ðĩThe Who Playlist: âĒ The Who
#AmazingJourney #TheWho #Reaction
SalvoâĶyou need to watch a live version of this. The Who need to be seen playing this.
In reality the Live at Leeds version is the best and there are only a few seconds of snippets of it.
Keith Moon on drums. Insane!
It's been so long since I listened to the whole album that I forgot how much I loved this.
I love watching your reaction videos!!âĪ I was a teenager in the 70's and in my 20s in the 80's , the best music ever!!
One of my favorites from the LP.
The brassy sound at the end is a French horn.
John Entwistle, the bassist, plays the french horn on this album.
This is one of the countless songs that showcases Pete Townshend's amazing songwriting ability. The bass line and psychadelic guitar work in the second half of the song is incredible classic rock.
Pete was just 23 years old when he wrote Tommy. Incredible!
Tommy was such an innovative album it blew us away when it came out. And, it was the first rock opera ever composed.
And 'that sound', I think was made by John playing a French Horn. Not an instrument often heard in Rock music, but very notable throughout the album.
Can we talk about Keith Moon on drums? Outrageous?
I had the album and this is so familiar. Good reaction. There's another Who song along this same style that is really cool called, Rael.
Keep up the great work you deliver great content. Really appreciate your sharing with us
Best song on their best album.âĪ
Gotta hear The Who : Tommy - Concert (Live U.S. Tour / 1989)ðĩ
I did see that in Philadelphia. It was AMAZING.
Lol I thought that you said in your thumbnail, that shit is crazy instead of shift. I had to take a second look
The Who was meant to be seen live. Here's the 2nd part of that song at Woodstock

Yes, Amazing Journey and Sparks are usually considered one song. That version of Sparks at Woodstock in the link is incredible, especially at the 3:52 mark when Pete plays an E-chord for the ages! One of the really cool things about The Who's performance at Woodstock is they went onstage at about 3am. The sun was rising in the east as their set came to a smashing end.
This song, Live at Leeds. Killer.but the link supplied by jove711 in your comments is not to be missed! Woodstock.
This was the World's first ever Rock Opera, released in the Spring of 1969. Quadruple sided double album, I grabbed my older brother's and listened to it on my turntable with headphones and was blown away. I was an instant fan. For a first listen - you need to hear this studio album to catch all the nuance that was designed into the engineering before venturing off into film or Live performances, where distortion, brevity and the lack of studio control gives an inferior hearing.

Tommy the album is a pillow fight. Tommy live is a prison riot.
Great analogy.
This is good though the album is meant to be listened to in its entirety or at least one whole side of a record for it is a story, a rock opera!
Live version is so much heavier on guitar.
Please listen to the whole album..........revolutionary. The Movie does not do it justice. While the live version is good, you miss many of the subtle little things the album version has.
This was a groundbreaking album, to be sureâĶbut I still prefer Quadrophenia. Pete Townshend is a musical genius!
Tommy was so big when I was a kid. The movie is sick. When I heard Quadrophenia years later, THAT became my favorite. The writing, singing and the music is incredible. Favorite band.
Not my thing 2 b fair lol but hey ð
