Have one of these i bought in 1967 while in airforce, played it off and on all these years and only today had it play not up to par. your video is a great step by step and will be tackling this this weekend. will certainly update that project. you gave me the incentive to "crack the cover". thanks for the video and in advance for many more years of good listening. larry
like adam in this list I found a little metal ball rolling around in the case, would love the easy way of finding its correct location. thanks to anyone shairing.
well that was fun. with the extra little ball to deal with, and one broken something or other i have no idea where its other half goes the clean up was a fail. did clean and lube those areas this and other videos say is important and the machine will play and rewind but the fast forward is iffy (the ball maybe) and now there is a squeal coming from the tape transferring over the heads. cleaned heads to no avail... the machine wins. off to the recycle center, what do you do with old reels of tape is the nest project... maybe marketplace
There is a difference between LN and LH, LH is ferro oxide, but the particles are shaped like on CrO2 tape, so you can record hotter, but I would do a test recording or using the function, where you can listen to the record, while it is in progress and adjust the level by ear.
Did you oil the motor? Every 500 hours it has to be pulled and there is oil ports in the front and rear plus the flywheel, there is a free PDF service manual online.
Great tape recorder! I recently bought myself an AKAI 1710 (without W). But he doesn't have a 7 1/2 Capstan Speed Sleeve and I'm in a lot of pain. I can't listen to my old records. I hope to find the dimensions and make.
so adam, i just opened my 150 d and found that little ball, see that you figured it out, could you pass along what it was for? appreciate the info in advance
You seem to be good messing around with the device, but you don't really have a clue about of how to operate this kind of stuff.. Tape tension leaver left out.? Tape EQ in 1.7/8 i.p.s when you are playing 7.1/2 i.p.s pre- recorded tape.?
@@theforbessoaringbus Hi! I would like to apologize with you the way I put the comment about your video the other day...😔. I think I was unecessarily rude. I was in a bad mood and I think I blamed it on you.... Nice deck and good job, I hope you finish fixing it soon. 👍👍

7" reels, but this is enough, with 7.5 ips and double play tape, you get over 2 hours without any interruption.
Thanks for sharing.
New sub and thank you!
So do you consider spraying the whole thing with contact cleaner is "cleaning"? Its just make things so much worse!
Just playing around, what do you suggest I use to clean, I did 'dry clean' the whole thing too. This was just my first pulldown and play.
hi had to work on my mate the roller had dead spots just because it was standing for years
❤
I opened up my Akai X-150D and when I took the cover off there was a steel ball rolling around, any idea where it goes?
Never mind. I got it.

Yeah just learning and giving it a go, admittedly I just loaded ad hoc for the video. The recording is way off as I think the pods need replacing.
