Fantastic review! And just to throw it out there, I honestly wish more people did what you have done here and just put the sound demo up without the talking and backing tracks all the way through. Any literate person can read reviews elsewhere online, people come here to see and hear the instrument properly. So a huge thanks to you! :)
I have one of these also in black. The size is very similar to a Strat, which is what I was after. It sounds great and the finish is excellent, but mine did come with some issues. All the frets were long and sharp, as if the final operation had been skipped. I had to pick up a fret finishing kit to make it playable, but it's great now. Also the pickup switch on mine is faulty, so sometimes it doesn't make the connection when switched, and doing so will often create static. I'm just a beginner guitarist and will never perform on stage, so it's not a huge problem for me; otherwise I'd have it taken care of. I got mine new at a big discount off the list price (-33%), so I thought it was still a good purchase. However, if I paid full list I would have returned it!
same here - in middle position (pickup switch) - when "both on" output level is equal to lowest value between the two volume potentiometers. Just emailed Hagstrom, we'll see what they? say/do. (Living on West Coast - bought from East Canada)
@Purple Haze yeah, affirmative: maybe the soldier person during manufacturing -- we both had same? and didn't do the wiring properly, or ??? defective pot? idk. I'm a Total noobie with luthier'manship... But, I learn from Phil on TH-cam ("know your gear") and many others. so.... I plan to go for ~fix/repair, sharpen my AX at some point... even with the Extra challenge of "F hole" access only. I will post here with any updates, and I hope you post as well. Good Luck! PS Also I feel the strap location ~ at the 'heel' is totally Non-functional .... so I rigged it like an acoustic (by passing heel attachment point with a neck connection {"D'Addario Acoustic Guitar Quick-Release System"}) above the nut & under the strings. Too new at this point to in such a beautiful (semi-hollow) instrument.
Got this in white. Was really disappointed because it played awesome with a sweet neck that played fast. But my guitar came with a slight chip in the head stock and the paint finish was awful...I got the white, Swedish Frost, and the paint job was uneven to the point where it didn't even look white...it looked off white almost like a almond color. Plus the paint around the F holes were sloppy and unfinished. Looked terrible. And the fret ends were as sharp as knives???? WTF? I never seen anything like that? And the tuner for the A string was weird and wouldn't tune properly...overall the tuners felt really cheap. Ended up returning it. Just wasn't worth keeping. Very disappointed. If you're interested in getting a smaller size semi hollow like this, get the D'angelico Mini DC. Better quality overall for the same money
I had a DC and returned it for this. I find the Alvar to have a better fit, finish, and quality. No tuning issues and a beautiful sound. You probably got a lemon.

Can you tell me how much it weighs in? Thanks!
@@timohol9770 It weighed in at 7 lbs.

@@shawns9410 my middle position will only put out sound if BOTH volume knobs are on. If one is shut off then I get no sound. Is yours like that too?

Great video
Fretboard radius? Could u tell me? Thanks in advance
15" and a thinner neck.
Is it made in China? Or in Sweden? The fretboard is good or is hard to play? Sorry for the questions 🙏. Cheers
China I think

Do you work for D'angelico?
