If you love the 70's, you just have to love this awesome movie. I love this beautiful song and this moving scene so much, that watching this makes me want to go back to 1976 so badly!
Good year for movies period! Rocky, Bad News Bears, Carrie, Bugsy Malone, taxi driver, etc, etc. Of course, I was only 3 years old at the time, including Car Wash!😅😂
I remember going to the Drive-in to see this movie with my first date ever..Yes, Drive-in! Fell in love with Rose Royce and bought this record the next day.. One of my favorite movies ever.. Oh memories of youth are wonderful.. My generation had the best music ever. BTW, The cook behind the counter is Otis Sistrunk. Former Oakland Raider from the glory days!
Kevin Frampton my first time seeing this movie was in St-Eustache drive-in within the Province of Quebec near Montreal, I to it was with my first girlfriend and we got married later on, I totally fell in love with her as we wher listening and watching that scene, most beautiful romantic song to dance too, Cheer's from cold Canadian weather! Lol
Just a crusty old white dude here but I saw the movie a couple of times when it first came out. This song was the best. It still makes me wanna pull my equally old wife a little closer and do some smooching. Thanks
It's been three years Mr. White. Hope you've grabbed your lady many times since you last wrote! Great song. I fell in love it...and the movie and characters...when I saw it with my dad in the mid 70's. I was about 6. It's a true classic!
I was a little kid at the time this song/movie was released, and they invoke such bittersweet memories of places, friends and family now long-gone. Tell the people near to you how much you care about them, while you can, because one day all you are left with are memories and a song.
Heart and Soul music...god,how i miss the 70's.A time of hope and love, generally speaking. And undeniably fabulous real music created by true artisans and gifted performers...I wouldn't trade a second of it for all the money on the planet!
I love this movie so much. I can almost quote this entire movie. Hippo, T.C., Irwin, & Lindy are the characters that make this movie the CULT CLASSIC it is...ESPECIALLY LINDY & T.C.!!! I can't count the times I've watched it. The soundtrack is AWESOME too!!! This song is a goose-bump song...IT'S JUST THAT DAMN GOOD!!! I'd love to see this movie re-released in movie theaters again just to see how many people would come to see it again & to watch it again with a real laughing audience. Much love from Mobile Alabama.
I saw this movie when it first came out at the Lyric Theater in Asbury Park, NJ. I loved the music then, and still love it now. So much soul, so much emotion is invoked in these songs. Rose Royce knocked it out of the park. This song is so cool. It's not filthy; it's not perverted. Just a man yearning to win the attention and affection of a woman, who to him, just sends his soul to Heaven. Why O God, why can't music be like this today?
Now, he has an AFRO!!! Damn, that’s a lot of hair. Such a real thing how black people wore their hair in the 70’s. Looking around today, the Afro is slowly making a comeback! Still, I’ll just stick with my black bald head. Peace.
I still can't believe how much my mother, when she was young, looked like the (Mona) waitress. I remember when I was a kid, my mother would come to my school and other students would ask if my mother was the lady in the movie Car Wash (Tracy Reed).
Dam I wish I had a guy who adored me the way TC (Fly) adores Mona This is one best song ever show respect to women the music of today is degrading with lyrics that slander women
Was at the St-Eustache drive-in in the province of Quebec to see this motion picture and I totally hooked up to this song ever since, love that scene, looooooooove this song, my afro- hair was just like his back in the days and I had lots of fun in my 20's back then, thanks for sharing.
They would show this movie almost every Sat afternoon on local TV in Houston during the 80s--i was obsessed with the guy that wore the rat ears lol--i actually went to school one day after seeing this movie and flipped butter on the cafeteria ceiling 🤣
While I liked this movie a lot, I certainly now appreciate more the music and the story of this movie more than ever. This movie needs to be redone. But use the same music. Motown and its legacy of some of the greatest musicians ever deserves that.
To: davm9572... That's Franklin Ajay. He was a well-known comedian in the mid '70s. In fact, a lot of others in the movie were, too... George Carlin, Danny DeVito (had a small part), Professor Irwin Corey (guy with pee bottle), Richard Pryor, The Pointer Sisters, Bill Duke, Ivan Dixon, et al.
@thomasklugh4345 Garrett Morris, Dwayne Jesse, Antonio Fargus, Vic Netti, Henry Kingi( stuntman coordinator for those who didn't k ow)- Indian hair guy!, etc- oh Lauren Jones aka Gloria Schultz- the director's wife! Fact: she played Raheem's mom in the movie Juice! Just think, did Tupac Shakur know who he was hugging!??, In Car Wash, she played Marlene, thr red wig wearing prostitute !😅
Why must you include “the black guy” in your statement? I have seen the movie and there was only one guy who wanted to date the waitress. Now I have to go watch it again to see if he was truly “black” because I never noticed.
he aproaches her, she doesnt care, he works in his mode. thinkin to himself this girl is gonna be mine. he serenates to her in sweet harmony. she refuses. he says look. girl you aint gonna find another one like me. so it's your choice, she thinks and finally gives in. " classic scene"
Flicking pats of butter onto the ceiling with a bandanna ha ha ha really old-school back of the House house restaurant trick! Beautiful fro too, bro! 🤙👀🗽🇺🇸🎸

This is such a sweet film, with wonderfully real characters. It’s a beautiful time capsule of the 70’s.
A smile and a tear watching the movie car wash again after all those years
They’ll never make Movies or Music this good ever again!!
One of the greatest soundtracks.

Classic movie among black people. One of my all time favorite movie. Love it still in 2019

Esa mujer es increíblemente hermosa

I wish Afros were the style again....I really liked them..Hated the Geri Curls of the 80's though
I had a Curl back in the 80's, but yea,the Afro was better, is better.
I TOTALLY AGREE, I PERSONALLY, HATED, THE GERI CURL!😣😵
Greatest fro ever Frankie's
Any body from that Time with an afro that big is going to look like a giant bowl of cereal on their head because of the bald spot
Best scene with the best song
Song reminds me what I'm going through now; it's all good tho. A true classic ❤
Beautiful man
Beautiful...
great movie, scene and music
He's the spitting image of "Undercover Brother"
While I liked this movie a lot, I certainly now appreciate more the music and the story of this movie more than ever. This movie needs to be redone. But use the same music. Motown and its legacy of some of the greatest musicians ever deserves that.
Although Whitfield had left Motown by this time.
huggie Bear from Starsky and Hutch and the trucker the coos beat up in Convoy. Love them all ❤❤
Franklyn Ajaye....... nice fro!!!

The most under-rated band of the 1970s.
When I was a broke college student in 1977 living in Los Angeles, I spent a fortnight living in Franklin Ajaye's afro.
One sweet fro man!
It was a wig though....lol They admitted it on UNSUNG HOLLYWOOD
Fortnight means two weeks. I didn't know that.
