After 250 hrs of Civ 6, I have found that Germany is my absolute favorite Leader. Love the play style German allows with the extra district a lot per city, the Mega City industrial set up, massive Science and production which allows you to get a massive economy, huge science and great military or wonder production. Probably the best Civ in the game.
Rewatching it and thinking about my time playing Germany my other issue with it is I find I have to use spies to counter gold stealing instead of FOR stealing.
I know this was 3 months ago but I know exactly what you mean by the types of civs in the game. I think it's based on cultures rather than countries. Russia is a distinct culture as is Georgia and Scythia but all three were in the country of the Soviet Union; it was made up of several cultures, all of them distinct. Even though Rome also had many cultures under it's umbrella it was also a culture all it's own. The USSR was not a cultural identity, it was a purely political one. Apologies for the ramble and I know nobody is likely to read it🤣
Speaking of new civs, I reckon one of the Baltic nations like Lithuania or Estonia could make an interesting game. Think Poland, but with a potential naval escape route from encirclement (ISTR hearing that the former country of Courland which was in that area once had a Caribbean colony or two.)
Don't harvest ressources where there is a hansa adjacent to it you loose proximity bonus and if you place a distric on a ressource the bonus of adjacency bonus don't disappear...
I can agree to your terms potato. I love ham cheese n pineapple pizzas myself but im willing to accept its not everyones favorite or one theyd choose. Do get tired arguing about it though. Nothing wrong with diff preferences for food.
It's not worth it for boosting desert floodplains because you can get a bigger production boost by using the terrain for a dam, aqueduct, industrial zone triangle (aqueducts and dams now add a +2 boost each to industrial zones - this is a new change a lot of folks missed in the latest patch notes) than you would working the terrain directly, and the other two land formations tend to be so rare that they just don't make a big difference in most games. God of the Seas is almost always a better option for boosting production unless you are completely land locked (which you shouldn't be on most maps since expansion is the key to victory and eventually you will expand into coastline), for two reasons - the sea resources are almost never harvested, and coastal cities really need the production boost because by virtue of being coastal they will have a lot of "dead tiles" that aren't good until a lot of build charges are invested (and they have a low priority for that since the other land tiles should be the first thing you put your builders on). For a desert start Desert Folklore for the enormous faith boosts (faith can be used to buy stuff so it is basically a way to save on some production) is a good choice.
This is an ongoing series. He's still got a long ways to go. But it is going alphabetical by leader name, not civilization name, so Zulu won't be the last one he covers (Zulu comes up in the S names under Shaka).
Can you boost your microphone a little bit? It's way too low for me. When compared to other YT videos, you're too quiet. Is there something you can do about that? Cheers!
I don't like this sort of video style. You focus too much on unimportant chat and less to the game, hence you miss so much opportunity to play better. Also, you click too fast and forget your command to your units bcs of the chat. my inner OCD is killing me bcs of this video style
you are fine the way you are playing normally potato. don't mind those half-blood civ6 muggles who ask too much of unimportant matter and don't know how rewind button work

The only bad thing about Germany is that you cannot go back to other Civ without feeling handicaped with one less district per city :D
@@darkkaribou also the normal industrial zones feel like sh*t once you're used to citcenterharbocomhubhansa megahexagons.

Fyi decibels are a logarithmic scale, 3dB is double the energy
You are correct, but the decibel scale is about perception. 3 dB sounds 1.5 times as loud as 2 dB, even though it's twice the energy.
Best intro ever 😂😂😂
Had the kettle on the stove, loved the confusion..
I liked this accelerated start for Germany - might be worth doing for other "late game" Civs like America.
Hey there, I am brand new to Civ and I want to say thanks for the entertaining and informative content.
Same here, learnt so much from his videos, he always explains everything he does so naturally, it's really fun.
Welcome to the world of Civilization! :D
Thanks for the stream Potato. After an 11 hour shift you’re a sight for sore eyes.
Gah! I never wondered what PotatoMcWhiskey would sound like as a warning siren, but I know now.
Dang, it's wild that Civ VI is so old now that I'm watching a four year old video and the mechanics are still relevant.
The next time you go for a religion victory, please name your religion The Algorithm. (If you end up winning a science victory, that's okay ;))
I clicked overfrom anotherhey spudies intro to this one and I tnought my phone broke cuz it went on for so long
Alexander: *praises PotatoMcWhiskey
PotatoMcWhiskey: Why you gotta be mad Alexander?

It's called the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics for a reason.
That intro threw me back to the dolby/PSone days
The faster start was novel, but I'm just absolutely loving watching you react to this map type.
I’ve been playing this game for a year and still haven’t seen one of those mountain donuts for the perfect campus.
I've been playing since it was released and I've never seen one. Didn't think they actually existed.
a mountain donut is not the perfect one.. the geyser thing has better bonus for ex
Juan Manuel Aranda Yeah, actually a geothermal or reef donut is better.
I have been waiting for Germany! GET IT POTATO MAN
Speaking of new civs, I reckon one of the Baltic nations like Lithuania or Estonia could make an interesting game. Think Poland, but with a potential naval escape route from encirclement (ISTR hearing that the former country of Courland which was in that area once had a Caribbean colony or two.)
Another idea is Finland: with extra buffed defense in forests and marshes, plus a cheap and expendable anti-tank unit called the "Molotov Cocktail."
As for a peaceful Finnish bonus, perhaps lumber mills could be tweaked to yield extra science/culture/tourism (don't particularly care which.)
U forgot bout Latvia 😭
Out of Context Potato 2020 : Mao is a great guy
2:04:40 is where potato explains how to move the city ranged attack icon over to the side. tl;dr: Sukritact's Simple UI Adjustment Mod
I just officially created this account to say thank you, I couldn't find this anywhere.

I’ve been waiting to see you play as Germany again :)
At 2:17:04 I was laughing my ass off, as Potato just looks and the cap with two Niter, and doesn't even realize.
Liked for introduction. Long potato best potato!
The volume was good lmao 🤣
On your Nation vs Country debate, Russia is a pretty terrible example. Russia is a country, Slavic is a Nation.
Type in Berghof into your favorite search engine though. That guy was trolling you
prefer you edited youtube videos, but this one is good too, thanks
My favorite civ!! :D
hey can the black death mechanic be added the the regular custom games that would be a cool change
Oh how historically. Rome and Germany at war)
3:31:52 sounds like a rammstein song because there actually is a rammstein song mein teil =)
for anyone interested in this song:

The mic in the beginning actually does sound a bit rough, like it is hitting its limit.
After having watched several of your videos, I have to ask: What is a spuddy? xD
I'm new too, but I'm pretty sure it's wordplay of Spud (as in a potato) and Buddy. So, his community, are potato friends. Spuddies.
@@nolongeraperson Ah of course, forgot about spud being a word for potato.^^
Did Fredrick get nurfed?

Am I wrong to go Lady of the Reeds pantheon to turn flatland with marshes and deserts with oasis into viable settling locations?

Did the A-Z get as far as Zulus? They are my favourite civ and I can't find it

weird, i can only see 2 hours of the video
That happens for a while after the stream ended. Not sure how long it lasts. Maybe a few hours?
oh thank you!!
Boom now it works! Stoked!

Yay!
Hey Potato, do you think the left click drag option in the interface menu could be causing your movement errors?
Please never do that opening again

That's what I guessed but didn't know for sure thx
Jesus christ way too many topics discussed!!! No one here is an expert. I just wanted information on Civ 6.
