At 6:50 there's a bit of info about the FQDN and links to an article URL. Is it docs/fqdn-management-allocation link on the 3cx website? Also if choosing a 3CX-managed domain, would you always choose local IP there? Am confused about FQDN as you've already set an FQDN in an earlier step. I think you could explain that better instead of skipping over it.
9:26 3CX updated to reset password page.. first The only difference for me, is i get to the reset page, but "link is invalid or expired". 3CX forums tell me the link is valid for 24 hours. so unless its a browser issue, i'm not sure where else to go from here. They keep telling me to rest and new password, but how can i reset if i can't login ? I like the old method that directed you straight to Management.. That always worked. FYI. i noticed you used FQDN in link... for me that does not work .. I have to replace that with my local ip, otherwise page not found, Am i just missing something ? No DNS server running, which is why i used local IP.
fixed.. Running 3cx on UTM (Mac M1), trial & error, but "system" was the key in all of my problems .. the first 2009 system in the list did the trick :)
because you need to run it in a vm... Part of a vm, is setting up RAM, CPU, Network etc, so 3CX thinks this vm is a "physical machine" and for all intense purposes, it is.
The problem I am bumping in to is I am unable to connect to the management console via the link provided after install. Screen times out. I cant tell If need to configure the firewall fist.
I have watched this 'basic' tutorial series. It's not very basic and I will have to watch this a few times, because there are a lot of unfamiliar terms which are glossed over quickly. Also pausing briefly after putting data in the various fields before immediately clicking on to the next page will help having to pause and rewind.
What are the pros and cons of choosing 443 vs 5001? I'd have thought 443 would be better for a couple of reasons... 1) you don't have to put the :5001 in the URL and 2) on public access wifi, sometimes there's only a limited set of ports open like 53, 80, 443 and not much else. Maybe if someone has a dynamic IP and they use port 5001 to differentiate it from other 443 web browsing, but if static IP - just use the IP for QoS rules and not the port.
Mainly it has to do with conflict. You can totally use 443 and 80 if there is nothing else using it. As you mention, a browser defaults to those ports when dealing with those two protocols; thus you do not have to append a port to the address. The problem arises if the 3CX is installed on a server or behind an IP also hosting other applications hosting on those ports. That is why most programs have a default that is not 443 or 80. If you have nothing else already using those ports on the IP, you can totally go with 443 and 80. However, they are showing the default install; and you will be use to entering the 5001 after a while more then you will find installs were you don't
best guy in 3CX. Finally they focus on transfering knowledge in the most efficient way!
Amazing how fast his hair grew at 1:19
😆 I missed that...

Why is virtual computer created before 3cx is installed?

3cx doesn't respond to comments in the community either. You're better off going with something like FreePBX.

I thought is was soothing.

Ya... convenience... If there is a conflict, it would be more trouble for the user. to try and fix it.
thanks
