So it seems I wasn't thorough enough with a few entries. I make sure to include them in part 3!

Just one note on the hero's crime: They also had some cut dialogue where you could talk to Diego and tell him what crime you committed. I don't have it clear in my mind but it's in the Definitive Edition, I think it went like this:
1. Armed Robbery (grants you +3 Dexterity)
2. Fight with a king's guard - hero tells Diego he was "challenged" and he never could pass up on a challenge but unfortunately the king has "many guards" (grants you +3 strength)
3. Wrong words to the wrong man - I think the idea was that the hero criticized the king's politics in a tavern and got arrested because of it (+3 Mana)
4. Innocent (+1 to all attributes).
Also, about Abuyin's message: I think PB had long planned for Rhobar to lose the war - mostly. Also "returning" is refering to Myrtana, it sort of hints at the fact that the hero probably originates from there or that he was there at some point. Even the credits theme with the ship sailing into the sunset is called "Returning Home".
I wouldn't necessarily call it a retcon, "evil" still won - maybe it was what Abuyin perceived as "evil", just like many others, which is the orcs and the hashishins.
Oh yeah it was in the definitive edition maybe even in "Welt der Verurteilten". I thought about including this but I couldn't find information on it being cut content.
@@vertigo7082 I'll see if I can dig it up in the scripts, could also be that it was dug up from a previous pre-release version of Gothic.
Also, Dexter has more dialogue without NOTR than that (telling you that he was hired by a seeker basically). I think you gain that if you gain actual access with the bridge guard.

Ahh man you might be right. I didn't think of it as "hidden enough" for this iceberg...Maybe I am going to mention that in the next part.

He gives you a chance only if you know his name from the bandit near Brago's cave (corrupting him with some gold). If you don't know Dexter name, the guard on the bridge at entrance bandit camp will attack you, and if you try to talk with dexter without knowing his name from bandit near brago's cave, he'll says the dialogue vertigo show in this video.

Xardas's tower was never an issue in G1, in fact it was supposed to be initially located on the hill similarly to the fort ruins (Ur-Shak), so there weren't intentions to hide it, but it would make sense to hide the tower in G2, because Xardas didn't want the mages to know where he is. So it would make sense to put him in some cool cave instead, or even his tower could be located in some cave or something like this, which would make it even more atmospheric and logical.
Regarding 8:01 - I remember King Rhobar, in G3, saying that NH was sent there just as a test for him to pass and show that he is truly the Chosen One; so that would actually make him not guilty of any crime.
The Nameless Hero's crime could also refer to an earlier draft of the game, where Diego would ask the player about the crime he commited. Then the choice would influence the starting stat of the player. Here are the 4 options and their effects:
- Plead Innocent (+3 Str, +3 Dex, +3 or so mana)
- Brawl with the royal guard (+5str)
- Spewing anti-king rhetoric on the public square (+5 Mana)
- Theft (+5 Dex)
Also, the Car in Jarkendar was a leftover from Pyranha Byte's scrapped Sci-Fi first person shooter, left in the game either out of negligence, a reference or an easter egg. In fact, that Valley was used as a tesbed for said game, hence it's linear nature.
About the elements of the dragons: If you want to project the classical 4 elements onto the dragons it makes more sense to give the air element to the ice dragon (cold wind) and let the swamp dragon be the water dragon. I could also imagine that the devs wanted to make up their own elements since the classical 4 elements are overdone. Since we see 2 fire dragons and a bunch of dragon eggs there might also be different breeds of dragons and the swamp dragon could simply be a crossbreed of an earth and a water dragon.
And I don´t think Abuyins vision get retconned. Rhobar lost the war against the orcs. Every city in myrtana is controlled by the orcs and everyone loyal to the king is in hiding. The war is basically over and only the nameless hero can make a change since he hasn´t found peace.
"Fire mages can see Xardases tower" was refering to Gothic 2 where you can literally see xardases tower from the monastery
True. Basically Xardas' fondness of big pimped up towers is not the most effective way to stay under the radar. The mans gotta work on his modesty.

These are the things I have learned most about over the years, by just exploring if i exclude gothic 3, but I gotta say that there's things that i will not understand any time soon. Like the hermit easter egg.

Exotic funfact for better reach - in the polish dub, when asked for directions, the guard of the bridge that leads to the Old Camp replies that the Old Camp is UNDER the bridge. We are still debating whether this is just a translation error, making him look like a drunk, or some joke-allusion to the fact that you can literally see the camp from the bridge and asking for directions is stupid xd

I think you got the dragon elements wrong. Ice is clearly air. Air is (mostly though) cold like when you use a fan, or when the wind blows in the summer. Swamps are mostly known for being wet and muddy -> water.

Again awesome video,i commented on this few hours back but somehow can't see my comment (maybe i deleted it unintentionally) Connection between Sleeper and Crawlers could be due to orcs sacrificing crawler for Sleeper soul to use it as vessel and then that vessel mutated into our beloved Archdemon 🤔 Thats my personal theory, i saw it somewhere and liked the idea ⭐
