Ancient Dagoth Brandy I figure is more expensive just because it’s old. And it provides only negative status effects, so it’s probably either terrible rotgut or made of something horrible like the Morrowind booze equivalent of casu marzu.
I could certainly see that, and old brandy can absolutely lose flavor and quality. It could reasonably be rotgut, I just think that the sixth house would have been a place of great majesty prior to the fall of Nerevar.
@ Fair, I guess I only think of the Sixth House as equaling red candles and body horror. Though, do we actually know anything significant about it prior to Red Mountain?
For a fun day like your birthday or April Fools or Midsummer maybe play/react to the Skyrim Sanguine quest where you have to reconstruct your character’s wild blackout party night + make amends. It’s a good PSA for responsible moderate consumption too lol less Day Drinking, no Daedric Drinking & there’s a lot of room for stories + advice + other things related to drinks.
Very informative. Always wondered what they were comparable to. Being from southeastern Europe, I find Greef being similar to Rakia very funny. Also, may I suggest covering Tamriel Rebuilt, Skyrim Home of the Nords and Project Cyrodiil as well? While not official expansions they are rooted in canon and collectively feature an insanely rich collection of drinks you could cover.
I was dabbling in Tamriel Rebuilt a bit, but I haven't heard of the other two projects. I will gladly give them a look. Hopefully I can get some good inspiration from them. Thanks for the suggestion!
Oh absolutely. They could easily be something like Lingonberry, but for the ease of finding alcoholic counterparts I figured plums would be a good choice. The fruitset is reminiscent of currants but the leaves don't line up as well.
There’s a creator called Onyx Leviathan who just did a potions-ingredient focused 1.5 hour long video that would compliment this if you want more detail on the Nirn ingredients.
I'd say Cyrodiilic brandy is more like an Armagnac- Cognac is, after all, a bit common-and-garden now, and Hennessey (speaking as a European) is hardly as classy as Cyrodilic brandy. Armagnac's long history of being associated with health- whether true or not- befits the effects that the drink provides in-game, and its relative rarity fits the exclucivity. As a sidenote, the /s/ in Bas-Armagnac is usually pronounced in my experience, but I'm just happy someone knows about it and also happens know to a good one (as you picked out)
I feel the name cognac has been used a bit too frivolously. The region itself still produces wonderful products. In the Oblivion video I treat Cyrodiilic Brandy as Armagnac. In the context of Morrowind being treated as a colonial backwater, I felt tarrifs and taxes would result in a more widespread and recognized product being the Cyrodiilic Brandy that could be found.
I love these niche videos where people examine the game worlds with a lens of specific real-world equivalents: minimal spaces, economics, woodworking, cooking, religion/cults/mythos, literature, botany, zoology, war/combat, craftsmanship of all kinds, & this rad new2me drinks one. Recipes for potential cocktails might be a good addition?
I am happy to report that the Skyrim video that I am working on will feature some cocktails-- I do have some cocktail video ideas for down the line. I just need to convince my bartender buddy to let me film at his bar.

I love this idea, definitely in the comedic track that the Mooch of the channel would like to see. We aim to have some diverse content in the end.
Love the video. Hope to see more in the series.
I intend to keep the project rolling. If there are any games you'd like to see me explore, let me know so I can add them to the list.

I really love this video. I vote Redguard next!
That would mean I have to play Redguard.
Could Comberries also be like a literal berry of some kind? In game they are described as bitter tasting.
