You are the first person to explain the details of installing fenders, with all the camera work is greatly appreciated, I will be following your advice moving forward, great looking unit , keep up the great work its not easy. thanks a lot Ive watched a shit load of videos you rock!!
Thank you, that means a lot. I was pretty unsure about it all when I started making the videos but I feel like I'm finally getting the hang of it. I had also looked for install videos of these fenders and you are right. No one really actually showed the install. That's why I was so heartbroken when I lost all that footage. I put a lot of work into explaining it all then it was all gone. I'm glad people are still finding the video useful even with that.
For the price of those they should come with detailed instructions and all new mounting hardware that is clearly labeled. They have to know that most of these jeeps are rusty and will need bolts replaced. Nice product but they def need to step up their game
Thanks for this. I will be ordering a set soon. Going to 35s on 3.25 inches. I was wondering about going to 37s, but I was worried about going through ball joints in my front rubicon axle. I’ve already built up steering, brakes, axle shafts, etc. just waiting on tires and gears. I figured I would take it to the RTI ramp after install before making my final decision.
@@WheelinWithWally no, I am on the east coast. SC. It is a 5000 mile round trip. But it has been a dream of mine since I was in high school. (20 yrs ago). @@zacharyelias4643 that's awesome man! I'm in Ohio so I feel your pain on the drive. I have done it once two years ago. It wasn't long after I got my jeep. Looks good man. What a transformation. I'd leave the black powdercoat alone and just paint the silver metalcloak inserts either black or color matched to your wheels or jeep.
I probably will. Just need to get the rest of the metal cloak armor on it to even out the black better and then I'll probably like it more. Thinking about starting the axle/tcase swap this weekend
@@lundysgarage yeah that's the plan. It took me over a year to get my axles and tcase. I found a guy in my jeep group who was talking about going to tons and I pestered him forever that if decided to do it I wanted his axles. I kept looking the whole time and could never find any. So he finally decided to do the axles and I got his and sweetened the deal until I got the tcase with them. I really wanted the tcase for my manual transmission to make it easier rock crawling

What did you do to the evap system on the driver side? My tj has a huge canister there and cruise control. But mine is a manual… I don’t know why they have cruise stuff? Can I remove all that “stuff”
Don't paint the fenders. Also you mentioned the tires being heavy. I also bought new tires and wheels and thought if I were by myself out there I would have trouble lifting the spare. So I purchased a small block and tackle to keep in my recovery gear.
@@WheelinWithWally I actually have the 2in jks on mine so that's good to know, I was afraid the 35s would look too small. How do you like the metalcloak spring compared to the jks?
Possibly. It's not much worse than a factory fender I don't think. But I also have a louvered hood and used the vented side panels on the fenders instead of the solid ones. It wasn't much of a concern to me. My engine bay definitely isn't spotless but I don't really think it looks any dirtier than it would get before I swapped the fenders.
The tires are 35" mickey Thompson baja boss m/t tires. I absolutely love these tires they are excellent. I'm trying to remember back to this video and I think I had 3.5" metalcloak springs on in the video. I have since swapped the rear springs to 4.5" springs. My heavy bumper and gear I'd load in the back was really squatting the jeep. So now I have 3.5" springs in the front and 4.5" in the rear. Both metalcloaks. In most of my video descriptions I have my whole jeep build listed. So if you check out my most recent video it has the current info on my build. I didn't put it in these videos because I was changing out so much stuff my build list was always changing. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the answers, metalcloak is local to me. Was planning to run there springs, debating on 3.5 or 4.5. I hear the ride is really good, what's your opinion on the ride quality? Thanks, Brent
@@brentohara9471 oh thats cool they are local to you! Stop by and tell them to sponsor a video of mine with one of their bumpers lol. I think the springs are pretty good. I don't have any plans to change them out so I guess that speaks for its self. I have the big M/T tires on though and it's a TJ so it's hard to say anything is that smooth on it. But all in all it's not bad. I've driven it from Ohio to Utah and back multiple times now.
Inwas pricing these out, I like the fact your.not.cutting the stock fenders to mount but damn these are pricy. I'm about 2k. I guess I just gotta pull the trigger.

@Wheelin' with Wally I agree, im looking for a slightly cheaper alternative but not finding much. It's either those or fishbone/paramount and I'm not sure if the quality will be near the same.
@@seanbaird8953 they are 15" fuel covert rims in bronze. But good luck finding some. After I bought the set of four they went out of stock. I've waited months to try to get the spare but they are still out of stock.
