In think he was best friends with Susanna's brother growing up. He also knew Kendra Smith, who was the singer of Opal, the earlier, and in my opinion, better incarnation of Mazzy Star.

I love Hoffsie, and her version of "Catch the Wind" is equal to Donovan's wonderful 2nd take on it. But, this is not as good as Nico and the VU.
