You cannot land in Amsterdam, there is no airport in Amsterdam, you landed at Schiphol, in former Lake Haarlem ( Haarlemmermeer polder). Halve an our away from Amsterdam.
Thanks, I had no idea. When searching for flights it says AMS for Amsterdam, so I assumed I was flying into Amsterdam. I knew the Airport was called Schipol, but I thought it was in the City of Amsterdam.
@@daring2godutch673 Technically you are both right... AMS stands for AMsterdam-Schiphol airport. The irony is that Schiphol is located in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, which obviously is not Amsterdam. But since it is a kinda near by Amsterdam they started to call it Amstardam Schiphol airport. To the most people this sounds a lot familiar than we would call this airport: Hoofddorp Schiphol Airport, named after the main town in the Haarlemmermeer: Hoofddorp. Technically this would be more accurate, but then again nobody knows Hoofddorp so what purpose would serve that? And so Amsterdam Schiphol airport it is. By the way I've noticed that you consequentially say: The Netherlands; which is excellent! This country indeed is called The Netherlands. This country; The Netherlands, is divided into 12 separate states, which we call Provinces. You've landed in the Province of Noord-Holland (North-Holland) and you are going to live in the Province of Zuid-Holland (South Holland). Both obviously are no country, but no more an no less than 2 separate Provinces within The Netherlands. By the way those 12 Provinces are the reason why our country is called The Netherlands -->in plural ! Since in those 12 provinces are called; "Lands" Not in the meaning of separate country but as in part of the Netherlands. After all there are 2 Hollands--> Noord en Zuid, and then there is Friesland, Groningen, Overijssel, Drenthe, Flevoland, Gelderland, Utrecht, Brabant, Limburg and Zeeland and so all of these "lands" together make The Netherlands. And so calling our country "Holland" is like calling the USA: Dakota! Which obviously would lead to confusion and is absolutely wrong. There is no such a country called Dakota, just like there is no such a country called Holland ;-)
@@dutchyjhome All true Dutchy, however, the province of Brabant is actually Noord-Brabant (North Brabant). Brabant is a province of Belgium now, a seperate country which was once part of the Netherlands but strived to become independent and is now its own country... The province of Brabant was then called South Brabant, only to bring more confusion to the mix.
Beautiful video of this epic moment in your life!!! Welcome in The Netherlands!!! 👍😊👍
Beautiful footage! The waterways are more impressive when you see it like this than from a satellite view.
Thank you! 😊
Nice video, but for your information. Vertical video recording is also in the Netherlands a crime !! 🤣
Apparently!🤣🤣 I have learned that now🙈 I'm new to TH-cam😜
