until he discovered basketball. Surely one day when the sport grows bigger around the world a few African countries will be among the favorites to win the major titles and the continent will produce huge amount of world class players.

      You would notice there were no guards because guards need to have real skills, and those are learnt by training.
      PF and Centers don't really need to be skilled, just being tall or very athletic, they can be taught later while they can still contribute defensively, a guards who needs to learn how to shoot or pass is USELESS.
