The organizers did a great job with the stage lightning and background. It's sad that most stages these days are very distracting with all kinds of colors and flashy video screens. As for Kai, this was one of his best showings. Just look at those quads @0:46, simply amazing...

0:32 might give you the best answer. No way Phil's narrow frame is beating Kai in this pose. Phil had better forearms, rounder arms (but Kai's are bigger top to bottom) better traps, better triceps, and at that time a smaller waist. But Kai was way wider and bigger, and in this show he's in good shape. Pause the video at 1:01, and nobody - not even Ronnie Coleman or Dorian Yates had lower lat thickness like that!! Kai had weaknesses. Triceps, traps, forearms, but between 2009 and 2012 - before his gut blew out - he was very good. Phil got bigger later on, and overcame the size difference and was always better conditioned, but initially Kai had the edge.

Or 2:05+ you see all stripes on the quads, holy cow what a beast. xD But no good midsection, to big side abs, i think thats the main problem.

Kai won only because muscular development was his sponsor. Phil was robbed, Kai always looked soft for that reason never deserved the Olympia. .
