10 year's ago today since we lost this brilliant beautiful person many times ive watched them perform this beautifully crafted comedy on stage and TV he is sorely missed gone way before his time god bless you Rik mayall
The perfect partnership. Rik forgets his lines, Ade rolls with it, improves and has everyone pissing themselves. The show got derailed by Rik and Ade pulls it back. Utterly brilliant.
Actually, they did this on the whole tour. I saw a few of their tours and the adlibbed stuff that I saw was also on the videos. Still, its great, the first time you see it.
I have been struggling with depression for two years now. So I have become, shall we say? More sensitive to emotions. And so I'm very careful about what content I watch. Some of you, I hope not many, may understand me when I mention triggers, and how they can be unpredictable! And now I am crying! Not because of the great loss of Rik. Which will always hurt. But because of the absolutely joyous, true friendship these two men had! Which is so apparent whenever they worked together. It's often the most wonderful things that evoke the strongest emotions in a person. And the only way I can process emotions that strong is with tears, And it's hard to beat Ade and Rik for that level of feelings! Thanks Rik, Thanks Ade!
Aww heck. ❤ Bless. Thanks for sharing that, I completely understand. Learning that my life battle is officially PTSD, from abusive childhood events, triggers can come from nowhere, a waft of perfume in the street, driving past somewhere you stayed a night years ago, a phrase in a sentence. Gratitude for the good ones to, such as nights watching bottom and young ones by the fire, with my abuser. Funny how every coin has two sides. Thanks to Rik ade and yourself. ❤ Homework time... Have you every heard of amanita muscaria? Or micro dosing for depression? Different paths for different people, but this path has help countless souls about the world. This is a very serious medicine, and not to be treated without great care and respect, poisoning is a consequence potentially if misused. Please, research this, it may help ❤ 🍄
Ive been in a similar place to you my friend for a couple of years or so. We’ll get through it . Always remember what you are going through makes you stronger, you may feel weak, etc . But you are stronger than most others, because of what you have been through, you just don’t know it yet. Don’t take any shit from anyone, and be who you are, which I’m sure is a great person. 👍👍 the triggers mentioned before , etc are just trap doors, keep fighting . And as I say don’t take any shit from anyone , ever , you are stronger than that. You just don’t know it yet. It’ll be ok, ❤
@@GnrMilligan definitely, I’m up and down just like you. I sometimes have good days, and dark sleepless nights which are hellish to say the least. The other day there was a bee caught in the window , I tried to let it out and accidentally squashed it, and that upset me. Your emotions are like being on a roller coaster for me, you are literally up and own, maybe it’s bipolar or something similar, I haven’t opened up to a dr about it for a couple of years, but all they did at the time was offer me pills which I refused,. I’ve self medicated with booze, etc, but I’m coming out of that now and it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced in my life. I’ve had abuse in my childhood, also bullied etc , grief , like a lot of us, certainly not unique to me, but maybe that’s something to do with it. I just try to think of it as an education on how to be a stronger person than most others , not that it’s a competition, but we will come out of this stronger. We just don’t realise it yet, but I’m learning . Hope you are too 🫡🤟👍
Truly awesome, it must’ve been wonderful to have sat in the audience that night. It’s so ‘dangerous’ to drop character. This was a masterclass in how to do it and make a very special moment. Really miss Rik, he like Ade, was very special.
@@CafeMerle Thanks for that info. If anything it makes one really admire their acting and comedic skills. I’ve been a life long fan of card magic. Even when I know someone is second or ‘bottom’ dealing, (no pun intended) or doing a perfect false shuffle or cut, and I know exactly how they’re doing it but still can’t ‘see’ the move - it makes me appreciate them all the more.
How to make a lot to me and you 🤩🤩 I don't understand why Ru is a it to me I think I will you 💋 it to the same as I have a I have been on my own your email and I
And this is why, they were the best live performers EVER. The way they managed to ALWAYS get the crowd involved in the act was nothing short of spectacular.
I saw Bottom Live at the Hammersmith Apollo back in the nineties - it was brilliant and as funny and well put together as the TV show. Such a sad loss.
Lynn Mcphee and Baby boy zak I love you too t shirt with a I am not sure if I can get a really good job and I will be in the year of the year of the car 🚗 and too much love
The most hilarious thing I've seen in many years. Rik and ade are hysterically funny with their sharp improv ability. Its madly funny even though you can guess it's going to happen from the way ade comments to rik.
I love how every single one of bottoms live shows were just carnage. And the plot of the show is just pointless. As the show Is just them feeding of and delivering lines at the audience out of character. How these 2 worked every live show was incredible. And I don’t think another show has copied there formula. And has been able to match the quality IMO.
Breaks my heart I went to symphony Hall the other day and saw ade Edmondson live was an amazing show but left me feeling sad and happy at the same time ps I have the same birthday as ade Edmondson 😂 rip Rik ❤
I have been a fan of these 2 for years ,they are so funny ,I watch my series of bottom all the time,I know all the words of every episode ,r.i.p mr mayal
This scene is so good because in any other performance it would be a disaster. They were taken out of the performance so much that they forgot their lines and even what scene they're in. Yet they made it so entertaining it didn't matter.
Made for each other and yet both are excellent serious actors. How sad that Rik is no longer with us. You know Alan Bastard was also amazing, and just so much more
This was hilarious, comedy geniuses at work. They nearly completely lost it at 06:20, and so did i. Brilliant, great video, cheers. R.I.P Rik You were one of a kind.
He truly was, and he played into it. Your comment made me think of an outtake where he tries to close a door, which keeps opening again. He finally tells the door "Listen, you're just a door, and I'm Rik f-ing Mayall!" 🤣🤣🤣
I have seen this clip (and the complete show) countless times and I just sat here laughing my butt off all over again. One of the funniest pairings ever. Rik, we miss you, but probably not as much as Ade. RIP Rik 💗
30 yrs old and still one of the best live stage comedies there is....
Rik Mayall was one of a kind , the likes of we will see no more .R.I.P Rik.
"F*cking hell! A line from the play!" dead 😂😂😂
i cant believe it will be 10yrs since Rik Mayall left us 😞😞 he really was, "Gone Too Soon" but he will NEVER EVER be forgotten
Who else is on a binge watching all these shows just love it RIP rick mayal.
Really miss Rik Mayall . Together with Ade Edmonston they were brilliant together. I know Ade can't talk about how he misses Rik . Brilliant video.
The thing with them is they were so good, you never actually knew if it was actually part of the show or it was a blooper.
the comedic chemistry between these two was on another level :)
I can watch this over and over again, it's brilliant. Rik Mayal was always one of my favourite comedians. Ade too.

Growing up in the 90s, bottom was awesome! Comedic geniuses
To go of script brave.
To improvise something of this quality takes pure comedy genius.
Very good, but they probably did the same bit each night
@@Juniar101exactly. Saw them live, then saw the live dvd from a different venue. The “off script” bits were the same.
@@Juniar101 They did :(

These things are almost never spontaneous. All part of the show.
I can confirm this. I saw two of the shows multiple times and 95% of this is scripted. Still funny, but not spontaneous.

"F*cking hell ... a line from the play!" That bit never fails to make me laugh
2024 and would watch this until i die. Best series ever
I was going to make a joke here, but honestly, how can you compete with Rik and Ade at the top of their game? They were utterly brilliant together.
“GET ON! GET ON WITH THE FUCKING PLAY!” 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Still golden after all these years
The arm/wrist joke was brilliantly quick-witted! 😂

My favourite duo ever! Miss you Rik 😘
geniuses......comedy gold, never fails to make you laugh
This clip shows what a truly brilliant comic actor Adrian was.
Cry laughing every time. Those 2 were really close on and off the stage
This part of our VHS cassette was so worn out it would distort, fuzz and warp the image for the first 20 seconds of this 😂
i did have the vhs but then i got hold of the boxset of the stage shows
I wasn't allowed to watch the live videos as a kid 😂
Rik and Ade were something special together.
Absofuckinloutly brilliant, never forgotten.
It's a wonder they have a finish on this play, the way they allow the audience to participate adding even more to the act.
Thank you for sharing! Such great talent!

Unfortunately, Alan was ahead of time, and now wouldn't be mean enough to be a Tory MP.
Complete and utter geniuses.
They didn't drop out of character. They fourth walled the play in character.
The best chemistry ever closely followed by red dwarf
Much love to Rik and Ade still.
I still have my VHS boxset - all seasons, live shows and Bottom Fluff, which is arguably funnier than anything scripted.
