Yes, I do think she's developing - she out-played Heiji for example. However, I like the fact that she's not the best ever at everything and makes painful mistakes..... ep 5 demonstrates this in her naivety ending up with a stabbing for her trouble. Very different to her silence and sitting quietly in Ep 1.
Awesome breakdown! I also love Taigen and thought his redemption arc was done so well! Did you notice how Mizu picked Taigen's scarf to wear? That's also some foreshadowing the feelings are brewing deep down. Mizu only keeps mementos from people she has loved at some point. Taigen was funny in this episode.
I'm a bit surprised you made no explicit mention of the TH-cam Version (it is indeed distinct) of this episode. I urge anyone who has seen the series but not that episode to watch it at their leisure, th-cam.com/video/Za2Z_JRxCuk/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUQYmx1ZSBleWUgc2FtdXJhaQ%3D%3D
I'm really starting to have trouble declaring a favourite episode of this show. BES has only 2 weak points in my opinion: 1. Fowler is a bad villain, he is just evil; no real motivation. Compare him to Silco, after you've watched Arcane. And 2., but this is a minor one: Mizu should be buff. After 10 years of daily hammering, smithing and training, there's no way she would be thin like this...
Not having watched your review of this episode yet, nor read the comments here, I predict this will be your favorite episode to date. It is after all a dungeon run/raid...
Will Mizu ever learn subtlety and tactical deception?

@@Geeklectica But she has infected both Ringo and Kaigen with the frontal assault default.

Another great deep dive. Although I'm not a gamer, I really enjoyed this episode for being more 'actiony'.
ugh I love Taigen too!
There’s just something about his redemption arc that sticks with me. Plus his great lines.

Ha ha ha - it certainly is!
What happened to the Stranger Things sidebar comparison?
I don't think I imagined that...
