  • Can you add two door lock actuators per door?
Yes and I actually recommend it! Classic cars and trucks can have lock mechanisms that are just harder to move, even when lubricated. Our LS swapped 1963 Buick Riviera was having that exact issue. Our tutorial will walk you through the process of installing power door locks and keyless entry to a vehicle that came with manual locks from the factory.

Now I know that converting the air locks to electric is a thing! Thank you... I figured there would be a youtube video, and yours is exactly what I needed.

Yea sir! First of turnips do indeed suck and secondly - vacuum locks are the bane of my existence… that and flathead screws haha. I’ve found that a single actuator can’t do it and all the one labeled “heavy duty” are meh.

Helpful video! but can you tell me if this could work to stop a diesel engine? I would like to use one to pull the lever on the motor in my boat (like 1 cm) so the engine will stop.
The 'problem' I see is that when activated, it retracts *that's good) but it then stays in that position so would need a second action to return to its original position.
The stop lever on my diesel engine has a strong spring that pulls it back into position, normally you would have to kill the engine through a cable with some force.
Does it take a lot of force to pull the mechanism back into its original position, ready for a next stop action by pressing a switch? (like a horn switch)

Thank God fitting these into the door will be a large enough pain in the ass to ignore doing this add on before I put the door panels on. You had me scared I might want to neeed to do this...

Since I was already planning on this install going terrible, you really can’t surprise me anymore… also the door panels are ripe, any month now.

@@MatthewFinlay my efi gas tank and trunk sheet metal are also ripened. I better hurry up and finish the interior so I can get back to the good stuff. Hey, opinions/recos on trunk floor finish? Rubberized undercoat? Truck bed liner?

Check out this project farm video! I used herculiner, duplicolor, harbor freights house brand bed liners and like the duplicolor standard stuff for the all around tough finish. I’m not big into the rocky chunks of stuff aka herculiner and the duplicolor Kevlar series, in my experience all they do is collect dirt and debris on the underside and chew up your hands and knees as you move around inside. I’ve steered away from rubberized only because I’ve seen the damage it’s caused over the years. But that doesn’t mean the new stuff couldnt be ok - just not my monkeys, not my circus situation.

We always used to slap the hoods of our cars and say, “brand new engine… just needs a new engine”

@@MatthewFinlay How long do these videos take to make at this level of quality? It's seems like a lot of work, I'm trying to learn editing. 😆

Oh it’s a lot haha. I make a video every two weeks (ish). Depending on if it’s a multi day project or simple it couple hours can change the filming time significantly. It’s Once I have all the footage, I’ll spend a couple evenings or mornings on the editing. I’m usually editing while watching TH-cam or streaming a show so it’s not really fast paced editing. I’ve also streamlined as much of the editing as possible by learning all the keyboard commands for Final Cut Pro which is the software I use. I’d recommend that for whatever software you get into. I really try not to rush myself because I enjoy editing as a hobby and don’t want to be pressured to do something quickly that I enjoy - if that makes sense. When doing the first rough cuts I also have playback set at 2x speed sometimes to make things go faster.

It also get easier and faster as time goes by. Once you get comfortable in your editing programming with the basics and then add in keyboard short cuts to switch tools, make cuts, etc. the speed starts to come. When I started out I was told to make a goal of x number of videos and see how you feel at the end. It was incredible how things had progressed when I looked back! It made me wanna keep doing it and getting better

@@MatthewFinlay I had a feeling it was a labor of love, I've been using pinnacle studio and you cut pro, it's a lot to take in. I have a new found respect for people that have the patience to make quality videos. I had to write all the quick keys down for Pinnacle studio, you cut is a lot easier to use for basic stuff. I may get the quality aspect down one day. 😆
