I'm not a fan of Datuk Dr Ameer Ali but I admire this man because he is practical and speaks the truth. Generally the people are still struggling. Expenditure is more than income.

Houses are getting smaller, fridges and food storage are limited, all must be on a needed basis and no more keeping inventory for a month which our parents did before. Sooner or later convenience stores will be more practical. Buy on a need basis and consume all every single day.

Great interview! Throughly enjoyed listening right through to the end. The only points I have to comment on are that : a) I and 90% of my friends above 40 HATE the self check out counters. We seriously would rather drive another 20 min to another grocery outlet which may not be that cheap, and happily pay for a manned counter check out. b) What is the Govt doing about the cartels? Where's the whip? c) OEMs are the way to go. d) the grocery hypermarket convenient stores is endless opportunities. Staff in every industry is facing shortages. But robots and AI are just around the corner.

As someone that is introvert and under 40, I love the self checkout counter. I always go to the self checkout counter if there is the option. I wish more supermarket install more of this self checkout counter 😀
May I know why you dislike self check out counters?
@@agirlhasnonameeeeee I think I just do not want the responsibility of ensuring that every item (especially if I have a full trolley of stuff) has had the bar code properly scanned.
Kudos to the interviewer/presenter. Well researched questions, understands business n economy as well as very knowledgeable and smart. The camera work, lighting, audio, setting all good. Accept maybe u need to adjust the interviewer's looking room a bit. The topic is relevant and the dynamic of the interview is also excellent. Good job. I wonder if the local business media did pick up some of the newsworthy issues in this interview.

businessman is to make profit. Of course, they pass the cost to consumer. Otherwise, who wants to be businessman.
It's a complete circle because in the late 90's-early 2000's the hypermarket were disrupting the mom & pop's store even the mamak mart also affected with these chain of business....
Now it's repeating the same pattern only the difference is tha way you said that, Datuk Wira!
We never had problems with chicken and eggs supply in Setia Alam despite calls of insufficiency... I believe it's a situation depending on location.

Premium eggs have a lot. As long as has eggs. People will not complain much
Hypermarket and supermarket should go digital and online to reach more coverage areas. The payment system need to be upgraded so no need to queue long hours.

I think the market will be crazy, mess and panic if the government announced that we are short of egg and chicken supply…
Why not supermarkets have their own chicken farm, you also creat jobs and the price can be controlled.

Foreign supermarkets owners are hampered by discrimination by the gomen. Cannot open small shops, must have 30% local shareholding etc. That is why many left. Carrefour, giant all i feel left because of excessive demand of local shareholders who orobably got free shares but asked too much.
They left after the free tax agreement was over
One of the rare things I envy of Klang Valley.

Frankly speaking government have to control the price for foods in restaurants, Kopitiam, mamak, everything about foods. I notice that now the most making money is these all restaurants seller who selling foods. Even the price inflation but these all food seller purchase their resources in bundle. They are not gonna make any loss profit. Now the kopitiam price has increased from RM5-6 before covid Rm 8-10. This is totally unacceptable and ppl are dying cos of these restaurants seller increase their price so high 50% increase. The wages in Msia still very low and isn’t comparable at all. So governments please get control the price for the foods!
I used to buy at Mydin.
I noticr n compares selling certain items expensive that others.
Milo 1kg was RM20.80.
Other side put promotion Rm18.80.
When i pay RM20.80.
I ask why prices, different, you have mydin card you get promotions.
But other markets they have no problem you a member or not prices is same n items are cheaper.

What and who is Mydin Mall? It's business is based on Islamic principles. That's what Mydin says. I had two bad experiences with Mydin as a Hindu. When I went to buy chicken, beef was sold beside and the same tongs were used for both, as I saw the worker doing it. When I asked the supervisor about it, he arrogantly told me to shop elsewhere. My second bad experience was when I wanted to rent a booth for my products for a week ( this was when they newly opened ), which I applied online. No response for more than a week. I called the management, they arrogantly said they only rent for a minimum of one month. Today they have call centres calling to offer their booths for rent. Even 1 week is available. I told them off. Not interested. I stopped shopping there.
Mydin is doing badly. Go look at their carparks. More than 60% is empty.
I wonder if he is a a billionaire yet since his company is not public listed.

Camana ada pula panggillan Dr pada nama dia ini...dari mana University dan bidang apa...cukup menggilakan dinegeri jika seorang pemilik shopping mall atau supermarket ada ijazah doctorate yg biasa memerlukan buat pengajian yg sekurangnya 4 tahun dan kemudian meyndiakan kajian atau research yg tertentu dan dikuti dgn perbincangan dgn tujuan mempertahankan segala rumusan dan conclusions yg dibuat dihadapan eminent scholars yg di pilih.
