Late to the party here but this is awesome footage of a historic upset. As a Hurricanes fan I can most definitely appreciate watching the Jackets fans enjoying their first-ever playoff series win as the Jackets have always had a great fanbase, they just needed a team that could do something in the playoffs for them to finally erase those first-round disappointments. This is the kind of upset that makes the Stanley Cup Playoffs the best playoffs on the planet. What a run, and good luck to the Jackets in the future, except against Carolina of course!
I don't think the Jackets could possibly have asked for better circumstances in winning their first playoff series. Sweeping the heavily favored Presidents' Trophy winners, clinching the series on home ice, and putting the entire rest of the league on notice. This was so massive, it barely registers with people that the top team in the west, the Calgary Flames, lost on 5 games to the Avalanche, who qualified for the playoffs with the least points of *any* team in the post-season.
Maybe next year guys. My St. Louis Blues stunned hockey fans by going from worst to first and winning our first Stanley Cup. Hopefully, your team doesn’t have to wait as long as we did.
