  • Adya invites us to relax our relentless pursuit of becoming and points to the presence of Being that-while unique in its expression-is universal to all of us. Excerpted from September 19, 2007, Palo Alto Meeting, “The Presence of Being”: bit.ly/3laHTLr

That last comment was so profound, if you’ve forgotten the presence of your being, your life in one way or another will be a constant search for it.

When you look closely at this thing called Awareness, it is just a complete miracle. Imagine walking along a country path and passing by a boulder. You swerve around it. You were AWARE of it. The boulder wasn't aware of you but you were AWARE of it! How the hell does that happen???? It's truly miraculous!

It was day 26 of a 30-day Vipassana Meditation course I was sitting with S.N. Goenka in India. The advanced instruction Buddha taught was to go into the Heart Chakra, what he called "The Seat of Consciousness" and then observe sensations within the entire body. As I was observing, all of a sudden I experience that "there is no James". There is no one meditating. And there is no past, no present, no future. Only Consciousness, consciousness which is awake, aware, aware of being consciousness, and energy, energy as a "luminous presence". And a profound "knowing" that everything IS consciousness and energy, energy AS Consciousness. That it is all ONE. That we are a drop of the ocean, but we are also the ocean, we are ONE with everything, and because we are consciousness and energy, we ARE everything, we are ONE, there is NO separation. And, ironically, no one becomes "enlightened", consciousness wakes up, consciousness is no longer asleep, it wakes up to itself as consciousness and energy. This awareness is joyful, detached, beyond time, and exists as it is, as awareness, as an aware presence. It was several years after this experience I went and saw Adya in Los Angeles to ask about this experience because Goenka doesn't really emphasize the experience of enlightenment or awakening as the goal, which is wise. However, I asked Adya if this was an experience of awakening, and he said it was. It was very helpful, however, it doesn't change the laws of nature, we still don't escape suffering, it does not inoculate us against these experiences. In the long-run we come to know the "truth", which is in many ways comforting, but we do not escape the realm of dukka, suffering, however, knowing the truth IS comforting.

Almost all people walk around as is said in Buddhist texts like hungry ghosts.
Oblivious to the fact that they are roaming around in a wilderness believing all the time that they are awake when in fact they are fast asleep

Everything in this life has a purpose, a reason ,
Maybe through your feelings you are shown something precious in life that need to be accepted .
Remember that you are loved by the Creator and find peace in your trust to Him.
      Peace.

YIKES! Whoever is handling Adya’s YT is beyond stingy. All the long talks are vanished from here since the beginning. Only less than 10 minute video excerpts are included and a few meditations. Not one long talk, may be one old one and that’s it. Adya used to offer free programs here and also on his website, there were quite a few full programs that were free to download. ALL GONE! Only bits and pieces, unless you buy $$$$$$ What happened? I can only imagine it is whoever is handling this that has turned Adya into a full business and no service. Sad. No new earth here. It’s business and money.

He has a right to monetise his audience. He still gives out tons of value for free and there are still many videos of his for free on the internet :)

@edite_lh -- Adya's TH-cam presence is "handled" by the staff at Open Gate Sangha (his nonprofit organization). Just for the record, I believe you are mistaken. We have not removed ANY content from his TH-cam channel since its inception (other than if we discovered a duplicate). It has always been populated by excerpts only, except for once a month when Adya gives a free live broadcast on his website. We simultaneously livestream the free broadcasts on his TH-cam channel and leave them available for 48 hours so that folks in other time zones have a chance to watch them. After that, the recordings are sold in Adya’s online store.
Also, if you are not aware, there is a considerable amount of free material (video/audio/writing) available on Adya’s website. And if you are on our mailing list, you know that our newsletters always contain links to free downloads of full-length talks, and we also periodically send free downloads just to show our appreciation.
We also have a robust scholarship program for Adya’s online programs, allowing those that need financial assistance to attend.
We hope you understand that there are costs associated with bringing Adya’s broadcasts to the public (staff, equipment, streaming services, insurance, etc.), and thus we can’t give everything away for free. But I can assure you, there is no stingy-ness or greediness going on over here. Quite the opposite. We strive to do what we can to bring Adya’s teachings to as many people as possible.
If you are interested in seeing more full-length talks, you might consider joining the channel as a member. There are currently over 50 full-length videos available to those who subscribe to Membership Plus, which is $9.99/month. (A good share of that $$ goes to TH-cam, by the way.) You could subscribe for a month and then cancel.
      We would appreciate the support!
