Hello. For the strap issue I reccomend purchasing a PASGT 3 point retention system. Holds the helmet nicely on your head.

That badge is a rank insignia for the U.S. Army. The rank of a Master Sgt.

This video was very helpful.I got mine for 63 bucks without the chinstrap and cover so I probably over paid for it, but it was almost in mint condition even though it was used.I had a desert camo cover like yours and was wondering why it didn't have any slits like the others.Oh yea and I found out the Navy actually still uses the PASGT helmet and even the vest as US Navy flak jacket for sailors aboard ships.Thats pretty much the only branch that still uses it though.

Note that there are even helmet covers in UCP/ACU pattern for PASGT helmet, and not made by civilian company but manufactured by government contractor! I'd say these are quite rare, good item for collection!

Awesome video mate. Just wondering, where did you purchase this PASGT helmet? I'm trying to locate this helmet and a 1960s Vietnam era M1-C Paratrooper helmet. Finding it very difficult to locate both helmets online. I'd really appreciate it if you could share where you sourced this great piece. Cheers mate.

If your head touches the size of the kevlar helmet and is tight is it too small? I get the feeling I may need to find the ultra rare XL helmet :(

it needs to be snug but not uncomfortably tight.

Ye I just heard somewhere that the kevlar wasn't supposed to be in contact with your head. on the top.

Hey at least you can purchase a British Mk 7 from where you are on the cheap. I've been itching to pick one up but the shipping cost from the UK to Australia is more than the helmet itself.

You are way off base with demonstating large green leaves flat on this helmet. Camoflauge is used to break lines and shape. Select vegetation appearing in the area of operation and place it in a vertical mode in the slots. Select different lengths and colors, and some material can also be placed in the helmet band., again in various orientation and length. The "Cat eyes" were used on our gear in the late 50's and well into today. Enlisted personnel had two reflective bars one left of center and one right of center on the back of the helmet. Officers had one single bar centered on the rim of the helmet. Many officers removed the single bar and used EM markers during the Vietnam War.

Plain Helmet bands, or “foliage bands” were first issued in the mid 1960s and only to the army. Cat eyes didn’t become the standard until 1979, even then they were not in wide use outside of the army. As for the officer and NCO stripes, that practice was gone after ww2.
