for all those "xxx would beat him 100:0" please guys try to realize that this is year 2002. Rapha and other today's pro guys were playing pokemon at that time. :)
that 2nd kill into the comeback really sealed it. Aim went from aimbot, to "I can win" difficulty after that. It's good example of how someone can have incredible talent with the mouse but absolute no composure under pressure or play strategically. This is why I only watched Fatal1ty back in the day though, the dude had it all, even when he was down.
TF2 is a very poor version of quake team fortress with probably 75% of the content stripped out, eventually replaced with shitty hats. It's not even remotely comparable. Fast forward to 2019 and you zoomer shits are ruining classic franchises with your garbage taste (Quake Champions I'm looking at you) and encouraging the creation of horrible hypercasual games like Overwatch and Fortnite.
@@wowsnav wow how can you call Overwatch and Fortnite hypercasual games? They have such a high skill ceiling even if you don't like them. I'm just wondering you if you don't like the stylized graphics? I don't play them but saying they are hypercasual games would imply there is a low skill ceiling.
@@z0n3h I don't give a damn about graphics, I still play text-only adventure games like ZORK. Fortnite and Overwatch are absolutely casual from a gameplay perspective, and both games were designed to get young children hooked (who are bad at games these days, because they don't grow up playing difficult ones anymore). Overwatch removes a large amount of player agency from the game simply because it has abilities and ultimates you can press to compensate for lack of skill. Fortnite needs no explanation, it's fortnite, peoples' 5 year old kids play that game, NINJA plays that game, skill is nowhere near it.
I dont think quake team fortress was as popular as team fortress 1 for hl? But cud b wrong. But ye, today's fps's seem to be mostly team based, 1v1 quakr champions seems to be most popular and it's mostly just an updated quake 3 with the addition of unique character abilities. I heard some guys have state of mind where brain assumes you are in danger, and it makes your reaction faster. You then feel like time was 1000x slower. Trick is that 1) only some people have this and 2) it comes from sense of real danger, so they must figure out how to switch into this state. So I guess the player must have something like this - it would correspond with getting ass kicked and then be suddenly 10x better

You're wrong when you said that Fatal1ty was the only one back then who had strategy in his play. In Quake, map mastery is obviously a part of strategy, and it is also obvious that both players here had decent map mastery, if not perfect. Then you have item timing (another part of Quake strategy, which is also quite obvious that both players here, did in fact know how to time items. These two factors are not the only strategies, though. Both of them used more than just these.
BaconSenpai VQ3 movement is easy period. It was the worst design aesthetic of Quake 3, how much ID simplified and slowed down the movement. Thank goodness we were eventually given CPMA.
+beanwithbacon VQ3/VQL is nice because every direction you move and turn is equal. You can half beat, you can airstrafe with left/right as well as forward/back and so on. CPMA in the other hand.. Yes, you can airstrafe with A/D, but whats up with W/S in that mod? Those keys do absolutely nothing, you can turn slightly but if you try sharp turns like with A/D you just flip somewhere uncontrollably. This limits the combinations of simultaneous aim and movement. There's nothing quite like QW ever since QW: /watch?v=ItyfXLeYgGU
GroinMischief CPMA offers much more freedom in terms of simultaneous aim and movement. CPMA is one step below Warsow in that regard. VQ3 offers the least in the amount of simultaneous aim/movement. You can't even turn more than 90 degrees in VQ3 without losing speed or momentum. Lame.
beanwithbacon CPMA and Warsow are both lacking the same way. You can't circle around an object with your mouse pointing at it in either of those games. Lame. Although there's no aircontrol in VQ3, you can however point at any direction and still gain strafe jump speed as long as you're pressing the right keys.
I wonder what kind of rig he was running... Pcie I don't think had been introduced and I can't remember if AGP had a SLI/Crossfire equivalent. Must have been beastly!!!
obviously u never played q3 or u never were good at playing quake. its much more "than jumping around being crazy". timing items, predicting enemy position, ambushing, precise aiming, quick weaponswitching and steady nerves are necessary to be good in quake.
professional gaming doesnt get much better than this. there's a reason fatal1ty can make a living off playing video games, and anyone who says otherwise is just hatin
That's only because that's how it is in deathmatch FPS games. The person in control has literal control of the game and it's an uphill battle for the person losing. I think Fatal1ty just underestimated his opponent at first and took a while to come back from his mistake.
The best FPS players are the Quake pros, end of discussion. They excel the most in pretty much everything, from hand-eye coordination to strategical play. I'm pretty sure the competitive quake players from 2000-2002 didn't have the WMO 1.1 in their arsenal. Their aims drastically changed when they did, though. This video is basically Fatal1ty with noobish aim, but he's supposed to have much better aim when using a good mouse like the WMO. I'm sure he wasn't using one in this video.
Really depends on the player, fatality has a strong tracking aim (lightning gun) whereas some players are stronger with their hitscan and timing (railgun/sniper) and other people with predictive aim (rocket launcher/nailgun/grenades) The beauty of quake is the guns employ all the various FPS aiming skillsets and the situation can call for adaptive gun swapping based on player positioning or which part of the map you are trying to control.
"People were still learning"? Nope! Most of us were done learning before the hole game came out, on the demos. And since I was ranked nr.1 on european public servers(1vs1/Tournament), I can tell you its kind of hard, playing better than what Fatal1ty usually did on this map we see here. Its all about map-controll, getting the armour and weapons, and then it comes down to knowing which weapon to use, in every situation. Trick-jumping like a pro,is a given, just like knowing were the other guy is.
I thought in time with technology there would be better games than Q3 or UT and maybe even CS. Fast forward - There can never be a Competitive FPS game like Q3 or UT and CS gone to trash.
@turnbacktime The WMO mouse, the wheel mouse optical , no I am not lying it's like 15$, just set it to 1000hz and it's the best. Laser mice track worse than optical. Also yes your mat matters, lots of people use the razer golaithus large L speed, I use control.
6 years late but Fatal1ty always jumped to the newest game(s) and dominated at the beginning. Yeah, he was a professional player but I (think) his goal was ultimately to boost his brand. For that, he needed to be at the top of whatever was hot and new. He wouldn't of been able to do that if all he did was play Q3 ( UT, PK, and Q3 all added up to his legacy).

I will never never never ever be able to do a jump like 2:07. Yes, I can strafe jump but I am far from moving like this. Crazy!
There's people that can circle jump across that, without strafe jumping at all. That jump is one of the easiest in the game.

Take a shot everytime character says " ah "
Mussun Mussun Jesus fucking Christ you would be dead by the first minute
Or not be a stupid drunk and just watch the video.
@RenegadeFury just need to know if getting a mouse mat is worth it.
2020?
Even after 10 years I still can't pull off that jump at 0:28 off.
In Quake3 you needed 125 fps to make that jump. The games physics was tied to the fps.
I wonder what kind of rig he was running... Pcie I don't think had been introduced and I can't remember if AGP had a SLI/Crossfire equivalent. Must have been beastly!!!
@lotmein20 whats types of mouse do pro players use and how much do they cost.
does the type of mat also matter?
7:34. That railgun shot was dirty 😳
@RenegadeFury just found a Microsoft 300 optical mouse lying around, how do I set it to 1000mhz if its the right one.
In 2002 weren't they still using ball mice?

Quake was always about running up the kill count by hunting down your opponent after spawn before they can build armor and mega.
@RenegadeFury thanks man... i'll ask you a few more questions after I get something to eat, lol.

when the Addy kicks in
i'm always wondering if these gamers take adderal too lol "performance enhancing drugs" lol
Why does he cook the red armor? Is it so that AIM will be off on the respawn timing?
my thought was that he was trying to bait him to it, to cause a favorable engagement
it's so there's time between the mega health and red armor so he can keep control over both
