Imagine coming from a small nation and you have a guy like this playing for your national team and being successful with that national team. Because that's what we had, a world class player who always put country before club. That's what he instilled into our national team where every player thinks like that these days. For a guy that did what he did for my country, he deserves to retire doing whatever the hell he likes. Plus, he is a really humble guy and always takes the P out of himself. You don't get that many world class sportspeople that stay true to their roots, but he always does. This is why he is a hero in Wales. He has put his country at the forefront all throughout his career.
Wales should knight him or whatever the Welsh equivalent is

The difference between a +2 golfer and a pga tour pro is not as big as people make it out to be. It’s just the margins are very very fine at the highest level.
Don't agree. I'd say the difference in potential isn't big but the tour pro will come out on top consistently, not every time but more often than not. If you're +2 and you trained like a tour pro, you could get there.
The difference would be bigger at the toughest courses the tour pros play on. Especially at some of the majors in tournament conditions when greens are lightening quick and the rough thick and unforgiving.
The difference for those fine margins is thousands of hours of practice
John Rahm said an average pga tour pro on a normal course would be +10. So the difference is massive. Also on a PGA course like Augusta a +2 would probably do well to break 90. So to be fair its quite a gap.
The average for pga pros is +5.4 based on course slope rating, but that doesn't account for extra tough tournament setup, playing every competition as stroke, etc. The top amateurs are +6, +7 even +8. +2 wouldn't make it into a provincial or county team in GB or Ireland.

Yeah it’s amazing what you can get good at if your so rich you don’t need to work and just do the sport you want all day every day. Not knocking him he’s obviously very talented but I’d love to be in his position to see how good I could get

Hes a good golfer, in general terms, but his game is light years from the mini tours let alone European. Theres golfer better than him at nearly every club, in some cases juniors too. Its celebrity pandering.
Exactly. The difference between scratch level and tour level is like two different sports. Anyone of decent athleticism can get to scratch with a bit of practice and understanding of the golf swing. But practically none of them will get to any kind of tour level.
He’s a scratch golfer. Way worse than most YT golfers and they’re not even close to pro level.
