Christine, I have watched hundreds of video reactions but this one moved me the most, displaying your passion, authenticity, and professionalism. I wanted to see your tears even though you could not see mine. Though I would be at least 10,000 kilometres away from you, you touched my inner self and imparted to me something precious but unexplainable. Thank you for this.
@@christineokosun Your reaction touched me deeply. Like mostly all of us, we had tears streaming down our faces. Our spirit connected with God. The way you connected to this song was awesome. You were worshiping God also. This song pulled you right in as it did me and many others.
Thank GOD he recorded some gospel albums that carry serious presence of the KING OF KINGS!!! Though I'll definetly be crying but I'll have at the end of the day, a means to transport myself to GOD'S presence like Elvis did with his band members through singing gospel songs hours after a show and in this case, gave a circular, large audience, a glimpse of what heaven is about.
I was born in 1968. Elvis came back to the TV with his comeback special. I grew up listening to Elvis and all the greats of that time with my parents! I even did what they call the hound dog dance lol. No matter what music I like now which is primarily blues but I like all genres of music! In fact my favorite group on a whole is motley Crue! My favorite blues players are Stevie Ray Vaughan Joe Bonamassa, Buddy Guy, BB King and so on and so on I think the blues are the greatest things ever. But when I hear Elvis saying I have to concede! Truly just the greatest!
Yes! He truly was in a supreme class all by himself. Out of all the blues artist you mentioned, I've only heard the name BB King. Thanks for mentioning others! That's why I love this comment section. Fastor education and enlightenment 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I'm 65 years old and have probably heard this around 100 times and never heard it with dry eyes. Each time I heard Elvis sing How Great Thou Art, I can tell he was singing straight to God and at the time, nothing else mattered.
All of us cry too. Every time. He was so wonderful for a reason. Such talent. So bittersweet to hear his voice. I feel blessed to have been in a time to see him in Vegas when we were all young and beautiful. Back up singers so great. The Stamps Quartet, The Sweet Inspirations and Kathy Westmoreland the gal with the high voice.
That was a great reaction. Elvis was nominated 14 times for the Grammy awards and won three times for his gospel music. In 1967 he won best sacred performance for How Great Thou Art. In 1972 he won best inspirational performance for He Touched me and in 1974 again for How Great Thou Art recorded live in Memphis
Wow I'm in Alabama in the southern USA and couldn't hold back the tears had to let my 87 year old mother see your reactions...God's anointing was in this song...God Bless
I felt that as well. I uploaded his performance of the American Trilogy yesterday but unfortunately it was BLOCKED. That was not just a performance. It was a Ministration to me! Oh how I wish it wasn't blocked! I so would want to share every emotion and journey the American Trilogy took me through!
It’s ok to cry. I cry with a lot of his Gospel music. It’s so pure and one can tell it’s his favorite. He received 3 Grammys for his Gospel music. Can you imagine? With all he was famous for and all the top hits, he was proudest of his Gospel music for he truly loved the Lord and always spoke with those who were religious what his feelings were along with asking those questions he searched for about God. You were wonderful reacting to this. I thank you for your emotions. It’s pure and nothing wrong with it.
Christina there are a lot of people reacting on TH-cam. I just want to say it is complete joy watching you react. You are a fresh of breath air to watch. I’m a huge Elvis fan and I love you knowledge and passion you react with. I just want to say thank you
@Max Lannon , no he doesn't, Tim Storms has hit a G-7. That is a G 7 octaves below the lowest G on a piano, only animals can hear it. It is below human hearing. It takes 5 seconds for his vocal chords to vibrate for that note. Verified by Guinness. Tim also holds the record for greatest range of a man at 10 octaves.
@Max Lannon , you stated that JD Sumner still held the record. I was just correcting your mistake. I loved JD Sumner and the Stamps. Elvis was amazed by JD. No disrespect intended towards you. Peace.
Christine, I love Elvis, and grew up on his music. I am 71 years old now, but I am still moved by his music, especially his Gospel music. I would like to say however, I saw the devotion in your face at the wonderful singing of this song, and I believed I was more moved by hearing your heart in your face. God bless you my African sister, I am moved.
My dearest Christine, your reactions to Elvis are so special and heartwarming. Thank you! Sending peace and love from Brook Park Minnesota...... Long live Elvis
JD Sumner the bass a legend. Cathy Westmoreland highest pitch. So loved your appreciation of these elements. Cathy was a babysitter of my sister'school friend and even back then we thought WoW. I love this version thank you for sharing. God Bless. ❤ I was 10, and present that night. I will never forget the experience. We had to just sit and absorb what we witnessed when the concert was over. Powerful.
Elvis' true love was gospel. As a teen he was a member of the East Trigg Avenue Baptist Choir led by the great gospel composer and Civil Rights gadfly W. Herbert Brewster. (Brewster said "Elvis' voice was the voice of Calvary. He had that kind of bent and inclination and ATTITUDE that suggested that God could use him.") Elvis saw his rock songs as "bubblegum," much as he loved rock and roll. He warmed up for those performances (even on the set of Jailhouse Rock) by singing gospel. He unwound from his concerts the same way, late at night in his suite with his backup singers and celebrities and ordinary people who joined him. As his backup Cissy Houston said, "You can't get away from your roots. Everything Elvis did had that gospel flavor."
I totally agree with your statement "you can't get away from your roots". 4500 That's why the Bible says train up your child in the way that he may grow.
Loved the reaction....another song to hear JD Sumner sing bass is Why Me Lord...Elvis as a 14 year old would watch JD Sumner and his quartet at gospel meets. JD tells the story of not seeing Elvis there one week and asked why he hadn't been at the show and Elvis said he didn't have the money for the admission and J D told him not to worry about money again he would let him in free next time 😍 when Elvis started touring in early 70s he wanted JD and his Stamps Quartet to sing backing...they weren't sure as they were obviously gospel but Elvis convinced them. Elvis was so proud to have the deepest bass sing with him...JD was like a second father figure to him...JD sang at Elvis funeral 😪
Beautiful reaction! Elvis has the gift to make you "feel"... even if you mother language is not English... no matter where you are from... or your age... Greetings form Chile!
Your review might be the best I've ever seen. You are informed, educated, sensitive, aware, and are a close & careful listener. Fine, fine job. And your graphics are well-place and helpful. Thank you.
My absolutely favorite moment from this video is how just for a moment Elvis turns back into that small boy standing in the tent church as The Jordanaires Baritone Hoyt Hawkins hits that powerful low note.. There is a light in Elvis''s eyes his face just changes instantly to an expression of pure excitement & joy.. It's only there for an instant... but it shows the love & respect & how much he honored these men & their group.
Elvis took us to church, AMEN! He may have been the King of Rock and Roll but the man loved singing gospel and won his only Grammy Awards in that category! Thank you for your beautiful, genuine, heart-felt reaction! Peace be with you!
Elvis loved his back up singers. The Sweet Inspirations. 💞🙏 You're a beautiful lady. I felt God while watching you. The back up singers sound heavenly!! ❤
Hi Christine 👋 hope you are doing well 😊. Just watching you and Elvis again. I just lost my precious 😢 baby sister. My heart is broken Looked this up. Makes me feel better 😌.
Thank you! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽. I wasn't born when he was making waves but I love him. I learned a lot from his music and life especially through the resources that his old fans blessed me with.
Gospel was Elvis's passion, As a child he was accepted by & into the Black Church near his home grew up in the church & even sang in the church choir. It was routine after a concert he & his inner circle would go up to his room hit the piano & sing gospel for hours. The only grammy awards he won were for his gospel work. He worked with so many singers The Sweet Inspiration are there as well with him & Whitney Houston's mother was a member of that group. His backing singers on this are The Jordanaires.. They were his favorite travelling gospel group growing up.. Once as a kid because he was so poor he tried to sneak into the tent but was caught by one of the singers. He looked at Elvis & in an act of kindness let him stay. He never forgot that & when he hit it big he called them and asked if they would be his backup singers.
44 years! That shows aside from the obvious GOD factor in and upon him, there's something/somethings he did right to still impact on people who weren't even born(like me) when he was impacting the world.
Elvis was warned not to do this song in Vegas, that the audience would not be ready for this type of music. He did it anyway, and received a five minute standing ovation. This song, and «Why Me, Lord» , was included in hundreds of concerts. Elvis LOVED gospel music, and released three albums with gospel music during his lifetime. Incredibly enough, he received only three Grammys, all for his gospel music. Elvis, missed by millions to this day. The background vocals was done by J.D. Sumner and the Stamps quartet, Elvis’ favourite gospel group.
Thank you for you reaction to one of God's children that used his gifts and talents to help change the world during his time. He was raised with God, and unlike some of his peers, he never forgot his roots, and that God was his everything. He was afraid to include God in his performance. As for me, I am a front line health care worker. For the past 18 months have not been able to attend church service due to the pandemic. Just like Elvis who stopped a concert to worship God, I too, have stopped during my duties to worship God in spirit and in truth. I thank God for the gift he gave the world. Even though he was only here for 42 years, Elvis planted seeds that continues to bare fruit to this day. God bless you 🙏
One of my favorite hymns growing up, in fact I played it on my acoustic guitar on a windswept prairie in the middle of nowhere Kansas when my grandmother died and was buried there because it was one of her favorite hymns, along with Leaning on the Everlasting Arms. It will always mean so much to me but I remember completely loving it as a little kid in church. He just knocks the shit out of this. And so does the band and the backing choirs definitely.
Piękne wykonanie muzyka Gospel cudowna Elvis pięknie śpiewał dla Jezusa widać,że to kochal niech Ci Bóg wynagrodzi ten śpiew Elvisie spoczywaj w pokoju wiecznym Amen
I have been listening to Elvis for 60 decades now and I still get teary-eyed and sometimes cry when I hear this performance but even a stronger performance to me the best performance of this song from him what's the last time he sang it live in his last concert even though his body had given way 2 illness and abuse of prescribed medication his gift never gave way he sang the song very strong very passionate. Whitney Houston's mother Cissy Houston was one of his backup singers in the Sweet Inspirations the name of their group
Elvis bass singers name was J.D. Sumner, one of the most astounding bass singers ever and he was listed in the Guiness book of world records as the worlds lowest bass singer. He was able to hit the double low C, only a handful of singer can do this.
Thank you for that beautiful reaction. I remember Billy Graham was on a talk show with Larry King, and Larry King said to Billy Graham, you knew Elvis Presley, do you think he's in heaven? Billy Graham said to him, I know he is singing to the angels. It is true Christine he never forgot God never ashamed of the Lord, he loved God and he loved people and he never forgot the poverty where he came from or those that were still there. God bless you..
I really enjoy your in depth reactions to Elvis! I would have loved to see your first reaction that would have been awesome! We don’t mind if there are tears!
I seen some emotional reactions but this one surpassed all of them! We can feel GOD when he sings gospel. Im happy that now you know Elvis, because everyone deserves this Gift, he was a gift from GOD to all of us. You have been missing out, but now you know him. Please dont stop reacting to Elvis.
Loved your reaction to Elvis. I was fortunate to see him live in 1974. I was young but when I saw him & heard his voice, I knew “this is great”. His live concert “Aloha from Hawaii” is fantastic. It was beamed via satellite (in 1973) all over the world from Hawaii. 1.5 BILLION people watched from around the world. I miss him & he has been gone longer than he was alive. Died at age 42 & he has been gone 43 years
Thanks a lot!!! WOW!!! You are among the blessed to have heard him live!!! I just heard Tom Jones and I was delighted!!! If he had lived longer, Elvis would definitely had a darker timbre and perhaps he would have done a duet with Tom Jones.
Elvis said he felt he should honor God in every concert with a song. He did love God. Elvis had his faults but he had so much more good traits. Thank you for listening to this song. It is so powerful. R.I.P Elvis 👑💕
He who is without fault should he e the first to cast a stone. That's what I tell people who did not bother to really research on his life but rather choose to carry the false torch of proclaiming that he was a racist. The simple question I ask is why does he have black back up singers??? Crazy!!!!
Thank you so much Kathy Harze!!! Hope you good? Please be safe 💞💞💞

Your reaction is beautiful, it's exactly what Elvis would have wanted he was very religious.
Thanks a lot 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
You're in for a treat with his gospel music!
His gift was one of a kind!!!! A couple of people have also mentioned that I should listen to the the version he did before he passed.
Really beautiful reaction. Very touching! You must find the time to do Elvis's tribute to MLK, "If I can Dream".
Having goosebumps!!! He is really a good performer together with his orchestra!!!
Very true!
Elvis bass singers name was J.D. Sumner, one of the most astounding bass singers ever and he was listed in the Guiness book of world records as the worlds lowest bass singer. He was able to hit the double low C, only a handful of singer can do this.
And that wasn't his lowest he could go, he could hit 4-7 notes lower then the AO on the piano,👍✌️
Well said!!! 👋🏽👋🏽👋🏽👋🏽👋🏽
No one could sing Gospel like Elvis did ❤️❤️
He sings with sincerity
Praise the Lord for sharing Elvis with this world.
I think we are kindred spirits when it comes to Elvis' vocals, but I'm not a trained expert....I just know perfection, when I hear it.
So much Raw Talent and a good human being. Enjoyed the reaction , thank you
Many thanks🙏🙏🙏💕
I really enjoy your in depth reactions to Elvis! I would have loved to see your first reaction that would have been awesome! We don’t mind if there are tears!
Thank you!!! I was a complete mess and would forget myself cos watching him made me burst in worship and I wouldn't want to stop!!!
I was lucky to have met a few of his back up singers.. wonderful people. Beautiful reaction
WOOOO!!! I ENVY YOU!!!!! i wonder how many of them are still alive?
Look at Elvis eyes when he says I see the stars. I believe he saw something!!
Hi Christine hope you are doing well from North Carolina ❤
I seen some emotional reactions but this one surpassed all of them! We can feel GOD when he sings gospel. Im happy that now you know Elvis, because everyone deserves this Gift, he was a gift from GOD to all of us. You have been missing out, but now you know him. Please dont stop reacting to Elvis.
It is awesome to see someone actually feel how powerful a Gospel singer Elvis was. He had so much passion in his performance.
Elvis was a very loving and generous man. He loved God, His Momma and Gospel music!🙏😊💯🇺🇸💕
Yes, ma'am! He was the best! His only Grammys were for his gospel recordings. Brings me to my knees every time.
He loved the Lord and knew that's where his talent came from. His Gospel Cd's are the Bomb.
It's very evident that he did. Those gospel Cds will forever be evergreen to those that search for pure worship
Just beautiful
Elvis said he felt he should honor God in every concert with a song. He did love God. Elvis had his faults but he had so much more good traits. Thank you for listening to this song. It is so powerful. R.I.P Elvis 👑💕
He who is without fault should he e the first to cast a stone. That's what I tell people who did not bother to really research on his life but rather choose to carry the false torch of proclaiming that he was a racist. The simple question I ask is why does he have black back up singers??? Crazy!!!!
God was Elvis number one consideration. He was very spiritual.
Look in the aloha from Hawaii: what now my love in the official show, you very like
Thanks a lot!!! @Rogerio 💕💕🙏
Elvis believed in God since a child i love him.
