The National Exhibition of Minerals in Fez, in its second edition, opened its doors to visitors and visitors from different regions and cities of Morocco to explore the creativity and skills of Moroccan manufacturers.
The exhibition, which continues until June 5, is organized under the slogan “the mineral sector is a key partner in development”, at the initiative of the Chamber of Handicrafts of the Fez-Meknes region, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy, the Wilaya of the Fez-Meknes Region, the Council of the Fez-Meknes Region, and the Council of the Fez Community, and the Fez Prefecture Council, in coordination with the Regional Directorate of Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy.
The National Metal Gallery has spaces for artifacts and products of graduates of vocational training institutions, in addition to a youth pavilion, a commercial pavilion for sale, a technical equipment pavilion, an institutional pavilion, and a children's space.
The second edition of the exhibition aims to revive and raise the value of the traditional industry in the metals sector through the distinguished introduction of its professions to the public, and to create and devote a new dynamism in the field of marketing and promotion of products affiliated with the metals sector, and to enable visitors to view the creations of traditional craftsmen representing metal crafts, and to exchange experiences and knowledge between different actors in the sector.
In a statement to the Maghreb Arab News Agency and its news channel M24, the media official in the Chamber of Handicrafts in the Fez-Meknes region, Hassan Saou, confirmed that the exhibition, since its inception, had a balanced and strong presence for visitors, who came to learn about the various metal products and the traditional crafts on display (jewelry, artistic blacksmithing, Brass, silverware...).
The organization of the exhibition, according to the media official in the Chamber of Traditional Industry, comes in view of the position occupied by the field of minerals in the Fez-Meknes region, where it is ranked first nationally in the production of copper and silver.
The exhibition, adds Al-Hassan Sao, is distinguished by the marketing aspect and the training aspect for the benefit of the exhibitors. The exhibition also includes a display on the concerns that highlights the stages through which the metal industry process passes, and the child space that instills the love of the traditional industry sector as a civilizational and cultural heritage.
The journey of the maker Abd al-Rahman al-Shariki, who highlights his artworks in the space of workshops for visitors, started about 50 years ago in the old city of Fez, during which he went through long stages and steps, and studied with the most skilled traditional craftsmen before establishing his own shop.
In a statement to the agency, Abdul Rahman Al-Shariki highlighted that the craft of traditional industry requires patience and perseverance in learning from the experiences of senior craftsmen to master the arts of the craft, learn its secrets and master its tools.
Youssef H Jam has been working as a technical blacksmith in the “Al-Sariria” market, Bab Al-Jedid, in the city of Meknes, for nearly 48 years.
Thanks to the long experience, the owner of the technical blacksmith craft was able to develop his works and participate in international exhibitions in France, Denmark and other countries.
More than 120 exhibitors from different parts of the Kingdom of Morocco will participate in the national event, which will be held on a total area of 4,000 square metres, representing craftsmen, traditional craftsmen, small and medium craft contractors and professional cooperatives working in the mineral sector, in addition to operators specialized in technical equipment in the sector. metals.
The National Exhibition of Metals will host well-known personalities at the local, regional and national levels specialized in this field. Throughout the days of the exhibition, symposia, round tables and specialized seminars on the minerals sector will be organized, which will be framed by experts and researchers in the field. Craftsmen and traditional makers benefit from a set of training courses that work to strengthen their capabilities and raise their knowledge in this field.
The exhibition dedicated an important segment to celebrate the most prominent traditional craftsmen and teachers who left immortal fingerprints in the metal sector. Throughout the days of the exhibition, artistic evenings will be organized by artistic and folk groups from the authentic Moroccan heritage.
