Dreamcatcher is their own genre in kpop, even the other groups say so (and most of them are fans). Deja Vu leans heavily into the beautiful facet of the genre, the best example to see exactly what Dreamcatcher genre is is also their most popular song on TH-cam, Boca. But I always tell reactors it doesn't even matter which you watch next because they're ALL that good, even the ones the members produced themselves. This is your fair warning... you're in for a ride.
Thanks for checking out Dreamcatcher's Deja Vu. Dreamcatcher are a really unique group in K-Pop as they always incorporate rock & metal elements in all of their title tracks. The amount can vary from title to title but you'll always find those influences. Despite the rock/metal influence being part of their core identity, they have one of the most diverse discographies I've come across. Their b-sides cover dozens of genres and sub-genres including R&B, EDM, Trap, Reggae, Jazz, Funk, Trance, Pop, & much more. Deja Vu is on the more reserved side of their title tracks since it's structured more like a rock ballad with beautiful vocal moments in the verses that are combined with a hard hitting chorus. This song was actually created as a collaboration with a mobile game called Kings Raid. Dreamcatcher and their producers liked the concept so much that they decided to do an EP with the release. This led to the creation of the Raid of Dream mini album which has 4 songs (+1 intro) which are all really, really good. You guys should definitely check out some more songs. If you want to check out some songs that have more of an electronic/edm influence mixed with their core sound you could check out the Dystopia Trilogy next. These 3 releases followed the Raid of Dream EP and they are call Scream, Boca (mouth in Spanish), and Odd Eye. This trilogy is a social commentary on online bullying, hate speech, & the internet (specifically social media). If you want something that has more of a harder edge you could check out their Apocalypse Trilogy, which leans more into progressive rock influences. These three songs, Maison (home in french), Vision, & Bonvoyage, tackle the damage we've done to our home (earth) through pollution & war. There's also the option of just going back to their debut and working your way forward through their title tracks and albums. Their first story line, the Nightmare Series, has more of a j-rock influence and is comprised of the following tracks. Chase Me (debut song) Good Night Fly High - Prequel to Chase Me You & I What Piri Breaking Out - Their first Japanese release and the final chapter of the Nightmare series. No matter how you decide to proceed, it's all good. Enjoy!
I'm just back since 2 hours from the last "Dreamcatcher event/weekend" (KCON 2024 GERMANY)... they killed it once again. It's not just the great songs (they have something for everyone) but also their personality. We had so much fun at the the small stage and the Meet & Greet alone. Those memories let me smile for month... SuA help... 🤣
This is absolutely Kpop and they are fantastic. To get a feel for their sound (although it is varied) I would recommend checking out some of their other songs: Boca, Justice and Bon Voyage.

They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉 Deja Vu is nothing short of a masterpiece. It is a beautiful, fragile ballad that kicks your teeth down your throat in the chorus. It is extra difficult to sort out, because it tells the story from two perspectives. You know how even evil people think they are the good guys? This is reflected here. One perspective is Yoohyeon's, who gets corrupted right in the beginning. She thinks JiU is bad (does not want to share power) and backstabs her and kills, imprisons or banishes the other members so that she can rule alone. The other perspective is reality, where we can see JiU be kind to Yoohyeon, but she gets killed for it. I believe this is a commentary on the different perspectives people can have about the same event. The lyrics seem to hint at an abusive relationship, where there are usually two perspectives as well, and the abuser finds excuses to justify their actions, while the abused find themselves in an endless Deja Vu.

I suggest you listen to their newest song Justice on It's Live. It's truly incredible. I also suggest Fireflies, one of their latest b-sides, which really grew on me. Dreamcatcher even got better since the amazing Deja Vu (2019) and their lives are always so so good!
