What a wonderful homecoming ❤ The finish line tape was brilliant! I love how your dog is making the bed juuuuuust right 😂 mine does that too. After she turns around in circles about 8 times first.
Fun little coda to your journey! See you next time my friend…😊✌️🫶
I wish I could post a picture on here....my dog Walter was reallllly into this video! Lol! Made me tear up thinking about leaving him and then being reunited after so many months. ❤😢❤ It will be hard to do this hike without him. Renley will be our inspiration!
Awe 😊 I won’t lie, leaving him was really hard. Even more so because he is my main hiking partner. But I left him with good friends that took excellent care of him and loved him like he was theirs. They sent me frequent updates and I could tell he was so happy with them. That made me feel a lot better about leaving, knowing he wasn’t depressed that I was gone. Upon our reunion, the only thing I noticed was that he stuck to me like glue for about the first month lol! Expressed concern if he thought I was leaving again lol! But that eventually faded and he is back to normal again 🙂
They knew when she drove back in to get her stuff in Seattle. I was wondering if it was an issue for Woodsy to just walk across the border with no CBP check 😉 He could have stayed, and nobody would be the wiser.
They generally don't check people when they leave the US. That is why it's so easy for people to overstay their visas. But you are right, it can be a problem. One other Canadian hiker who I watched used up most of her six month stay for her North Country Trail thru hike. When she finished her hike her parents came from Canada to pick her up. They took her back to their home in whatever province. She got her car and was driving back to her home in British Columbia when all the flooding was happening in BC. So she had to take a detour across the border to get back home. She didn't film it or talk much about the details but she did mentioned that the CBP hassled her at the border. They wanted to know why she was trying to come back into the US when she had already just spent six months here. They finally agreed to let her enter the US under the condition that she immediately return to Canada.
I feel like it must totally depend on the border agent. I had my paperwork (aka my reentry permit) ready, Woodsy and I knew what we were going to say if asked… the agent going back into the US couldn’t care one bit. Once he heard “pct” he just let us pass on through. The agent coming back into Canada only wondered why we drove all the way from northern Alberta to spend a single afternoon in Seattle 😂… once I explained what I had been doing, where I crossed the border at and why we were back in Seattle , she was good with my explanation. Not a single agent asked to see my reentry permit. And honestly I found that alarming. And… why did I bother getting it then?! Lol!
@@reinholdvink2654 If you are getting a PCT permit, then you should also fill out an application for a Canada PCT Entry Permit. It's just a short aditional forum to fill out. Then email that to the Canada Border Services Agency and they will send you back an Entry Permit. Once you have that, you are pre-authorized for entry into Canada. That will make your finish so much easier, and you won't have to backtrack all the way back to Mazama. You might also want to consider flying from Vancouver instead of Seattle. That would make it even easier. If you do fly from Seattle just make sure you can do that before your visitation time is up.
Wonderful! That tape across the trail was perfect! Renley...good dog. Welcome home.
Congratulations and great job. I've enjoyed following your journey. Thanks for sharing.

So much fun watching this as it reminds me of past backpacks such as the West Coast Trail. We live in a paradise.
This video makes my heart happy. Congratulations on 1300. Amazing. Money Bags

Great video. I wunder, is it not a problem that the US doesnt know that you left the US?

Thank you for your info. As I am from the Netherlands I think I will hike back to Mazama and then fly back from Seattle, to avoid any problem.
