MoAn Inc. strikes again with yet another fascinating guest and stimulating discussion! I absolutely love your videos and this one's no exception. The format is excellent, you ask great questions, and your manner puts your guests at ease to dive into their subject area and share their passion! I'm incredibly grateful for the scholarly content available to us all online now thanks to creators like you; please keep up the amazing work!
She really must have a magnificent agent or something; gets all the good guests!
I don’t have an agent or a publicist - I personally reach out to every single guest I feature :)
@MoAnInc So, in other words,YOU are your magnificent agent 😃 You're such an interesting conversationalist and you choose such interesting guests, that's what I meant to say sorry. I really couldn't agree with the original poster more! Sometimes though my English isn't the best
Your content and ability to get amazon academics, authors is unreal. I have loved your channel for so long but I love book recommendations
Thank you so much 🥹
Podany is certainly an Amazon!
I’ve been loving your channel, and now you had my professor on! I’ve also been thinking of messaging you about trying to interview her! She is excellent, her class was excellent and her book was as well. Im so grateful for what you do on this channel with your expertise and great interviewing skills.
Oh thank you so much!!! 🥹❤️
Love this topic!!! Great upload!!
Thank you! 🙏
@@MoAnInc Thank _you_ for your work!😬
I buy so many of Oxford's VSI books and I think I've read about 30 of them, but my favorite by far was the one on "Ancient Near East" written by Amanda Podany. I loved it so much, I bought the audiobook as well and I've listened to it like 3 times since (The narrator, Fajer Al-Kaisi, also is brilliant and adds to the book). Apart from being just about Ancient Near East, it was also about archaeology and its history as well and all of that inside that tiny book. I wonder how she could be so concise. Many VSI writers fail unfortunately. The book made me want to read a more in-depth book about the subject and lo and behold Mrs. Podany had written a book recently on the subject. It shattered all expectations; one of my favorite books ever. I was so happy when I saw you had interviewed her. Brilliant scholar.
It is very difficult for me to help someone understand what spirits and Gods meant to people back then. "It's a way for kings to control the masses". They believed this too, it's not just a tool.
Thank you, that just sold your book to me. You are a good woman, worthy of praise
Your output of work is phenomenal. I'm finishing a PhD on the medieval history of the Levant and surrounding regions. I want to improve public historical literacy too and run a modest podcast, but I value writing over audio-visual productions. Do you see yourself moving into publishing too?
I loved this interview and last weekend I found the book in a bookstore! Thank you.
Thank you so much :)
Terrific interview! Thank you.

Excellent interview. Good to hear about her journey to becoming an archeologist/historian.
Thanks for tuning in!
@@MoAnInc My pleasure. I enjoy your videos as they cover wide range of classical and ancient history. Have good one.
Keep up the great work, Erica 👏 🎉
Dr Podany is a very kind, insightful, and fantastic scholar- I loved speaking with her as well.
She’s magnificent!!! ✨🫶🏼

You’re welcome 🫶🏼
@@MoAnInc I was really looking forward for this one. I think I even DM you on your Instagram about this book a couple of months ago ☺️🙏🏽. I really wanted you to interview Dr. Podany 🙏🏽☺️
Salute from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
Truly enjoyable. Thank you for such an amazing content!
Thank you! ✨✨✨
Kudos Erica. Well edited and presented.
Thank you so much :)
I have this book waiting for me in my book case - good incentive to actually start reading it :D
😍😍😍
Having just come across Rudolf Steiner's insights into Sumer explaining the state of consciousness thus the every day perspective of the time through the Epic of Gilgamesh, The Tower of Babal, so forth, this is an interesting other way of looking at that place and time.
love your content Erica!
Thank you!

Thank you so much for this fabulous interview. Her other book is as beautiful and if there chance to discuses it would be another glamours episode. There is a new novel released by Elif Shafak about Mesopotamia which got big praise. Mary beard made an interview with her just recently to talk about it in the British museum. it will be super cool to see her in your channel talking about it, since she is from that region and she is kind. do you have a podcast where these episode are released? I would love to follow it.
For all those like me who had to google it "(like me) the spelling is: Complaint tablet to Ea-nāṣir
Is that the biography on The Bangles being done by Dr. Jennifer Otter Bickerdike?
Love languages including these. A philologist not a sociologist.
I have a question. How did a traveler pay for their stay at an inn? Or pay for a beer/food? There was no cash?
Nice interview, I would guess this is the real treasures in the world. Not a chest full of gold. Yet again, thanks for a great video.
Thank you for watching!
i would be glad to follow the link in the description. but my english is still quite poor to read such books. i 've honestly tried to but never managed to finish.
There are some great translation apps online!
You actually had your hair styled for the guest...nice.🎸
… I normally style my hair?
First of all, great show. Your hair just looked very lovely in this video. My favorite channel, now...right there with Rick Beato. Ciao!
I'd love to learn ancient languages, but I don't even know any modern languages other than English. I really struggle with the silly grammar.
Near East to me is Europe.
I love that this channel is history as a thirst trap and it's called 'moan'.
Timestamp topics or risk boring a lot of experienced listeners with intros.
Love how there was zero politeness in this 😂
