Honestly, this whole thing unironically slaps.
Time stamps for the wicked and weary:
    1:41 Symphony/Overture
6:03 Narration into "And the Glory, the Glory of the Lord"
    9:11 Comfort Ye
11:51 Ev’ry valley shall be exalted
15:42 O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion
20:32 For unto us a Child is born
24:40 Glory to God in the highest
27:28 He shall feed His flock like a shepherd
    31:31 He was despised
35:25 Surely, He hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows
38:53 Narration/Behold the Lamb of God
42:23 How beautiful are the feet of them
    44:50 Lift up your heads
48:26 I know that my Redeemer liveth
53:27 The trumpet shall sound and the dead shall be rais'd
57:52 Worthy is the Lamb that was slain
    1:01:09 Hallelujah

Have adored this version of Young Messiah since it first came out and I shredded the first tape of it we bought from overuse. O my we were ALL so young back then. Am Now wearing out UTube on IPad . Ahh it's worth it!. The choir is magnificent and the sopranos r astonishing. Handl was one uber talented man. No wonder King George the third loved his work. Oh and the groups are wonderful! Glory to God✝✡❤️. Anne Herring and bro Matthew Ward are amazing and PHIL Driscoll blows me away! Can u even begin to imagine Heaven??? Thanku belatedly to everyone who put this joyous uplifting concert together and took any part in it. Bravo. Tina 8/1/2016.

Wow, I haven't heard this for a very, very long time. It still holds up as an awesome union of tasteful arrangement and inspired performance, channeling some nice cues from Mozart's arrangement. The entire thing is very well done and worth listening to, but Surely He Hath Borne Our Griefs, O Thou That Tellest, For Unto Us, Worthy Is The Lamb, and Phil Driscoll totally sending it on The Trumpet Shall Sound are a few of my favorites. Thanks for posting!
This interpretation of Handel's Messiah was first shared with me by my beloved grandmother, who helped instill a lifelong love of music and reverence for Baroque composers.
Our family performed this piece - and a number of others - together countless times over the years, under her direction, and it holds a very special place in our hearts. She was very proud of her family of singers. 🙂 Sadly, she left this world on Christmas Day of this year past.
How strange that today is her birthday, and I'd like to think that she's somewhere out there directing me to watch this video.
Rest in peace, Nana. We love and miss you very much.

Love this 1990 version. There's a second version recording out made a few years later. In my college years I went with a group of 50 of my friends to hear it at the then Anaheim Pond. Sandi Patty was one of singers as well as many of the 1990s contemporary Christian singers. I love this modern version of the Messiah as well as the the original. These are my favorite songs from the Messiah, both from 300 years ago and 1990s.

My family had the Christmas tradition of going to Messiah concert every year. This came out and I wore the cassette out! Great version of it, in short form. 😊 One year the university (Cornell) decided they wouldn't do the concert at Christmastime, too politically incorrect. They eventually reversed it for a few years but I don't think they have them anymore, but I dont live there anymore so don't know.

How fitting to have Twila Paris sing How beautiful are the feet of them. I love her song, How Beautiful, and it is just perfect she would sing this one.
How beautiful the hands that served
The wine and the bread and the sons of the earth
How beautiful the feet that walked
The long dusty roads and the hill to the cross
How beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful
    Is the body of Christ
How beautiful the heart that bled
That took all my sin and bore it instead
    How beautiful the tender eyes
That choose to forgive and never despise
How beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful
    Is the body of Christ
And as he lay down his life
    We offer this sacrifice
That we will live just as he died
    Willing to pay the price
    Willing to pay the price
    How beautiful the radiant bride
Who waits for her groom with his light in her eyes
How beautiful when humble hearts give
The fruit of pure lives so that others may live
How beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful
    Is the body of Christ
How beautiful the feet that bring
The sound of good news and the love of the King
How beautiful the hands that serve
The wine and the bread and the sons of the Earth
How beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful
    Is the body of Christ

Well… It’s that time of year again. Fire up the young Messiah, which is my favorite thing to listen to during the Christmas season.

My childhood friend brought the cassette tape to our house and Needless to say, he didn't leave with it. It changed ownership. Love this so much

This is the version I was first blessed to hear. We went to the New Young Messiah in Richmond and were very disappointed though we did enjoy Sandi Patty and Carmen.

Aaah... the sounds of Handel's Young Messiah! First heard in the early 90s - I think I wore out a cassette tape or two - I loved it then and still do! It's funny watching this now... mullets abounding! lol

I also bought this on cassette, when it was first released, and I have always loved it. However, I have never *seen* it before, having only the audio all these years. I love that blinding guitar-solo halfway through, and it was great to see it actually being played live! Thank you for posting.

Though being a Classicist, can well appreciate this production and the talent.
