So we are trying something a little different today, it took forever for my new mercurials to arrive and there are already 100 reviews out there on the new Superfly 10 and Vapor 16 from Nike. So, I didn't want to rush out a regular review when you've all seen 100 of them.
Instead I decided to give you something that I haven't done in a very long time, an unboxing, and a first impressions video. This is unfiltered and practically uncut as I run through my first thoughts on the new Nike Mercurial Vapor 16 Elite in FG. I'll take you through exactly what I thought out of the box as well as explaining all of the different tech elements of the boot, I'll take you with me while I try on the new Mercurial for the first time and give you my thoughts on what size you should buy, are they good for wide feet and are they comfortable, we will save the 'speed boot' discussion for the full review or another video.
Something a little different for me (and yes half way through recording this stream of consciousness I realised I've essentially stolen @NoahCavanaugh format, I'll give him it back after this.) so let me know in the comments if this is something you enjoyed, or if you prefer it when I tighten up the run time and go to town with the edits and the graphics.

Hahaha for some reason I knew you were gonna like them a lot! For me is hard to find anything to dislike from this gen. I have to say that I’m a wide and a little flat feet who likes to squeeze in vapors and these are just beautiful on my feet, no space anywhere on the boot and I am in love with them.

And about the heel and little extra material, it shows how much personal shape matters in football boots cuz for me no space anywhere on the boot and the heel area shapes my heel perfectly. As you have said many times, before making any conclusions of a boot, try them on first! Thanks for the response!!
@@erickdiaz3437 delighted they're working for you all over, I believe Noah Cavanaugh is the same and hasn't had any space in the heel either. So like you say it's certainly going to be better for some foot types as with all boots

I think first impressions for everyone have been very positive. See how I get on after a month or so.
Don't know what they put into these this year but they feel fantastic, they run a little long for me sadly, but having that tight wrap with that flexible upper really reminded of wearing a magista or a superfly 4 for the first time, like a classic knit "sockboot"
The upper really is fantastic, absolutely next level stuff.
Good boot from Nike but the beautiful thing will be even more markdowns on the outgoing merc 🙌🙌

Love this style of review, really enjoyed this format, seems very proffessional! Boot looks very good, the bigger heel is slightly worrying, and i wish the soleplate was slightly stiffer, but overall seems like a modern day broken in pair of superlfy 4s. Still kinda prefer the ultra carbon but definitly an interesting boot
Ultra carbon soleplate just makes the whole thing feel very special and I love that even if it isn't my favourite boot, it's got something I really like.
I'd definitely like the soleplate to be a bit stiffer, I'm hoping the heel will come good if I can get a runners loop in there.

The holes at the top where you lace the boot will really help someone who has wider feet or has a high arch where their top bone sticks up a lot (or both like my feet XD)
On another note, what happened with the flywire that were introduced on the superfly 4s? How come they stopped with those? (Yeah I know that was a loooooong time ago and that they stopped a while back)
Careful with a high arch on these, due to the shape there's a lot of dead space under my arch and I have a fairly normal arch. Might not be ideal if you have a high arch.

Have you tried the Puma future 7 ultimate? Cus if you have, how would you compare the fit between the two? Width and lengthwise? Cus I tried the the pumas and although I only went with a half size up, it was a whole thumbs width too long but, however the width was good. So if I would've gone with my TTS, the future ultimate 7s would have been too narrow for my feet

That's kind of a huge question to run through all the differences. In short. They're not the same, but they're both great.
great video. i have a question. is the vapor 16 or adidas f50 wider in the forefoot area?
The stretch in the Vapor upper probably makes it the better choice and it doesn't pinch as much at the toe.

You might get away with it but I still wouldn't recommend it.
Do you know any brand or company that makes insoles for these boots? I cant find them but would love to have something to help against slippage and ofc add some comfort.
I don't know any that make specific insoles with the cut out for the air zoom unit. But there are plenty of brands that make insoles for boots, check out wefoot they have some good ones.
I have a problem with running really fast and sudden stop with these boots. Since the toe box is too narrow, my toes jam into the front. It is black toes waiting to happens.
The toe box on these isn't particularly narrow in my opinion, especially compared to a lot of other boots on the market, the predator being the best example I can give. Definitely check sizing and make sure that's working out for you.
Not all the boots, but particularly speed boots for winger only. Winger required changing speed and direction a lot of more than other positions. If you doing a comparison between all the speed boots, Merc will always have the toe jam right at the end. The other speeds boots will have always give you more space at the toe-box. Now I understand why CR7 paint his toenails black.
@@rice_lord I have to disagree, firstly, you don't need speed boots as a winger, you should always wear what fits you the best.
Secondly, mercurial shapes have varied wildly over the years and I wouldn't say that they all have this issue. If you're always finding this issue you definitely need to look at other boots. It's a fit issue with your feet, make sure you're buying boots that suit your foot type, not boots based on marketing.
Love the video mate! Would you recommend this for wide feet? since my last pairs is Mercurial vapor 14.
If the 14 fit you then these certainly will 👍👍. Maybe the best Merc ever for a wider foot

I'd strongly suggest watching the on feet section of the video for sizing advice.
They are not as wide as the Phantom GX2 Elite

@redeyepergo glad you are enjoying the teqnigrip. The short answer is that I absolutely can't afford to do that 😂. I sell a lot of what I buy and review so that the loss is smaller, these for example, once the play test is done they're already sold.

Probably these. But the Razor is an excellent option. I'd definitely consider the Razor if you can find a pair on sale at a good discount.

Vapor 13 or Vapor 16?
Always a complex discussion to do a comparison. Personal preference Iike the 13.
Does it fit wide?
I'd strongly suggest watching the on feet portion of the video for a full overview of the fit.
In short. They should be fine for most people with a wider foot provided it's not excessively wide.
The holes on the nit don’t matter because even if it didn’t have them you would still get wet, this is because the material in the laces Is just a sock material meaning the water would travel to you either way.
But, holes are definitely going to make it less effective. That's more my point, they've actually done something to actively make it less effective.

Nike Zoom Superfly 10 Elite Blueprint are absolutely terrible, Spent $400 AUD once they got dirty they were stained dirty for ever!! I would think that Nike ( a $106 Billion dollar company) could come up with a boot that able to be cleaned but no. Top of the range boot that will stay in good condition for the first game only. My son has had 7 pairs of boots so far from Nike, all able to get slightly muddy or dirt and get them clean after, no these shitful things! Nike website says for "wet grass use", played one game now they are brown and Nike says that's normal. Don't by them.
Blackouts for everyone!
Its the only reason stopping me from buying them, they look and feel 10/10 better then any boot ive ever tried but the fact they get dirty so easily and its pretty much impossible to clean is why I would never soend money on it
