i agree w your thoughts about pouring in the cold weather. i dont care what that engineer says, he has never actually finished nor has the experience that finishers have. not saying he doesnt know what ue is talking about because he makes some valid points, thanks
Enjoyed watch my Dad Build Parks in city of Anaheim,Ca. So I. love watching, but miss working with my Dad ! Wish i could’ve continued working with them and learned more❤ Beautiful work Mike. Wonderful Skill
I agree 💯 rebar or wire is used to limit the Crack width but we've found that saw cutting is more effective in Crack control. Giving it a place to shrink Crack. Rebar or wire not necessary we use it if it's specified otherwise fiber and saw cut.
Hey Mike. I am Mike lol. Elite concrete. Marine city MI I pour all winter kinda like u We rent a heater with hoses that are full of hot antifreeze Leave furnace hoses under well secured blankets. Put hot hoses under blankets asap and leave for a few days. SAFELY POUR ALL WINTER
Hi Mike. Im a homeowner inTroy Michigan. keep up the good work! I watched your video for a concrete pad in the past. now I just like watching your video.
Convere truck looks like works pretty good .here in norther vt none of our suppliers have one.what was cost per yard for that mix design everything thing included. We have our own blankets with adds another trip back to project Keep up the great work and enjoy videos there's always something to learn in concrete
That brand of screed you have the manual says you can bolt a 2x4 to length and go with that if you don`t want to cut your aluminum board, we used to take the older boards and cut them up and put new end caps on and we had every size screed after that. Your screed looks like a Multi-Quip brand screed from hear. You can get videos from Muti-Quip that shows how to screed steep driveway grades the right way ,It`s not hard to do and we have had good success with their method.
Hey Mike, I’ve got my own flatwork company in South Dakota and know all about the cold. My biggest issue comes from extreme freeze thaw cycles cracking concrete I pour in the summer. Mostly on N sides of houses that don’t see sun all winter. Driveways will heave as much as 3”!
Hey mike. Arlo shaddy here in Idaho. Been pouring mud 22 years and I can’t tell you how many slabs I’ve poured in freezing temperatures. I use a hot water, no fly ash and 2% calcium chloride mix design in the winter. It’s a little stiffer slump but it goes off quick.
I hang fiber is this cold stuff on poles in the air off a ladder and my fingers get froze. I have found that mittens warm them up pretty quick, put a couple hand warmers in them and its real quick. I carry them inside my insulated overalls and when I need to, pull em out, warm my hands, then whip the thin gloves on and repeat as necessary If I wasnt 58 and younger it would have been a pleasure to move to Maine a work for folks that have a good work ethic:)
Hey Mike I'm not sure if you remember me I'm the mechanic in Canada. I am just curious if you own the trucks yourself and if so how many do you have? Also I just wanted to thank you again for putting video's like this together. Take care and hopefully I will hear back from you. 👍🇨🇦
Hey Mike, I'm a concreter from Australia. Love your stuff. I'd like to learn how to do the 2 man screed, looks fast. I think our concrete is too stiff down here for that technique though.
I had to pour a 300 yd and a 200 yd slab one winter it was 13 degrees for both pours they said it had to be. at least we had a ground thaw machine layed out on both of them.overnight, It wasn`t fun trying to finish those boogers though.
Hi Mike, Great episode, I was wondering if a vapor barrier under a slab is needed in warm all-year climates? Will it hurt to use one where there is never a frost? Thanks
We would pour when it was so cold you couldnt see each other through the steam coming off the concrete in an enclosed basement !!! Pouring on top of steel decking !!
I really enjoy placing and finishing concrete, the only time it feels like hard work is when the truck just cant get close, and you have to pull it 5 or 10 feet, But sorry, not looking for work,,, the last few years no one is looking for work, they are trying not to get found till they get caught up ! But no, I own a ready mix company, and I am my only salesman, and cold weather, I caution my customers as to what can happen if it freezes, and what precautions to take.i have to wear 2 hats, on one hand I try not to throw money away during the slow season, but on the other I do not want my customers to have a bad result, And that's more important to me I am not that hungry to screw over a customer with bad advice But I understand they have to eat all year long just like the rest of us. But when its cold out like that I try and keep it pretty stiff, 1" or 2" slump, just enough to flow out the shoot. and upsell calcium or poplar set, try and close the gap let them know its a good idea to have at least 24 hours above freezing and not to overwork it The problem in the trades today is no one trained (very few anyhow) to me a mason they ended up being one, and they got trained by someone else and every generation either miss some stuff, or add some wrong information along the way. You guys to nice work, and I hardly see you look like your busting your ass, because if you have skill, you don't have to hardly at all.
We pour concrete all year round and it’s a lot of extra steps when you do that gotta put blankets on and we get heated hoses to keep it warm it sucks but can be done
I don't know this guy but he seems like a nice guy at least through my You-Tube, but if employers in Maine can't find works then they should raise their wages. If I offended anyone I do apologize
We're is. Main. What state. An I love how ur poor an lot of time I am by my self. Would you give me a job I am a heard worker I am willing to learn. An do what I am told

Glad you enjoyed it
We are in mass not quite as cold here. We have poured plenty in cold temps, cover everything with tarps and blankets. Great job.

Why not to start from the other end?
Hi Mike. Im a homeowner inTroy Michigan. keep up the good work! I watched your video for a concrete pad in the past. now I just like watching your video.
Same here in WNY its hard to find drivers , even harder to find people that want to pour .

Hey Mike. I do construction off shore (island building) here in mid coast Maine. Love watching you do this.

Thanks for the info
Hey mike, thanks for all the videos and tips, I recently started my own concrete flatwork company and I watch your videos everyday
That is awesome!
Morning Mike. -26 here in NE MN. No concrete pouring here today. Lol.
We pour in freezing weather and use ground heater a week before prep and pour.
Michigan
I'm from south east Iowa. We usually stop around mid December and then start again in mid March.
This is Tim from Ohio yes I am starting to do this tip of work. I am watching u a lot.
Maybe commercial projects on a time restraint, but for me with limited funds, I can wait for the ideal times to have it poured
In Florida you can see the fibers in the sun . Its like a irredescent glitter when the lighting is right

Good looking pour.
Just did two jobs today negative 18 weather smooth as butter

The good thing about placing concrete when it’s cold.. is that it’s not hot. I’ve done concrete in Montana in the winter, and Tucson in the summer.
We try no to pour in the cold in west Michigan on the residential side .Hard to do it in the cold weather.
My name is Tim from Ohio I am now doing that. Tip. Of work. I look at all of ur. Video. I am learning a lot we have a lot. Of cold. Here.
Men who do concrete are the toughest men on the planet!!! Very hard artist work!
I think concrete is easy if you have all the right equipment like I do.
Excellent team work Mike, another good video there 👍
Anchorage, Alaska. No outside concrete work during winter for me.
I’m from Kentucky and we’ll pour all winter long unless the base is frozen
I had to pour a 300 yd and a 200 yd slab one winter it was 13 degrees for both pours they said it had to be. at least we had a ground thaw machine layed out on both of them.overnight, It wasn`t fun trying to finish those boogers though.
No, that doesn't sound fun to me either.
Great job boys! Of course they are brothers, Brothers in concrete!
excellent work Hi Mike from salt lake city utah
Hello there!
Hahahaha I’ve been watching you for years and years and I always thought Luke and Darren were brothers
Ninja Ice brand gloves I recommend if you play outside in the winter for a living.
That's what my wife calls my job
Hi Mike, Great episode, I was wondering if a vapor barrier under a slab is needed in warm all-year climates? Will it hurt to use one where there is never a frost? Thanks
plastic is used to keep moisture from under ground soaking up thru the slab causing every thing to mold years later.
Mike did you serve apprenticeship. ?
Try the truewerk t3 pants Mike, I think you would like them ..they are spendy.
There’s plastic under the concrete a plus for pouring cold weather?
Looks like Camp Winnebago in Fayette.
Mike, do you have the driver's put calcium in the load in cold weather
We would pour when it was so cold you couldnt see each other through the steam coming off the concrete in an enclosed basement !!! Pouring on top of steel decking !!
It gets cold here in Washington state but you won't catch me pouring in freezing Temps
Up in Canada waching
For a small concrete floor is a number 7 to wet

Have you ever used accelerator’s?
From Albany ,New York . I’m just a fare weather concrete want to be. That for the education
Mike please tell me what is the stick for that makes the noise the beep
I can't believe they have that huge structure up on a couple of sticks.
Best decision I’ve made 4 years ago switched from many layers with sweatshirt to a heated jacket that used the same batteries that all my tools use.
Why do u have placket down
We pour concrete all year round and it’s a lot of extra steps when you do that gotta put blankets on and we get heated hoses to keep it warm it sucks but can be done
Why not pour the floor when the structure is in place, and the envelope can be controlled, that’s what we do, no issues with weather…..
I thought they were brothers haha
I don't know this guy but he seems like a nice guy at least through my You-Tube, but if employers in Maine can't find works then they should raise their wages. If I offended anyone I do apologize
