  • Some of Englewood's CodeNext proposals are causing a stir across the city. CodeNext is a plan to take another look at what should and should not be allowed in certain zoning areas.

Plus one to everyone saying we need more multi family homes and walkable areas with public transport connecting them. It would be so amazing!! I go to Engelwood most weekends and there’s lots of pockets of bikeable/walkable areas but not a lot connecting them.

I go there too, I usually survey the community during work hours and I find it pretty empty but wish it could offer more than the quiet homes but reasonable places to hangout and to find places within home distance to buy and eat with pedestrian levels.

As an Englewood resident and homeowner I fully support the rezoning.

Oh no, you bought a $40k house 38 years ago and now it's worth $750k :( I feel so bad for you old people. Multiple families might be moving in to a denser housing unit next to you? I'm literally shaking with sadness.

It's amazing how literally every argument against upzoning here is just anti-change as a concept

I moved out of this area 35 years ago. Could not afford it. Now I own two homes in Englewood. One on each side of the Platte river. I support this. Many of the houses on the east side were built in the early 20th century and are severely out of date and need replacement. We don't need McMansions. We need smaller more affordable housing to bring in new young home owners.

We need MORE multi family by ANY means necessary.

I can see the stir between zoning laws in US and let me tell you that it's pretty broken, without fixing zoning laws people like Englewood would protest for new zones for people.
If we could just take a page from European zoning laws or fix our current infrastructure/zones then maybe there won't be needing any change in Englewood.

Second note: We need to focus on developing homes like European homes even if they're apartments they offer walkable and community friendly places, yes you can have your single homes but would you really be close enough to people you know if they live far due to less incomes while they waste time and cash on getting to your friends and families.

The only constant in life is change.
The fact that this neighborhood hasn't changed much in decades is evidence that it is time for change.
We get to choose what that change looks like if we participate in it.
But change is inevitable, we must grow and evolve. Or we stagnate, fester, and rot.
Do you want your community to have the energy and flow of a river?
Or do you want your community to become a swamp of stagnant energy?

People pay .5 million for a yard that’s ridiculously small. Crazy

Aside from on race. Realistically we are going to have to start building up due to a lack of housing and we need to be mindful of our carbon blue print. I know we want to keep the neighborhood the same but Englewood is going to have to get use to change just like every other city in Colorado. Nothing can stay the same

Im sure the zoning folks are getting a side cut of the $$$ from developers.

They need to do something for the homeless. Im sure theres buildings vacated that can be used for the homeless problem absolutely do not start zoning in a neighborhood just becuse you want to make some extra cash if its not benefiting the neighbors dont do it

To rezone a single family to multiple is ludicrous. People purchased these homes expecting to keep the area single family. If some "poor little babies" want to move into a single family are inside am multiple unit structure too bad; grow up. And for all the possible decent people moving into a multiple structure there will be one not so nice person(s).

The news needs to learn what is considered single family and multifamily 1 to 4 units is defined as single family 5 or more units us considered multifamily. Learn before you speak get tired of listening to people without facts in their news articles

Don't do it !!!!! Jeezy stop the multiplying of neighborhoods.
Once this garbage is done you get trashy people who will ruin the neighborhood.
This building up is ugly and uncreative

Let's face it, you're already trash. Move to the eastern plains if you don't like change.
