i believe the cochineal bug juice is also used for maraschino cherries..and i am not about to stop eating them.. lost worse gets eaten by us, without knowing.. some ice creams use sea weed..... kelp. if i recall..
How is honey made? Bees eat pollen, digest it, vomit it up. Another bees eats is digest it, vomit it up and then lets it dry. Humans be like mmmm bee vomit.
I don’t find any of these facts gross or upsetting, people overreact to the littlest things because they never cared to look any of this stuff up. This videos title is more or less clickbait
Who's going to expect to have to look something up before making any kind of food purchase? Most people just don't, they just pick up their usuals without thinking. I've done it, you've done it, all people have done it. I don't think you need to be mad or poorly judgmental at the consumers. We just expect people in power to be competent.
No kidding! Next time you eat something just look at the label and google each ingredient...people would probably be surprised with the results and what they've been ingesting over the years without knowing it.
The way they determine what is banned in foods is a lot different. They ban foods and additives that might cause health issues. It isnt based on a for sure thing. Also, most animals used in testing get way higher doses than what humans actually get in our products. Yeah, somethings need to be updated, but just because its banned there, doesnt automatically make it a bad thing. There are a lot of people that like to use fear mongering to sell their products. Any company that claims their products have no chemicals are lying. Literally everything is a chemical. Also, just because the name of the chemical is used, doesnt mean it's a bad thing either. If you go look up the chemical composition of any fruit or vegetable, it will sound scary.
People in Eastern cultures eat crickets, scorpions, hell poisonous fish if not cooked and prepared exactly right…all of these items are just proof how finicky and fickle our own society truly is 🤦🏼♂️
My dad had a friend who ate a Potted Meat sandwich for lunch every day for 30 years until he found out it was made from cow stomachs. He never ate it again. lol
Speaking of food dyes, my husband came home once with cupcakes frosted in bright shades of blue and red. I didn't try the red ones, but I ate two of the blue ones and... let's just say I had an unusually brightly colored surprise in the toilet...😬💩
Kopi Luwak is amazing coffee. One story that I heard in Viet Nam, was that the French would no allow the coffee farmers to drink from their own crop. The VN farmers found the civet “poops” or excretions and found it to be exceptional. I agree!
Here's a real fun fact did you know that in the early years of the 20th century America was undergoing a meat crisis when it came to farming lifestock so the US Congress thought the unthinkable they considered a bold and ingenious plan that would simultaneously solve two pressing problems -- a national meat shortage and a growing ecological crisis. The plan was this: hippopotamus ranching. Hippos imported from Africa and raised in the bayous of Louisiana, proponents argued, would provide a delicious new source of protein for a meat-hungry nation. In the process, the animals would gobble up the invasive water hyacinth that was killing fish and choking off waterways. It would be an epic win-win. A bill was introduced in Congress, and newspaper editorials extolled the culinary virtues of "lake cow bacon."
People have historically eaten bugs for thousands of years it is even mentioned in Bible with John the Baptist eating locusts and wild honey (which is a bee by product from flower nectar).
Betanin (the dye from beetroot), imparts a somewhat less intense red color compared to the one derived from cochineal bugs. Furthermore, betanin is not very stable in the presence of heat, oxygen and light, so its use is kinda limited to certain food products like ice cream and sugary stuff. To digress a little, some coloring agents are more commonly used than others as they have been used for a long time and are well-studied. For those intense colors which do not occur naturally (usually towards the blue end of the spectrum), they are typically synthesized, and will require FDA approval, which in turn requires safety and toxicity data before they can determine how much it can be used (e.g. ___ mg per kg is the maximum amount in food). The point is: before the manufacturers decide which pigment/dye to use, they have to evaluate these for their potential toxicity, suitability for the product, availability/cost, potential chemical reactions in certain conditions (e.g. pH, does the food have a high sugar content, storage time, can it mix well into the food/drink) and so on. Thus, it may not be as simple/straightforward as you may think.
The sand vein in shrimp actually can have concentrated mercury, so please take out that vein. Of course if you like the taste of sand, then go for it....
Feel bad for wild civets they are held captive and force-fed coffee cherries to produce this expensive coffee. Heartless. Maybe that happen too on the most expensive coffee which is Black ivory from elephants.
I am quite sure I have seen other videos which said no bacteria can live in honey, and therefore it would be perfectly safe to eat thousand-year-old honey if you found it. Who knows more about this?
Came here for top 10 grossest food facts, stayed for top 8 times rich people eat nasty shit to prove their status to other rich people who eat less nasty shit.
Nuggets are all the unwanted parts of a chicken. Also all the grinded up male chicks that the food industry doesn't want. This is actually why mcnuggets are sooooo good. Mmmm
grow your own food, have your own animals..... and all will be good. Well if you have the land to do that and also the knowledge I guess...... I got 2 acres to build my own small holding on....... yey how lucky I am, now I just gotta learn how to grow food and keep animals
If the rich knew some of the luxury foods only they can afford came from beaver and civet anuses, they might think that economic equality isn't such a bad idea after all.
Thank god for "pink slime" aka meat.... 1st world problems to complain about not having "ideal" cuts of muscle. Use all parts of the animal. Waste not, want not. Leave it to this society that practically wipes its ass with satin sheets.

the thumbnail and title both have to do with the video

Right!
Wait until watchmojo learns where milk, eggs, and honey come from…
Do you mean the 750 000 mucus particles they allow in milk??
go on...
I’m sure they haven’t the slightest clue🙄
Anybody else not care about the bugs? Not even at all. Grasshoppers are sold as snacks in Asia
100% grossed out by how Shilac is from bugs. Walk into a CVS "Oh look! Skittles"
Ong 😂😂
It’s better than artificial dye.
What are you, gay and slow? The fact that the FDA actually allows literal human shit in our foods has me all the way fucked up.
Most European and British vanilla ice cream uses an artificial vanilla or real vanilla extract, not the beaver stuff.
I'm just glad to see a Watch Mojo video not titled "of the century (so far)."
That is why it's good to cook your own food.
The FDA needs to scale back on these harmful ingredients. The Europeans have banned some of these harmful substances from foods.

Fr, human shit?? What the hell made them think that any amount of that is exceptable?

Mention eating dead chicken muscle, and washing it down with bovine galactophore secretion, and watch people cringe.
The Kopi Luwak issue is that the beans are almost never from wild civets. The civets are bred on a farm and treated pretty badly...
If you think drinking anything with actual crap in it is smart and tasty, you need help!
@@CaptainCringeOng honey is not that.whoever told you that probably had a good laugh

The Pink slime thing was actually from Teletubbies. It was an ice cream making machine, they used.
Didn't know that about figs..cool! Not so much for the wasp, though.
First world people, rather consume long term dangerous chemicals than bug parts. Really need to redefine gross meaning.
OH GOD! YOU DON'T MEAN---
WatchMojo: yep.........its disgusting...
Kopi Luwak is amazing coffee. One story that I heard in Viet Nam, was that the French would no allow the coffee farmers to drink from their own crop. The VN farmers found the civet “poops” or excretions and found it to be exceptional. I agree!
I love the smell of wood varnish. Now I want to eat candy with shellac. 😅

they need to rename that ice cream to Beaver Butt ice cream.
Well thank god no snacks were harmed in the video of disgusting ......
The mould in cheese is a form of penicillin mould. It's blue green, bad and potential deadly moulds are red, brown or black.
Why not use the red from something like beets, instead of bugs?
Betanin (the dye from beetroot), imparts a somewhat less intense red color compared to the one derived from cochineal bugs. Furthermore, betanin is not very stable in the presence of heat, oxygen and light, so its use is kinda limited to certain food products like ice cream and sugary stuff.

7:59 it was the shrimps cheat day, let him have some junk food
I always make sure my shrimp are de-turded
How about casu marzu cheese?
It is quite literally cheese with live maggots in it!
The sand vein in shrimp actually can have concentrated mercury, so please take out that vein. Of course if you like the taste of sand, then go for it....
Hold up, is that Jonathan Mangum from Let’s Make A Deal in the beginning of this video?
People have been eating ass, blood, guts, piss, shit, bugs and sperm since day one so do not get grossed out over eating something time and time again
Basically bugs be tasty 🤠
I’d rather eat red bug dye than the man made red 40, it does numbers on people like me with adhd. It’s bizzare.
The only gross and disturbing fact I found watching this video is that once a nice and good channel turned into a clickbait den
Are people really that afraid of consuming bugs? That’s pitiful.
WELL THAT'S A GROSS FACT!
The FDA's attitude means many ex pat Americans can't buy their favourite processed foods in European countries. 🙄
If it tastes good EAT IT.
Idk why I decided to eat dinner while watching this
Yeah, and imagine how far out food has come in just the last 100 years. Thankfully there is an FDA because using gross fillers would be out of hand.
Probably most of the beaver is edible including the butt.
There is nothing gross about this
well maybe not to you
Agreed
So.....Any foods out there that aren't secretly disgusting?
Came here for top 10 grossest food facts, stayed for top 8 times rich people eat nasty shit to prove their status to other rich people who eat less nasty shit.
this video made me Hungrey
guess I'll just never eat again...

Is this really going to stop people consuming these foods.....somehow I don't think so. 😀
OUT OF SIGHT
OUT OF MIND
This list isn’t really gross for the most part. Dye extracted from bugs and using all parts of an animal to make food? Okay??? Gross how? Lol
I prefer bug dye over artificial dye. People are so dumb lol it’s not like they’re plucking bugs off the ground and sticking them in a drink.
🤷♂*keeps eating*
Hooray I’m going to lose a lot of weight now!
?PINK SLIME IN NUGGETS?
meh, other than the coffee one, none of it really bothers me
11:52 who eats raisins
THAT'S GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
If the rich knew some of the luxury foods only they can afford came from beaver and civet anuses, they might think that economic equality isn't such a bad idea after all.
none of these bother me one bit, i've heard all these before.
You should read up on when they found horse and human meat in some hot dogs..
Soylent green was not really about a future society and neither was Idiocracy...
I'll never eat fig newton's again
*Sees thumbnail*
Excuse me?
Fun fact this doesn't change my opinion on any of these food because I'm not a wuss
More red...not redder
Nice

Volume level your clips for crying out loud.
Was this voiced by Jimmy Kimmel?
