    I was wondering if the bright colours were from the 50s & 60s? The green bathroom set could have been a similar age or between the wars. You could make a fancy out house like we had 😅 concrete slab two small rooms (one laundry, one bathroom/toilet) over time the paving squares were replaced with concrete & a tin roof so you didn't get wet in winter.🇦🇺😊♥️👋

    I'm in the U.S. and your lime green bath set went in the Fisher-Price dollhouses from around 1968. There was a blue Colonial house and then a few years later a Tudor style came out.

    Mangles are known as wringers in some areas of America and were fairly common into the 50’s. Thrift stores are run to benefit charities for the most part; consignment shops are places where people resell their clothing and other items through a small business.

    I can’t believe you got all of that for $10! What a good deal, and what treasures! I recently ordered some miniatures from Temu, and got some cute things. I know you prefer old vintage miniatures, though. My very first miniature was a tiny vintage pewter serving dish I found in an antique store while shopping with my Nana when I was 9 years old. I was hooked! I had a doll house and shadow boxes where I collected miniatures into my teens. I recently got my childhood doll house down from my Mom’s attic. I am going to re-do it as a modern farmhouse! ❤ Love your channel!

    Most of the 16th scale I find is Lundby or Tri-ang, which is nearly all vintage. (Lundby is still around, but no where near what it was in the 80's and earlier.) The only modern one which I find still being manufactured and easy to get hold of is Sylvanian families and that is all plastic, so any 16th scale that you can find and is still in good condition is precious. 24th scale isn't that easy to find now, either.

    I used to try using the mangle to help my mum, she didn't really appreciate it because she was scared I'd get caught in it. It was in the back garden next to the coal bunker, which was my fort also sometimes my pirate ship . We still had a outside khazi in the sixties, we'd whistle loudly to let people know we were in there and not get caught with our Alan Wickers around our ankles.

    In 1999 there was a TV series (seen on your Channel 4, I think) called "The 1900 House" where a modern family had the opportunity to live in an absolutely accurate Late Victorian English home. The bathtub was in the house but a flushing toilet, much like the one you unboxed, was placed in an outbuilding in the backyard. They said this was common during that time and viewed as more sanitary even though there was water inside the home. The series is no longer found on TH-cam (I checked) but I did find this brief promo clip.
    Maybe one of your older doll's houses could have an outdoor loo one day?

  • @honeykat1

    I never mentioned it because it's not really important, but the extra bit on the telephone was an extra earpiece: people used to be able to listen in on a conversation (we used to do that often, as family didn't all live in one place, so one person would talk and the other one would hold the earpiece to their own ear so they could hear all the news and not miss anything... That was back I guess in the early 70s they still had those (and before then, of course! ... but prior to that, not many people had phones in their home - at least not in Scotland: if you wanted to received a phone call, you'd agree a time with the caller, and then go and wait for the call at the local phone booth!!!)

    • @maureengauvin1768
      @maureengauvin1768 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Is this so? As late as the early ‘70’s you say? I’m surprised… learn something new every day. I’m in the rural USA (New Hampshire) & these added earpieces were in use until the mid 1960’s & then faded out of use when rotary dial phone tech came in… this eliminated the need for local phone companies with human switchboard operators… customers just installed multiple phones in the house & another person only needed to pick up the receiver & talk or listen into it…

    Lovely stuff from lovely ladies . If you still have trouble with comments being switched off it may be easier to change your emphasis on small things as often is the case small can be akin to sinister like when some try to poison young minds ?. . The dressing table and ottoman are beautiful . The green bathroom set I would paint veins on it because it reminds me of oriental jade / marble. I would have to paint one of the high chairs in blue as for a set of twins one boy and one girl. I think the blue cot would look OK with a bit of tlc and some fancy cot bedding / bumpers or something attached to the rails a toy or mobile maybe to cover most of it up ?. I love the telephone . Maybe you could paint it with an artist s brush. I used to get my crafting stuff at charity shops especially if looked in the sections I wouldnt expect them to be some times in the children's section . My local charity shops are always changing the layout that is when others put things back in the wrong place its very confusing ha ha. You haven't disappointed with the content once again . Already looking forward to the next film. Stay safe Kate and fluer oxos

      I have the round red table and coloured chairs, which I bought in the late 60’s, there is a blue chair too. I also have the mangle, but my rollers are rubber.
